God on Display: Our Cure for Sin, Our Anchor in Suffering

Rate this book
This book was written to serve believers at Legacy Church in Knoxville, TN, who are struggling with overwhelming circumstances and want to be better equipped to enjoy and engage God with those in their community.

It springs out of the simple yet profound reality that we change as we truly see God. In fact, the entire ministry rises or falls by this. When you begin to get an idea of what kind of person you're really dealing with in God, it takes you by surprise. The abused discover a God who is intimately with them, who will not let the guilty get away with praying on the innocent, who understands the death of a child, and who holds them securely in Jesus when life becomes chaos. The addicted discover a God who has embarrassing amounts of power over our deepest stubborn desires, who is King and cannot be taken or left at our leisure, and who gave His Son over to death to rescue captives who were given over to sin. When we see this unexpected God, and when His unexpected message begins to sink in, change overtakes and carries us like a tidal wave. Like the Israelites' flight from Egypt, this change has a direction: God pulls us out from sin, and He brings us to Himself. They are two inseparable ends of a single, miraculous rescue.

God on Display introduces you to this God and seeks to equip you to see Him vividly in daily life, arm-in-arm with your community. The goal is to grow a pleasure and infatuation with God that gives you bearings in the tumultuous ocean of addiction, abuse, and suffering. Even further, the goal is to launch you with your community to join God on His mission of spreading Himself in depth and breadth to all the ends of the Earth. Friend, God must be seen! His display is His great power and our great hope.

Regardless of your circumstances, I hope this book is a help to you, and I hope you see God more clearly.
