"Shining Like Stars" is an extremely practical manual for disciples serious about the Great Commission. Roughly the first third of the book deals with laying a foundation for evangelism, making the case for evangelism through personal Bible studies, and explaining in practical terms how to reach out to various subsets of people with the Gospel. The preferred evangelistic method of the author, Douglas Jacoby, is the personal Bible study method and thus the book is focused around that. The remaining two-thirds of the book consist of practical study outlines for use in the Bible studies. Jacoby does a great job of laying a firm foundation for the evangelist to build on and adapt to his or her own needs.

Jacoby is a member of the International Churches of Christ, a fact which only becomes clear as he regularly implies that most other Christians he comes into contact with are not true disciples. Thus, if you would be bothered by this implication, have no interest in conducting personal Bible studies, or do not believe in baptism for salvation, this is probably not the book for you.

For everyone else, I cannot recommend the book highly enough.

Outstanding evangelical book! Inspiring to a young Christian to read! I remember feeling like I had a very special purpose in life and that I counted in those stars and I too could help others help others! Thanks Douglas!

I should have read this a long time ago. The first few chapters are great chapters, and the rest is good reference material (that I haven't read or digested yet).

Excellent tips and in depth study of Biblical Doctrine, definitely a handbook I'd love to keep around and reread in the future.
