"I loved that this story showed a real, raw and passionate side of two people lost trying to fight and find their way back to one another..I loved the journey back to healing. This book was pretty amazing. Definitely a book for anyone who believes in fighting for what they love." ~ A Beautiful Book Blog
First comes love, then comes marriage. Then comes...disaster.
In Livy's mind, prince charmings, happily ever afters and true love only exist in her world of books. Jeremy believes otherwise, and he's determined to prove he can be all of that for Livy.
All it takes is a little hope to embark on forever... until the unexpected turns their solid foundation into suffocating quicksand. And just like that, everything begins to crumble.
Spiraling out of control, Jeremy and Livy grow further apart with every day that passes.
But a glimpse of what once was reminds them that the fate of their future lies solely in their hands.
When life-altering love becomes earth-shattering heartache, only the past can mend it. If it isn't too late.
Note: This is a New Adult Romance and contains mature language and situations. This book is not recommending for readers under the age of 18.
One of the most interesting things about Throwback is that it goes beyond the whole "Happily Ever After". Liv and Jeremy come from two very different backgrounds. Not only they have to learn to love and trust each other, but as the story progresses into the future they will be "forced" to remember how it all started and why they should keep fighting to stay together. A great reminder that a solid relationship is not all butterflies and roses, but it's hard work.
Livy has had a trying life. She was treated like hell from her mother and couldn't wait to turn 18. She planned to run fast and far and never look back. Livy is smart, beautiful and determined to have a great life. Livy ends up working in a bar while finishing school. One day in walks a guy, she was crass and is used to the bar guys hitting on her. She was no dummy and wasn't looking for love. Boy did it find her. Jeremy. Jeremy wanted to be a good man. He wanted to please his mother she is the most important person in his life. One day he decides to go have a drink and his life changed from that moment and her name was Livy! They fell in love fast and hard.
They then face some struggles and need to find out how to fix them, they receive a huge gift that makes them recall why they fell in love.
Will this be enough to save them?
Zeia Jameson novel titled Throwback. This is Zeia debut novel. I am so in love with this story. First, Zeia does a amazing job pulling the reader in and making you love and hate the characters your supposed to love or hate. I keep reading and reading and them bam the shock, the tears, and then smiles. Zeia Jameson is an author that you should keep your eyes out for she a keen talent in storytelling as well and connecting the character to the context. I read Throwback and pictured this playing out on the big screen it was so great. I totally recommend this novel to readers.
" True love stories never have endings." - Richard Bach
I enjoyed the unexpected twists & turns! What I liked most was how realistic some events were and that Livy & Jeremy struggled with real life problems that most couples do. Looking forward to more by Ms. Jameson
This novel by Zeia Jameson took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. The author had me gripped from the first page until the very last page and along the way I fell in love with Livy and Jeremy, a likeable, realistic and very relatable couple fighting for what they believe in, their love for one another. For Livy and Jeremy they met, fell in love and got married but somewhere along the way life took over. Livy never believed in Prince Charming’s and happy ever afters, whilst Jeremy believed he could be Livy’s Prince Charming, however when disaster strikes, the couple find themselves spiralling out of control and their once solid relationship crumbling. The couple seem to be growing further apart daily, however a glimpse of their happier past has Livy and Jeremy feeling hopeful for their future together. “When life-altering love becomes earth-shattering heartache, only the past can mend it”. This was a wonderfully written love story with a difference, and that was in its realistic storyline. The chemistry between Livy and Jeremy sizzled off the page and I loved how their relationship developed over time both growing and changing. The storyline flowed nicely and along with the wonderful character building the author had me fully immersed in the book as I devoured this novel in a couple of sittings. A wonderful and emotive read which I thoroughly recommend.
Livy is trying to live her life treated unwanted she moved at 18. She wasn't look for romance but Jeremy has found her. This is a book about life and the hardships that can be felt and sealed out to those it goes into the mental effects of how childhood circumstances effects adulthood. I love how it show a true realtionships and not just the honeymoon period. I would highly recommend this book.
Ms. Jameson caught me hook line and sinker at the 7% mark. I loved how taken Jeremy was immediately with Livy:
I’ve been sitting here less than five minutes and she’s only said like seven sentences to me. And not flirty sentences. There were just a few questions, some informational facts and I think a death threat. I shouldn’t be turned on right now. At the very most I should just feel better educated about beer and slightly worried for my life.
But this is the best thing about their relationship through most of the book. They’re just totally heads over heels with each other and they can’t get enough even without talking. It’s the sweetest, most romantic relationship I’ve read in recent times -- and I read A LOT!
And though it takes him some convincing when he finally takes her out, the dates are so great and the way he is so gentle and caring for her without requiring any background information. It all seems to be so perfect.
And poor Livy she is so closed off that she doesn’t even think she wants to date him once or twice much less fall in love with him. She doesn’t take too long to realize that everything with Jeremy is better than anything was before him:
His eyes are my Kryptonite and I can’t say no. I don’t want to say no because that kryptonite also warms my heart.
The Kryptonite makes me weak. But weakness doesn’t seem so bad in Jeremy’s presence.
Of course, nothing in life can be perfect forever. The way that Ms Jameson wrote the story out was totally believable and had me on edge just wanting them to figure their crap out and move forward because they were too perfect for each other to not stick it out. I felt like I was totally on the emotional roller coaster right there with Livy and Jeremy. I was cheering with them, crying with them and just hoping for the best outcome. I cried so many times while reading this book...there were a few sad tears and some tears from relief, but mostly tears of happiness that they were finding in each other what they had always hoped they’d find.
I loved the mystery of the relationship fix. I loved the family and friends we go to know. I loved Livy and Jeremy both. This book was definitely more than a 5 star read for me and I only hope that others will give it a chance and really enjoy it!!!!!
This was my first read from Zeia Jameson and I really enjoyed this book, it kept my interest all the way through as well as hit home with alot of the situations the couple went though. Let me tell you that, when I bought this book, I didn't quite know what to expect. This book was all about life getting in the way of ypur relationship and finding the tools and help to find your way back to eachother. It begins with giving ypu a little back ground on Livy's and Jeremy's past, before they even meet one another. Not only does it next go into how they meet and fall in love but also the struggles of trusting, and fearing the unknown. Livy starts off rough around the edges but you soon see it's a defense that she puts up but in reality she has a compassionate loving heart that just needed a little help developing. Jermyn on the other hand had a heart of gold from the get go and saw what she didnt in herself. He sweet, compassionate, loyal and most of all understanding when it came to her fears. Then they get to the now in there relationship, thos is where I fell in love with this story because like so many people the honeymoon stage of a relationship wears off and your left with life. I love how they showed you a real relationship with struggles. It's about two people being reminded of their love they once had for each other before work, pride, self, having a baby etc. Can distract you from working on yourself and the foundation and love you once had in the beginning. I totally recommend you reading this book of life, love and building themselves back as a couple even stronger than before.
Throwback was one of the most REAL portrayals of what parenthood does to even the most solid of relationships. Zeia Jameson’s honest and sometimes even unforgiving portrayal of the ugliness that comes with losing yourself in parenthood was simply beyond words. Being so busy in what the day brings that we, as parents and without effort, forget to love one another, is such a real problem for so many couples today. Our world is so busy and relentless that we sometimes forget to just take a step back and allow ourselves to remember each other as lovers and not as the parents we’ve become. We sometimes forget that love does conquer all and that communication is the key to happiness; that sex shouldn’t be taken for granted, and that change doesn’t have to mean we love each other any less. I fell into a deep pit of understanding and sadness when finally reaching the portion of Livy and Jeremy’s story where they forgot to think about each other; where the baby became a constant and they had somehow become background noise. Where Jeremy suddenly found himself waiting for parenthood to kick in so he could get his Livy back, because right then, in that moment, she was Amelia’s Livy, she wasn’t his Livy anymore. What an accurate depiction indeed… it broke my heart. Throwback is a beautiful, inspiring, and utterly profound story. I have been deeply moved by these characters and their struggles. It’s not often that you come across an author who simply GETS IT in a way that Zeia Jameson apparently does. She sees people, relates to them, and understands them. She is a beautiful storyteller and her characters have captured my heart for life. 5 breathtaking stars!!!
I really loved this story. If your looking for a book that instantly shatters your heart & yet gives you hope, this is the perfect story. It's about a boy who grew up loved by the most important 3 women in his life. It's also about a girl who felt very unloved by the 1 person in her life who should've treated her with love. Their worlds come together at the age of 21. Have you ever met that person who practically gives you the world while still trying to be strong & not let your guard down? He stands behind her (literally not figuratively as well) at the bar she works out. She tells him before things get too serious between them that she doesn't want to get married or have kids. When you fall in love, even when you don't know how other things change and happen. 6years later, she has both and he had promised her that she would always be happy...but she wasn't. Than one day a trunk was delivered to them after another argument. Little did they know what was inside would either help them in a weeks time or they would keep walking down the path that was destroying what was unique and wonderful about their relationship. His family, their friends knew they were made for each other. What Livy also didn't expect was since meeting Jeremy that 3 people would re-enter her life. This story will really hit some spots right on if your married, have kids, or had a past like either of them. This love story is an emotional one.
“Throwback is the kind of book that make you realize that there’s more after the happily ever after. While reading the first chapters of how Livy and Jeremy love story developed to me it felt like reading another love story but way too fast. Though it was part of the story development I honestly believe that I was reading a book like many others but right after the wedding the real story started.
Falling in love is easy, finding your soulmate is hard but when you have found both and sealed the deal with a ‘I do’ normally put and end to the story but what happens after that?
Throwback was one of the most realistic plots I’ve read recently because let’s be honest life happens. Couples struggle with real life problems and life is suppose to have twist and turns. I know the idea of finding true love and live the happily ever after seems like a dream come true but have we really thought what happens after many being many years being with the same person?
Zeia Jameson wrote a wonderful story. Livy and Jeremy were charming characters. Their journey was a story about two broken souls fighting they way to each other again. There are special things that are worth the risk.
It was a very long story. Though things might seem to happen really fast there’re some others that feels quite slow but without a doubt it was a whirlwind of emotions. I highly recommend you this book.”
I really enjoyed Throwback. I loved the idea of the whole thing. We get to follow Livy and Jeremy's relationship from the start. We even get a small glimpse into their early childhood to see what makes them the way they are today. Livy never wanted to get married or have children. She had a horrible upbringing and felt she wasn't qualified to do those things. She ends up falling in love with Jeremy and he helps her to understand that love is OK. She accepts his proposal and they get married. Livy is so glad she did. Into she falls ill and finds out she's pregnant. She's devastated. Jeremy on the other hand is ecstatic. She ends up deciding that yes, she CAN do this. They embark on the journey of parenthood. And that's where everything just goes to crap. Their relationship completely crumbles and Livy contemplates leaving. A mysterious truck gets delivered to their apartment one day. Inside are instructions to fix their relationship. Where did the trunk come from? Who sent it? Will it work?
This book is warm and charming and it left me thinking hours after I finished. It was a wonderful at times painful journey. It was real, it was powerful and it was heartwarming
You have two people, one from a family with love, and one from a family without love. Livy, I can not even imagine what it was like to grow up as her. Taking care of herself, no love, no guidance. She turned into a beautiful, strong, caring young women.
Jeremy, he came from a home that was not perfect but it was wonderful. I loved him from the first time he walked into livy's bar. I loved how her took Livy into this journey showed her love and healing...
I loved that this story showed a real, raw and passionate side of two people lost trying to fight and find their way back to one another..I loved the journey back to healing.
This book was pretty amazing. Definitely a book for anyone who believes in fighting for what they love.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review* At first for me, the story drug on too long. If it wasn't so long, it could have been a great read. But for me, I just got bored. But I plugged on. It was only the beginning that really was too slow for me. The characters were well written, and I liked them. As the story progresses, you get a real look at what happens when you become parents. Watching Jeremy and Livy struggle with their changing relationship, their changing duties and needs in life was good. This was such a true accounting of giving yourself up for your child, your spouse, losing yourself. I could really relate with Livy. This is a long book, and at times I really wondered why it was taking so long to end. But as I thought of the end of the story and the progression to get there, then it made sense. Every thing fell into place. I wouldn't so much call this a romance, as a very realistic look at life. It was truly a decent book!
What an amazing story!! While it was a bit longer then I expected it was well worth it! What an emotional love story that so many can relate to. From young love to lost love to losing yourself this book goes through so much. Zeia Jameson does such an amazing job portraying what so many go through and have gone through and the steps you should be taking to find your way back. I loved loved loved Jeremy and Olive. The characters and their story is captivating and leaves you wanting more and more. Wonderful job by Zeia Jameson I look forward to reading more!
Sometimes you read a book and you just get it. This starts off as your typical romance. You get your HEA, but what happens after that. What happens after real life kicks in and kicks you in the butt? What happens when you meet the love of your life and then work and kids happen? This book contains the whirlwind romance that we have all grown to love, but it also contains so much more. I LOVED IT!
3.5* Read for me - Throwback is a romance.......well it sort of is but the story moves past the happy end and the epilogue to the 'Real World' the everyday where you enter the Merry Go Wheel of LIFE. Food shopping, working, having a baby; disconnecting with your partner!
Jeremy had the nice mom although he lost his dad when he was really young; Livy had the terrible childhood, druggie mom etc and when she hit 18 she was gone - worked nights to go college.
Jeremy didn't want college so went straight to work and has a bright future ahead and the pair meet young at 18 fall in the love and that should be THE END - nope this story then goes beyond that and we look at their lives over the next 8 years or so to the point where things are not looking good and an intervention is needed to get Jeremy and Livy back to where they should be - enter the trunk and 7 days to find each other!
The author either did a lot of research for this part of the book or know's so something about couples therapy because she sure has written this part about a couple finding their way back to each other really well and I loved the spin of the trunk being the therapist!
Throwback by Zeia Jameson is an Amazingly written story about two people lost trying to fight and to find there way back to one another. This book will take you on one heck of an emotional journey. There are highs and lows, there are good times and bad. There are moments where you will find yourself chuckling at something Livy has said or done to having tears running down your face. There was a point I literally felt like my heart shattered and I was to the point of ugly crying. Livy and Jeremy met when he stopped by the bar she worked at for a beer. The moment he came in contact with her he knew she was different and Livy had the same thoughts. That was the start of them and it just grew from there. These are good for each other they really do compliment each other he calms her down when she gets worked up. I literally couldn’t stop reading I was so invested in this book I couldn’t function I had to know what was going to happen next. Can these two have a future together? Find out what happens next in this heart warming yet heartbreaking story. I highly recommend reading this Book and I look forward to reading more from this Author.
Throwback is a great book by Zeia Jameson about two people who have drifted apart and are fighting to get back to one another. I have read the Jaded Lily series by this author in the past and I’m a fan of their writing. Livy has had a very hard upbringing and sees relationships and marriage as a waste of time. She is adamant that she will never marry or have children. In fact she doesn’t even want a man in her life. That is, until Jeremy walks into the bar where she works one night and slowly but surely over the next few months starts to pull down the huge walls that she has built around her. But as you know, the path to true love never runs smoothly. This story will take you on an epic rollercoaster journey of emotions that will leave you feeling exhausted. You will be laughing so hard that tears are running down your face then a few pages or chapters later you will have sad tears running down your face. I absolutely adored both Livy and Jeremy. Jeremy is such an absolute sweetheart with so much patience. I admired how he dealt with Livy and her fear of committing to someone. The world needs more men like Jeremy. If you have any doubts about reading this book then throw them away and dig in for a great read.
Livy and Jeremy come from both sides of the spectrum as far as love goes. It’s like they speak two different languages and from two different planets. Livy being from Mars and Jeremy from Venus or vice versa. Livy is not one to believe in love at least the way the world has told her to believe. Jeremy is ready to prove to her that he can make all her love dreams come true. That is, though, until everything turns their world upside down. They let the world as they know it crumble their structure and they go with the motions of the ocean. As time goes on, they realize only they can change their fate. Will memories be enough to rekindle their fire or is it too little too late? Right now, with all that’s going on in the world, I could use this book at the right time to keep my mind during this quarantine. If you’re a relationship or marriage chick like me who believes in hopeless romantic stuff like this, it’s the book for you. I love books about romance and anything about reuniting in love. This is just that type of book for rediscovering your love for someone and doing what it takes to stay in love or find your way back to one another. This story is beautiful as you believe all that it is for the couple and their love story. Great book!
I loved this author's Jaded Lily series and can honestly say this one blew me away, it is now my favorite from this author. I love a story that feels real and this one met the mark. I adored these characters and a lot of their interaction throughout the book felt in so many ways like interactions I've had in my own life along the way.
This journey that Livy and Jeremy took me on in this book felt like deja vu in so many ways. Ive been married to my husband for 39 years this year and in some ways this story resembles my own, we were from 2 different worlds and had many trials through the years. I felt every emotion that was portrayed in this story, I cried and I laughed and Yes I wanted to throw my kindle a couple times. The miscommunication and taking things and each other for granted are major lessons that every married couple must learn. This story was written so beautifully, it showed the realistic side of love and marriage between two real people.
I loved Jeremy’s Mom and also Joe was a favorite of mine. This is an amazingly awesome story that I will absolutely read again and again and I can not recommend it enough.
Many thanks to this author for giving me another favorite book this year!
I loved reading the story Throwback by Zeia Jameson. It is a book that pulled me in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Jeremy and Livy. What they find with each other is friendship, passion, love, and hope. Until the unexpected threatens the life that they are building together. Will a glimpse of the past help them to find their footing? What does the future hold for Livy and Jeremy? Read this book to find out. This is a story that includes powerful emotions. I found my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about Jeremy and Livy and wanted them to be happy. The story has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. There are times when I would smile or laugh and others when I had tears in my eyes. This book touched my heart. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that interacted with Livy and Jeremy. Don’t miss out on an amazing story that you will not want to put down. I highly recommend reading it.
As a first time reader of Zeia Jameson have to say this one was a great way to start reading by her. This book had everything I look for in a top 10 book and loved it. Livvy is one tough woman and reading what she grew up in it is totally understandable why she is a little standoffish when it comes to Jeremy. Let me tell you Jeremy is the perfect book boyfriend for no matter how hard Livvy is he is there all the way. One thing for sure Zeia Jameson shows us the good, the bad and yes readers the ugly between these two. Once you start reading the first chapter it grips you till the end wanting more and yes getting everything you never expected. I loved seeing Zeia Jameson bringing them together and yet it is more than just a romance. We see the true mechanics of a relationship from beginning to the end seeing that with magic, trust, faith and family can make a love grow stronger. This is one of those books you should not pass and a great way to start reading about Zeia Jameson.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
The first section of this book is a nice romantic story. Seeing their past and how they got together working toward their happily ever after. The second half is where things get shaken up in their life. I sat here many times just shaking my head. At what he does and what she does. Totally frustrating. But there is a genius way for them to try to heal so they can fall in love again. The question is will it work?
This isn’t my first book by this author. I usually LOVE her work. This one I just struggled. It wasn’t the characters (I enjoyed them) it was the story telling. The first half it seemed there was too much time spent in their heads and I became easily distracted. The prologue is what kept me turning those pages (that was a great idea). The second half easily kept my interest because I was as invested as the couple was wondering “who”and “can it work”. It’s a lovely story and I did wish for their happiness. I do recommend this story because it does have a good message, its twists and turns and the characters are amazing.
Throwback by Zeia Jameson was a great 5 star read.
We start by getting clips of Livy and Jermey’s childhood up to an adult. They both had different but heartbreaking childhoods. Livy was counting the days until she was 18 so she could get out and away from her mom. Jeremy lost his dad to a drunk driver when he was little and wanted to make his mom proud.
These two end up meeting at the bar Livy worked at and they had an instant connection. As they start dating they have to learn to drop their walls and learn to trust each other. They also have some challenging twists and turns.
Can these two have a HEA?
There is so much more to this great read that I don’t want to give away. This author has done a great job of pulling me in with her writing and I couldn’t put it down. Great debut novel! I loved the characters, my emotions were up and down at times with them. There are some scenes that I would suggest 18+ readers only. I am excited to read more from this author. 1-click and get started today.
This was such a refreshing take on the happily ever after love story that is the typical novel I tend to read and enjoy. I loved how this read almost like a docu series on love and relationships in the real world. I absolutely loved how realistic and connective Livy was for me as well as Jeremy. These two are forced to face life and all the obstacles that it tends to throw in our faces and work through them. They have to remember why they started the journey together in the long run and put in the work and this novel is the outcome of all of this. I sincerely enjoyed how well this read and was an easy one to digest in a rainy afternoon. I needed something to curl up with a warm tea and my blankets and get lost in and this book couldn’t be a more perfect choice for that. I am anxious to see what Zeia Jameson will conjure up for us in her next novel. I do recommend her other novels as a good stand in while you wait!
How do i start this review without giving it all away? I am blown away by this book, I'm still getting misty eyed just typing this.
This book, this story, just gave me the biggest sucker punch because this feels like someone got in my head and wrote my feelings down and gave to the world to read. I myself am a stay at home mom and unless you've done it yourself, you cant imagine the feelings of depression, isolation and every other emotion you read in this book.
I loved this story. The character building, the blossoming romance, the trust, the fight, just the true raw emotions. This author just let the feelings flow out and they were nailed!
Read this book, everyone knows someone who feels this way, from either character, and it will help open your eyes.
What a wonderful love story, while not traditional for romance books, this was the most realistic I've ever read.
This is a lovely heartwarming story about 2 people from different walks of life meeting and falling in love.
Jeremy has had a good life apart from losing his dad. He had a mother who loves him completely. Hes grows up surrounding by love and is starting to become successful.
Livy is from a disfunctional family. Her childhood was hard with a mother that doesnt want her. So soon as she became old enough. She left and got a job in a bar. Thats where Jeremy and Livy meet.
Their relationship is hard as they both learn to trust one another and learn to grow together. Eventually they get married.
However after they are married the relationships takes a turn for the worse.
Can they rebuild their marriage or will it be broken for good.
Its a lovely story and shows that a relationship is hard worl and needs working on constantly. It isnt always romance and flowers. Its heartbreak and angry words but its how you come through this that makes a relationship stronger.
Once upon a time, there were two people from way different backgrounds, but fate didn't give a crap. There's Livy, a girl who was treated very badly in childhood, who is working as a bartender to put herself through school, and trusts no one. Jeremy, a good mama's boy, comes into the bar she works at to have a drink, and fate totally gets involved, though Livy is hard to actually get to know. Jeremy & fate got past Livy's walls, and they fell in love fast and HARD! However, life isn't always kind so they had some big bumps in the road, which tried to derail them, but then a gift showed up to help them, so can it help them remember why they're perfect together?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out, and be ready for all the feels to gut punch you! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Can we say epic love story?! OMG. I loved this story so much. Jeremy and Livy are a couple that we can all relate to. Their romance was raw and real and it will captivate your heart. They both have had their hardships, Livy more than Jeremy growing up. They had a connection that can't be denied. But like most relationships flames fade. That is until they are reminded on why they burn so bright. I can't express my love for this story enough! I don't want to give any details because their journey is one worth going on. Just trust me when I say once you start you won't be able to put it down. I felt like I was in this with them. I think this story will help couples realize it's okay not to be perfect. No love story is. This story is full of heart break and heart warming moments. Be prepared for it to consume you.
