Y. Correa is a literary evolutionary, luring one in with her talent of Romancing the Words, keeping one hypnotized with dynamic characters, and stimulating one with engaging narrative voices, strong plots, and epic conflicts. Her works are as complex and as distinct as her person; a delightful combination of eclectic and antiquated. Therefore, the mere mention of fitting into one set genre is laughable. The multi-genre decadence is where she showcases her magnificence.

Earth 8-8-2 comprises of two short stories revolving around 2 young ladies who are unique in their own right and way.

Genesis is the experimental end result of Dr. Frederick Scott's scientific research and genius. She is quite different from the other residents of Earth 8-8-2 for she possesses many gifts that make her creator/father, who combined her genetic materials in his laboratory, swell with pride and view her lovingly as his daughter.

Early on, we discover that Genesis is not only his daughter, she is to be utilized by the oppressed group "The Rebellion". She is the weaponized response to Earth 8-8-2's oppressors who were/are in control of this alternate earth for as long as anyone can remember.

Called "Experiment Eight-eight-two-dash-five-point-o" (882-5.0) by General Townsen, the leader of The Rebellion, he cares very little about any minute details that concern Genesis. All he wants to do is treat her as the proverbial "Omega Weapon" to tip the scales in his favor as well as the residents of Earth 8-8-2.

I will not say any more about this story at this point. What I will say that it contains various elements that kept me enthralled with its details and gripping storytelling up to the end of the last sentence.

I saw no flaws in spelling, grammar, or anything that would be considered a literary foul. It is a smooth read that was completed within an hour (according to my timeline on the morning of Saturday, May 9, 2015).

I spoke with the young Ms. Y. Correa that afternoon and voiced my praises to her. At the same time, it told her that I had one complaint: this story was too short. Like Genesis, I yearned for more of this read just as she yearned for more out of her young life.

OK: THAT is the last thing that I'll say.

Also, Ms. Correa gave us a bonus short story immediately following the story about Genesis: a story about an 8-year-old names Camielle.

I could go into her story, yet I will say that both Genesis and Camille are two different young ladies who are extraordinary in their own way. They were nurtured lovingly by those who surrounded them, and they made a decision to shape their separate existences. No: these ladies never met, yet even I wondered "What if they did?" in regards to this realm of thought.

My star rating here on Good reads speaks for itself: DO NOT squander the opportunity to read these two stories!

DISCLAIMER: This book was given to me by the Author in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not typically a Science Fiction reader, as a matter of fact, this is one of the few Sci-Fi books I've read. I have to say, I do not regret having picked it up.
In all actuality this story is more than just Science Fiction; it's a Mash-up of Sci-Fi, Paranormal & Fantasy.

My favorite thing about the story were the increments of intermission when the author gave concise depiction of what was happening beneath Genesis' sick.

"Bubbles of dark violet molten lava, rushed like bolts of lightning through the dark. It was a race of otherworldly hemoglobin and cellular structure—colliding as they rushed through veins. It was nature and supernature at war with one another as they knew that they did not belong together."

I recommend this story to readers of Sci-Fi, Paranorm and Fantasy alike. Two thumbs up!

Fascinating and, in the end, frightening. This is something that I can see scientists attempting.
It was a read I couldn't put down. I am waiting to see what this author does next.

Note: I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Through time, from past to present day, Science and Religion seem to be at odds with each other. On one hand, it is strongly believed that elements of God should not be tampered with by the hands of Man, even if the hands of Man serve to improve what Nature has provided.

Why would a God see destruction occur on Earth and not step in to save it? Is it really as simple as the premise of “Fate” or a “Revelation” foretold in a book?

What if this tragedy was designed, in order to have science collaborate with the concept of Salvation in order to provide a peaceful resolve?

These are the questions I asked myself while, and even after, reading “Earth 8-8-2: The Genesis Project”.

Dr. Scott serves as a version of God (or even a modern day Dr. Frankenstein), creating this hybrid being designed to be a futuristic rendition of Jesus Christ (named Genesis)—whose purpose is to save his Earth by being a central weapon in the Rebellion's cause.

As time goes on, Dr. Scott’s role in the Rebellion and his role as being Genesis’ father become tangled. He knows what he has designed Genesis for. However, like a father seeing his daughter off to do bigger and better things, Dr. Scott is not quite prepared to let go, nor is equipped to deal with what Genesis experiences during her sea of rapid maturity.

Then, you have Genesis who is going through her own turbulence. This reminded me of one being the next heir to a royal throne, without being given a choice in the matter.

At first Genesis seemed willing to follow along and consigned to her purpose, but when tragedy begins to strike in different directions, it generates a deeper questioning. When Genesis’ inner turmoil bubbles, then gushes, the denoument is a peace and purpose that can only be obtained when one has reached the threshold.

Or, in the words of Popeye the Sailor, “I can’t stands it no more!”

“Earth 8-8-2: The Genesis Project” is many things. It’s a twist on a story of Science in Its attempt to save the world. It’s the examination of a modern rendition of Dr. Frankenstein and how he relates to what he’s created. It’s the intensity of raw emotions and how they are channeled by a newly created being. It is the culmination to this summit: Are there times when science should just let nature do its thing? Also, what happens when the very elements you thought you could control … you find out much too late, you cannot.

What a phenomenal science-fiction read! I cannot wait to see how everything turns out.

If this other books in "Earth 8-8-2" are as well crafted as “The Genesis Project”, the magnificence of this work could even outshine the luster of “MarcoAntonio & Amaryllis”.

I highly recommend and will be obtaining this beauty in paperback. This is a work that has something for the newbie to sci-fi and paranormal as well as the seasoned veteran of reading these particular genres.

Hello, Desire here! Let's Talk. Before I go on, just letting you know I received this ARC in exchange for my thoughts.

Observation (and this is just me being me), but the cover doesn't really draw me in. To me, some of the earths look a bit like beads.

Moving on.

I am very glad the author went into detail describing how the Rebellion came about and what each earth represented. Without that, I would have been somewhat lost.

The emotional detailing of the characters garnered the bulk of the enjoyment for me, in particular the shift of Dr. Scott seeing Genesis as more than an instrument to save his earth. I also found Genesis’ bonds with Jiles and Mrs. Tucker heartwarming.

The action sprinting towards the end was extremely voracious and seemed to end way too soon but functions to set up anticipation for the next chapter in this series.

Here are some things that were deterrents for me:

1. I had to give a re-read to piece together that what I thought were random descriptions were not actually random but of the main character’s disposition. Unfortunately, it was one of those times where the attempt to romance the words left me a bit stranded.

2. More dialogue to accompany the narrative would have provided a showing me the action, as opposed to simply telling me.

Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 Stars (rounding up to 4)

Overall, this is a very strong read with the promise for great things. I will wait to see what becomes of Genesis and Earth 8-8-2.

Note: I received this ARC for me to say what I normally say, or give an honest review.

I found myself scuffling to get my thoughts together on this work.

One of the things I've been challenging myself to do is crawl out of my cave of preference in genre. Although this has drips of paranormal drama, the presence of sci-fi is pregnant with this read.

Dr. Scott is an admirable guy but comes across as a bit pretentious, too. I don't think he should have cared so much about acceptance and his role in the Rebellion. Other than being the creator, I didn't find myself developing any type of fondness for him.

Jiles felt a bit more "human" in the human department. Not that any of them are really "human" but are prototypes of human form.

The descriptions were very nice, and two thumbs up for the breakdown of the different earths, along with the different theories.

Genesis intrigued me but I did not get fully invested in her until chaos ensued. The twist that occurred made me double check the author because that sounds like the type of thing I'd write myself. (slow grin)

Rich story that deserves attention. I will definitely stay tuned for the next chapter. Glad I took a chance on this one.

A thousand Earths have been discovered, but it’s the 882nd Earth that gives title to this compelling science fiction piece. Author Y. Correa’s story dishes in Multiverse Theory, taking readers on a journey where multiple Earths are inhabited by vastly different beings.

One Earth is occupied by Vampires dwelling on a dark planet. Another Earth is home to super humans, those endowed with extraordinary gifts. Gods lay claim to yet another Earth.

Scientist Dr. Scott creates a super being, meant to be a savior, with DNA from four different Earthlings from four different planets. While his goals are well-intentioned—hoping to save not just his own world—Dr. Scott is misunderstood by many.

Y. Correa has created a story that is entertaining, drawing readers in from the first few pages. It will also cause readers to contemplate the real world in which we all live.

At 82 pages, Earth 8-8-2: The Genesis Project is a quick read. But don’t let that fool you. The author manages to pack an awful lot into those pages. A fantastic read for sci-fi fans and for those who love a good story.

I admit I’m not a huge fan of sci-fi, but thanks to this story, I’m changing my tune.

Earth 8-8-2: Genesis is about a creature made up of DNA from four different plants. Together, the DNA fuses together to give Genesis superhuman powers in order to help her rescue her planet from The Rebellion. The idea behind the story is great, as I was reading it, I felt like I was watching a movie. In fact, I could potentially see this book being made into a movie one day.

The pacing of the story is steady. I like how the author takes the time to explore Genesis’ growth and the bonding with her caretakers. Reading the scenes, you can feel the emotions as she comes to terms with what she is and what’s happening to the world around her.

The accumulation of events gives way to an explosive ending, I won’t reveal too much, but it does set the stage for the next installment in the series.

This is one reader, who’ll definitely be reading the next volume to see what awaits Genesis.

Genesis... The beginning...is exactly that. This story takes us to a not-too-far distant future and drops us in Dr. Scott's lab, and his idea for salvation. We see and feel his passion for his work and his commitment to "save not only his world, but every world." His vision is misunderstood by more than one and the story 8-8-2 really takes off.

Y. Correa knows how to develop the characters, with each one finding their own special place in the story and becoming a key component in the plot. If you are into a story set in the sci-fi/futuristic world, grab this one. I enjoyed the plot and premise and the author's imagination in creating this brand new world.

This could be the beginning of a longer tale and I look forward to finding out what might happen next.

Yasmin Correa's stories are not only beautifully written but strangely engaging as well. I felt strongly drawn to the MC and her creator and adored the quality the MC possessed.
You are in for a treat. I would have loved to read more of it
