Yet another enjoyable cozy mystery in this series.

Since I'm back in MT, I had to go check out some of their books! LOL I had started the series last year, so we'll see how much time I get to read this year.
This is a continuation of the series with Shannon McClain and the members of the Purls of Hope knitting circle in Oregon. Shannon finds herself sleuthing again, because of one of her friends has been accused of murder. Plus her friend from Scotland, Coleen ...came for a surprise visit too!
Apple Grove, Oregon is having their first dog show and pet fair and Kate is in charge of organizing all the booths and getting the competor's where they belong. But there's a dark cloud hanging over Kate, as the Sheriff Grayson thinks she should be at the top of the suspect list. But with the help of Shanon and her side kick Watson (a.k.a.Coleen) and her friends they will try and help solve this murder investigation.
Plus Shannon gets asked on a date with Michael...or is it an official date or just a "thing" for his employees? You'll find out when you read this book...and also a little excitement at the party as well. But I don't want to give anything away.
At the end of the book, there was instructions on how to make "Lavender & Lemon Handmade Soap". But I'm not feeling that adventerous...although I bet it smells heavenly!
Nice cozy mystery book to read! I'm ready for the next one in the series...

The Purls Of Hope have organized the first Apple Grove (Oregon) Dog Show and Pet Fair to benefit the local animal shelter. Of course something is going to happen that will upset the smooth sailing of their hard work.
The Purls of Hope are friends with different backgrounds that knit and socialize. Kate, Betty,Joyce, and Melanie work as a groomer, baker, & hotel co-manager. Coleen Douglas arrives in Apple Grove from Scotland where Shannon was her bestie.
Shannon McClain inherited from her grandmother the Paisley Craft Market and Artist Lofts. Shannon added the Espesso Yourself as a coffee bar. She's an amateur sleuth who manages to tick off Chief Grayson on more than one occasion. Michael Stone, a former police detective that now works as a security consultant, manages to stir up Shannon's romantic interest.
Millicenat Downing is the murder victim in this cozy mystery. Why would anyone want kill her?
There is a very large cast of possible murderers. Local and out of towners are all on Shannon's list. Twists and turns happen while the Dog Show procedes. Will Shannon solve this mystery? See if you can match wits with Shannon and Chief Grayson.

Between 3.0 and 3.5 stars (rating shown may vary depending on whether site allows half star ratings).
Shannon's friend Coleen returns for a visit!
Otherwise, I found this book not as enjoyable as others in the series--it is odd because the mystery centers around a dog show and I like dogs--but not so much the competitive nature of the show circuit.
I still like the Purls of Hope (club--mostly knitters) and that they are all good friends to each other. I'm growing a little tired of murder being the focus of Shannon's investigations. It would be nice if a different crime could be featured now and then--stolen jewelry or art or other expensive item that would involve jail time because of the amount it's worth, insurance fraud/alleged insurance fraud, etc.
I was so excited thinking that the authors were moving Michael and Shannon forward in defining their relationship but it seemed like 1 step forward, 2-3 steps back which is a bit frustrating.

Read this to preview for my 9 yr old daughter who was given the book. Nothing of extreme quality in it, but also nothing of consequence to be worried about. It was a fairly light, quick read and a bit cliche, but moderately entertaining murder mystery.
I approved it for my daughter, but advise consideration of what your children are capable of handling. There is no language or sexual content and only very mild descriptions of violence. Because my kids love Harry Potter, and my daughter's advanced reading level, I'm not concerned with her ability to handle a little suspense and "scariness."
After discussing it with my daughter she compared it to Nancy Drew, which is a much better explanation of the content then my above ramblings. Lol.

This is an enjoyable cozy mystery. Apple Grove is having its first Dog Show and Pet Fair. A murder happens, a dog goes missing, and Shannon's friend Kate is on top of the suspects list. What a delightful mystery.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. It drew me in from the beginning and moved at a fast pace all through it. It left me wanting to know more about this lively character who couldn't seem to avoid mischief.
