This comprehensively revised and expanded new edition of David Lawrenson's best-selling book shows you how to buy the right property in the right location (including abroad), and how to maximize yield and capital gain—whatever the state of the market. It includes advice getting the best possible deals from developers and private sellers, and at auctions; managing issues such as tax, mortgages, credit rating, insurances, damp, flood risk, and letting agents; complying and keeping up-to-date with all laws and regulations; and avoiding tenants from hell. This new edition reflects the current market as well as up-to-date information on mortgage availability, licensing, and HHSRS regulations; the Green Deal re-launch; squatting laws; tenancy deposit schemes; and immigration check requirements.
Good introduction to the topic, nothing particularly special. If you are interested in this subject it's worth noting that the author produces a new edition every few years, which is essential given how frequently the law changes in this area.
Finished this book fast. Straight forward book with current updates and great for first time landlords or a great refresher for experienced landlords. I found the Tax part very useful.
I've made copious highlights and will be dipping in and out of this one in the future. Pre-dates the latest legal changes but full of useful advice and well written to boot. An easy 4 stars.
