As the fog rolls across the bay, the last few stragglers make their way to the closing night of the decrepit circus on Robert’s Island. They pay no mind to the dark and imposing asylum for the criminally insane looming in the distance. But if they did, they would find the cells filled not with inmates, but of murdered circus performers.
Led by a psychotic and charismatic individual who has taken up the moniker of The Ringmaster, the inmates have masked themselves as classic circus characters with one thing on their mind: chaos and blood.
What the audience doesn’t realize is that their only escape off the island is a raised drawbridge that won’t lower until sunrise. Once all hell breaks loose, they must band together and try to survive the night. But will they be able to?

Looks like I'm the first person to rate this book. Honestly wish it was a more generous rating, but alas meritocracy and all that. Psychos and the yellow/red top tent of fun, an asylum sharing an island with a circus...Davis definitely had the right idea for a fun read. The execution left a lot to be desired. I mean, one doesn't expect high literature out of something like this, but the writing was really sub par, sort of like a B horror flick script. Not to mention some editing would really go a long way here. This is the sort of over the top idea that would have been oodles of lowbrow fun under a different pen. Under Davis' it was entertaining enough, just barely so, crude, quick and mindless. Apparently sequel is in the works too.
