Declan Rawlings was six days from leaving Bradyville and beginning his service contract as a Marine. Without warning, the storm of the century pinned him against Justice Rose, a girl who had broken him more than once in his short life. And she did so by being his contradiction—the one who made him feel. He could see the war in her eyes, the abuse she hid. How strong she was. Though faultless, he blamed himself for not seeing it sooner. For the first time ever he doubted the only path he ever saw himself living. Their one night was meant to be an end, but instead opened a Pandora’s Box of small town evils spurned by jealousy, which was seeded in family strife between the Rawlings and the Souters. The missing, the murder, the cover up, the abuse, all of it should have been enough to divide and test the love between Declan and Justice, but it was nothing compared to the hell they wreaked on each other’s hearts. Fighting for what she loves, what completes her is a war Justice cannot afford to lose...her Marine told her to fight.
I'm an obsessive daydreamer. Lover of loud alternative music. I love to laugh until it hurts. Fall is my favorite season. Black is my favorite 'shade.' Strong believer in the saying: there is a reason for everything, therefore I search for 'marked moments' every moment of everyday...and I find them. Life is beautiful!
I know this booked worked some people. But not me.
I just couldn't get past the abrupt POV changes in the middle of chapters. It prevented me from connecting to any of the characters. And it killed the flow of the book.
The plot line is interesting but unfortunately the layout is what killed it for me.
I will continue to read Jamie's books as I have enjoyed some of her other ones.
The road to happiness is never easy. Declan comes from a family of military men and it is his turn to go into the military. He is looking forward to it but he has to leave the one girl that he has always wanted. Justice knows that he going and that she will never get her chance to be with him. Declan knows that he can't go after her but he forgets his head and takes what he has always wanted. Justice knows that it is going to be hard without him there as her father is a drunk that beats her and she has a friend that wants so much more. She has no idea how her life is about to change and how one person will make her life hell. Declan thinks about her all the time and he misses her so much but he knows that he will be seeing her soon. Once Declan returns to see his family does he realize that his brother Nolan is missing and no one knows where he has gone. The more Declan digs the more he learns about Justice and what her secret is. He thinks that his family has given up on finding Nolan and he takes out his anger on Justice and he walks away from the one woman that will love him forever. Can Justice find the strength to go on , her world has fallen apart and she can't tell Declan as he needs his head in the game and she is lucky to have friends that have her back. Will Declan feel the same about her after he hears what happened, she can't bear it if he hates her. Declan is so madly in love with Justice that it scares him and he just doesn't know if he can provide her with what she needs. Can the family find closure know that they have been able to find Nolan's resting place?, there are still so many unanswered questions that I hope we get to find in the next book. A very intense love story that has so much pain, anger and so much forgiveness. Really enjoyed it. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house to share my honest thoughts with you.
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Declan Rawlings comes from a rough but loving military family. For as long as he can remember, his main goal was to enlist in the military and leave his hometown forever. There is just one problem with his plan-Justice Rose. He has loved her since he was just a boy, and now that the time has finally come for him to leave, he doesn't want to leave her. Justice's life has been anything but easy. She has kept a deep dark secret from everyone even her best friend, Nolan Rawlings, and the boy she has always loved, Nolan's brother, Declan. When Declan and Nolan leave, the brothers and Justice have no idea that each of their lives are about to be forever changed.
