A creative approach to a popular novella genre
Although I have recently read several similar novellas, Emily’s discovery of her late Gram’s Bible with its highlighted passages and extra heartfelt prayers specially intended for her to find, give Ms Cain’s story increased depth.
A reunion with Luke, her close friend from high school, reveals his devotion to his Hartwell community, including having spent many hours keeping her Gram company.
An inspiring, well-written story, which can be read in an evening, with the author ensuring good continuity and detail in her storyline, an aspect often missing in short stories. The reader remains fully engaged as Emily struggles with uncertainty about the best choice to make for her future and with Luke’s patient and supportive attitude.
I received a promotional copy of this book via BookFunnel, and this review is my honest opinion.

Finding the courage to stay

This was the first book I have read by the Author and it was a pleasant read. It was an emotional read but not overly heavy. There is a good Biblical theme of prayer throughout. That was a selling point for me; the title also drew me to try the book.

Emily has a big decision to make in the midst of grief, but discovers strength through reading her grandmother’s Bible and her written prayers sent up for Emily over the years.

Luke is such a good man, steadfast and gentle. He has waited so patiently for Emily’s return.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a shorter, refreshing Christian read. I received a copy through a promotion and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

A nice story. Realistic characters, feelings, and situations. Felt a bit rushed for the story line but otherwise nicely put together. A nice happy ending. I look forward to seeing them in future books and reading more in the series.
