Black Hills Wolves #19
The Wolf and the Butterfly
Nika, the pack’s newest scout, wants nothing more than to please his Alpha. When he discovers a beautiful, and very sick, stranger in the woods outside Los Lobos, he finds himself torn between his duty and his hormones. The stranger carries a deadly wolf virus—one that hasn’t been seen in the Black Hills in ages.
Kimi, a Lakota Sioux, is dying. She’s transported herself forward in time, hoping to find the cure to the illness that’s stricken her tribe. Her only chance for survival is to trust Nika, even if she’s not used to having help.
To find the cure and save the pack, Nika and Kimi must travel to a time long ago—before the Lakota populated the Black Hills—a time filled with dangers neither can imagine. Their growing attraction may save them, or kill them both.

One of the things I love about this series is that with each book being written by a different author you are never sure what you are going to get. It’s like a mixed box of chocolates.
The Wolf and the Butterfly tells the story of Kimi, a female wolf shifter from the past that shows up on Los Lobos lands and Nika, the pack’s newest scout. When Kimi shows up he knows the routine. He has had it drilled into him over and over but when the girl shows up and is obviously ill he thinks he can handle it on his own. Doing so may cost him his life and surely didn’t endear him to the alpha. Kimi is ill and the cure has become extinct. So she and Nika have to travel to the past for the cure.
I am not usually one for time travel stories but this was a lot of fun. Filled with young love, action and adventure.

The Wolf and the Butterfly by author Kerry Adrienne is the 19th book in the Black Hill Wolves series. This is a multi authored series. This book can be read as a stand alone. The story is strong enough for that. Out of all the ones I have read thus far, this particular book is not my favorite. It is what I would call okay. There is little character connection for me. That to me makes or breaks a true romance. This one is lack luster in that department. The story idea is good. It is also rushed and slightly confusing too.
Characters the main ones are Nika he is a scout, young, agile, and empathic. I loved the idea of having a wolf with mental powers too. I wish that had been explored more too. He is also strong enough to transform himself from wolf to man at will.
Kimi when we meet her she is dying. She is confused and scared. She wants to protect Nika from the plague she is carrying. I did love that she defends Nika when the other wolves come and get on his case for breaking protocol.
There is time travel in this book, and a search for a cure. That was extremely fun and interesting to read about. Had there been more romance I would have loved this one. As it is, this one is okay, worth reading just not an A plus for me.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Nika is a young wolf shifter trying to prove his worth. One night while out on patrol he scents another wolf, a female. He lets his pack know he has found something but them follows the scent without waiting for them.
He comes upon Kimi, also a wolf but in human form. She is very ill and tries to tell him to go away but he doesn't, he shifts into human form and goes to her. He knows at once that she is his mate. She is delirious with illness and pain.
His pack reaches him, not happy that he didn't wait for him. One of the pack, Gee thinks he knows what is wrong with her, the wolf illness. They take her to a healer who does what she can and then tells them that only one flower will save her but it is extinct and they must go back in time to find it.
Will Nika and Kimi make it?
I didn't like this book. It is a novella, which I don't mind but character development needs to be done quickly. When I first started reading it I was thinking that it may be a good book for a young adult and then it did a flip flop and the sex scene wasn't really for a young adult. I don't think the flow was good and felt like the story wasn't completed.

Spoiler Alert
The Wolf and the Butterfly tells the story of Kimi, a female wolf shifter from the past that shows up on Los Lobos lands and Nika, the pack’s newest scout. The book moved too fast for me, in that you never really get to know the characters. It jumped from Nika finding Kimi, to them having to jump back in time next thing you know there sex. There is another wolf that could have been posed as another that was interested, but with how fast the book moved along with no really understanding of what was going on that just didn’t fit in with the story. The next thing you hear is that they got the flower they needed. They time jumped to Kimi time then back to Nika’s time where they settle. Overall I’m very disappointed in this one, because it had a lot of potential.
I will say that based on this story I will give the author another chance. I feel that if this was a full-length story the author would have had time to make all the connections and further develop the characters.
I was provided a copy of The Wolf and the Butterfly to read in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review
I loved this book Nika is now a scout for the pack, he feels he still has to prove to himself to Gee and the Alpha as well. He does something he isn't supposed to do be tracking a scent without waiting for backup, he scents a wolf a injured wolf a female.
Kimi is sick, she is dying, her father sent her forward in time to find the cure, she made it as far as Los Lobos territory when she just had to rest.
Kerry Adrianne has done an amazing job weaving the magical world of this book. I loved the Fire wolves and how they interacted with Nika and Kimi. Beautiful story, loved it

I received this as an ARC for my honest review.
The Wolf and the Butterfly tells the story of Nika, a new pack scout and Kimi a shifter from another time period that seems destiny plays a role in there meeting. The story is interesting but did not captivate me as much as others I have read and honestly was disappointed that the story ended as it did. felt the way the story ends makes it incomplete and not necessarily a book that I'd call a good stand alone book. The book just seemed to move along too quickly not allowing a reader to get more intrigued with where the story could go and then just abruptly ends...

To be honest this book wasn't my favorite. It was very short and everything went way to fast. There was no time to get to know the characters and there wasn't much depth in the plot. It had the makings of a great 200 page novel but leaves the reader wanting more. So many things are mentioned that could definitely been expanded on, but weren't. The ending was rushed and was over almost before it began.

I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. This was a story about a young wolf that comes across a dying female wolf and he wants to save her. The premise was really good but I just did not love it. Nika just comes across as way too young to find his mate. I felt like I was reading about teenagers. I just don't enjoy those stories as much anymore. I like reading about more experienced people.

Quick and easy to read. Would have given it 4 stars but it drug on a little long for Kimi and her mate to get to the late pliocene era. There were a few anachronisms like Kimi wearing underwear and talking about the Pliocene South Dakota as warm and muggy but most readers probably would know any better. If you enjoy time travel stories, romance, and or the paranomal I would recommend this book.

When a she wolf arrives at Los Lobos land, young wolf Nika takes it upon himself to save her. No matter the cost.
Well this was a super short read. This was my first read by this author.
Not much to say without giving to much away.
Overall it was a good story.

Nika is trying to prove himself in his pack when he comes across a wounded Kimi. Kimi is searching for the cure to her sickness. Together they must find a cure before all the wolves are doomed while trying to understand their connection. A story filled with passion, love, mystery, and some time travel.

Not your typical time travel romance. Nika and Kimi must travel to a long ago ancient time in order to save themselves and tribe from succumbing to a deadly sickness only seen in wolves.
Another great shifter story with an interesting twist from Kerry Adrienne. She takes her characters back in time to the cavemen days and succeeds!
