About the author

Dr. Verna Benner Carson is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric
Mental Health Nursing. As an Associate Professor at Towson
University in Baltimore Maryland, she teaches Undergraduate and
Graduate nursing students the importance of loving the patients
that God puts in our care.

Dr. Carson is the President of C&V Senior Care Specialists, Inc., a consulting firm that provides clinical training combined with operational and marketing support for two programs she developed: “Becoming an Alzheimer’s Whisperer” and “Road to Wholeness Behavioral Health.”

Dr. Carson has published nine books – five of which focus on various aspects of spirituality. The latest published in March 2009 is entitled, "Parish Nursing: Stories of Service and Care." She is a nationally known speaker, frequently serving as Keynote speaker, on a variety of topics
including spirituality in nursing; the care of the patient with Alzheimer’s disease; and psychiatric issues specific to home health care.
