This is an amusing, true tale about an old bear who discovers an easy way to get food and relaxation...in the backyards of some California families. He even enjoys a dip in the pool and a soak in the hot tub. After being captured, poor Samson was destined for a grim fate, but with the press coverage and outpouring of public support and cash, Samson is able to find a new home.

Overall, the story is engaging and entertaining and we loved the ending. The watercolor illustrations are a bit fuzzy, but help to convey this sweet creature's funny demeanor. We really enjoyed reading this book together and we loved that it is a true story.
