Former WWII B-25 pilot and retired CIA station chief Carl Bridger is called back to action during the Bosnian-Serbian war, as he learns that his grandson's F-14 Tomcat has been shot down by a Serb missile. Cody Bridger and his Radar-Intercept Officer have been taken captive by a ruthless and sadistic Serbian Colonel. Carl learns that the U.S. government will not attempt a rescue mission for fear of breaking down the fragile peace negotiations. The Last Raider is about a Navy F-14 tomcat pilot is told to fly over restricted and conduct surveillance over the Bosnian-Serbian Civil war. He successfully gathers his info, and is returning back to base. His co-pilot calls out missile. He goes down over the war and turns into a POW. As his grandfather is working on his own B-24 he receives a phone call from his son. He says that his grandson is a POW and is being held by the serbians. The grandfather works with his sons company to outfit his B-24 to partake in a rescue mission. Running from the law his grandfather and a group of friends take off and make the long trip from the West coast to the War to retrieve something that is his.

I like this book because it tells the true power of courage and hard work. The jump from his grandfather to his son is amazing and pulls it off very well. The character are easy to attach to and griping in every way possible. The backstory of every character is interesting and dangerous. It also shows what some people can do with power and connections. Love is also displayed throughout the story in a variety of ways. Ultimately it's a great book to read any chance you get.

Beautiful, Aviation/action/adventure. Reminds me of the novel by Danielle Steele titled Wings.
