Good for illustrating to children, with characters they are familiar with, that it is ok, and can even be fun, for your best friend to have other friends too.

The Big Bird has Thin Skin, and the woolly mammoth being friendly toward Ernie in kindergarten is too much for him to bear. Until we learn that we can all be friends AT ONCE.
"Here is one who will increase our loves," say Dante's blessed spirits, and the Sesame Street characters too.

Your children may say things like, What is Ernie, and you'll find yourself saying things like, He's kind of a person. They're all kind of people but they're puppets, but he's kind of a puppet person where the other ones are puppet birds or monsters or whatever. Go drink your milk.
