An examination of aging and intergenerational issues that illuminates the transformation processes which occur in the context of forced migration. It is primarily a study of family, intergenerational conflict and adaptation, the role of elders in the community, and changes in social identity. Case studies show the changes that refugee families undergo in resettlement. A revised version of the author's Ph.D. dissertation (U. of California-San Francisco/U. of California- Berkeley, 1992).
