When I was eleven years old, I was published for the first time. I wrote for a local newspaper, and my stories landed me on the local news. The next year, I was published in a poetry collection. At fourteen years old, I got even more serious and began my first novel.
Through high school I avidly pursued my career, writing and reading constantly, attending writing workshops, meeting local authors and interviewing them, joining the local writers guild, working at a bookstore, and beginning the study of creative writing at a university level when I was sixteen years old.
At twenty-two years old I began an intense, structured apprenticeship under a published author and NYU professor, where I learned about editing, writing, and publishing.
