Over 15 years in the making, Of Blood and Ink is the complete poetry collection of Steven A Williams. It is the compilation of his previous three 'Kindle only' books, plus nearly 100 pages of brand new content including his epic poem, 'My Travels to the Isle of Carcosa' which is Williams' contribution to the infamous Carcosa/The King in Yellow mythos. Overall, this complete collection is comprised of four different but equally important sections craftily threaded together to tell one common story. A story of man…and of the very human condition which defines us all. It is a journey through the darkness, into the light, and within the enlightenment found beyond. Through poetry and personal essay, this book dives deep into the very human psyche to explore the integral, revelatory, epic story of life itself.
Steven A Williams is 33 years old and lives in Chicago, IL where he was born and raised. He is married to his wife of 6 years Shannon, and they live with their dog, Casey.
Steve studied creative writing and philosophy at Wright college in Chicago and his writing field is not limited to one genre as he actively writes short stories, novels, poetry, and short essays in a plethora of styles and subject matter. Personal interests include; reading, writing, learning, experiencing, philosophizing, wondering, and of course living
"I want to share my art and vision of the world with as many who will listen. I seek to expose the true grit and passion of life through the written word letting the emotion bleed through every letter and the enlightenment shed through every page."
"To appreciate the light, we must first understand darkness." That was the first sentence to the start of Steven Williams' captivating writing and I realized I was not just turning a page, but entering a whole new world. A beautiful, dark, haunting, brilliant world from a very talented writer. How did it take so long for this book to become a paperback? Not only is this book required in my purse at all time, I am constantly flipping through to land on a poem that just takes my mind to a different place and allows me to interpret it in my own way, my own life, and to start and understand things about myself that were otherwise hidden. Though I don't read a lot of poetry, I have a new respect and love for the art thanks to Williams. Two of my favorite quotes: "The mask of my face, the mask of my reality" "Love in a dog is boundless" (avid dog lover here) There are several reconstructed poems that I found fascinating as well from John Keats to Edgar Allen Poe! There are journal entries and just so much packed into this book that I will keep with me for a very long time as every time I open this book up, I am discovering something each and ever time. A must have for anyone who wants to explore their own soul.
This is what one reviewer said about Of Blood and Ink Life changing poetry...brilliant!, May 15, 2015
I have been studying and reading poetry for a long time and its rare to see so much promise in a young writer as I do here. It's rare enough to even see a new writer attempt to publish and sell poetry today let alone be incredible at it. Steven A Williams can lead the way for a poetry revival in this country and he does so with beautiful imagery and sentiment, captivating storytelling, and a strong grasp on explaining the inner workings of the human mind that is wise beyond his experience. I would recommend this collection to any reader; well versed in poetry or just a beginner. This is brilliant and important work and needs to be shared. Prof. Samuel Tammerlane via Amazon.com
I have read all three of this author's previous works, but purchased this book as well because I wanted to read the new and previously unpublished pieces and was not disappointed. The highlight of the additional content is his epic piece titled "My Travels to the Isle of Carcosa" as is well worth the price of admission. In this piece, the author intersperses poetry with narration, and does a masterful job of painting the visuals. His island come more to life with each turn of the page, and the ending provides quite an interesting twist.
In all of his pieces, you'll find lots lots of raw emotion, and both beautiful and haunting imagery. I look forward to future releases from this author.
