Explores the possibility of life on other planets, covering such topics as our exploration of space, reports of UFO sightings and alien abductions, and famous extraterrestrials from movies and television. Reprint.
I remember reading this book as a child, so it is really interesting coming to it with fresh eyes. The book has a very "magazine" like quality to it, almost like an annual the likes of which were really popular in the 90s.
The thing that surprised me the most is how level-headed, sceptical and non-sensational this book is. I had sort of expected it to play very loose with the whole "fact or fiction" concept, thinking it might lean more towards the "Ripley's believe it or not" school. The UFO cases that are presented in this book are all given rational explanations (sometimes multiple possible explanations). It also explores lots of concepts like communication with potential life forms and the possibility of life on other planets with surprising depth and is much more grounded than I was expecting.
I imagine a lot of the information within is out of date now, but I really appreciate that the book has been written sceptically and with an eye on reality and science.
