I realize we must make some allowances for early readers, and I do -- but this is terrible.

The first story is particularly awful, what with its happy ending being a pocket-sized monster who helps the kid cheat in math class. WUT?! That's the end? Of this early reader short story? For early elementary students? Yes. Yes, it is.

The other two tales in here are okay -- not actually *good*, even allowing for early reader constraints, but not bin-worthy, either. They are more tall tale-ish.

Given the plethora of early readers out there, there's no reason to spend time or money with this one...

The monster stories were appropriate and the endings were good. They were not scary and the monster would always loose. Kids will love it.

Half of this series is good for one reading only, and now we are nearing the end of the 40 books set I start to hate them.
This one is not so bad though, the stories are not scary for a 5-6-yr-old.

I was underwhelmed, but I was struck by how this was one of the only books I've read to my 6-8s that keeps both girls and boys engaged the whole time.
