I found Vai, to be a very good, if a bit sad, wrap-up to what has been a story that has been living in my head for a while now.
This book did a good job of leaving much of the ending in the dark until the very end. I thought the ending would be per the usual type of ending that so many books have, but I should have known better.
This entire series is one that I would struggle to tell people about without giving spoilers. It's too wonderfully complex. It evokes feelings of love and loss, and shows just how complicated a human life can be.
Vai shows that everything comes together in the end. That all things have meaning.
This is truly one of the most complicated series I have ever read when it comes to emotions. It's not something that a simple book review can explain. You'd just have to read it. It's like actually experiencing the full life of someone, from beginning to end.
This series has been a wonderful read and will be in my head for the rest of my life.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️likely the most expansive story ever written and glorious in its entirety!
Vai, book three, was a bit of a surprise. I love the introduction of the new wildcards and the ending, as well as the first chapter, caught me off guard in the best way. I want to thank V. Casa for trusting me with an early copy of this wonderful trilogy and I cannot recommend it enough if you like time-travel and epochal transits of growth and emotion.

You know the feeling when you read a book that feels totally original, one you can't really compare to anything? That's how I felt about each of the books in the Vai series, which were provided by the author for the purpose of reviewing the final one, coming out this month. So, many, many, thanks to her!
I picked up the first, Vaieon, expecting a fun read about a human trying to survive among dinosaurs (Lily is a mom who gets sent backward in time for some reason). It was a blast watching her work out basic survival while desperately trying to avoid T-Rexes. And, the halfway twist actually did send me. Living in a tree, making her own clothes and weapons? How could one squishy human survive??
You see, Lily has been made immortal through a process, and for reasons, she doesn't understand.
Lily doesn't know why she can't be killed (many things should have done so), the limits to her life, if any, or what. So she's faced with the question:
If you were immortal, how would you choose to spend your life?
With others, knowing you would have to grieve them all one day? Or alone for eternity?
I picked up the second book, Vaionaut, excited to see how Lily would handle what I knew would be coming her way next (having survived the dinosaurs) only to once again be sent realing by a left hook, the author fearlessly tackling an even more massive timescale and stellar scope in this one. Literally.
For this final book, Vai, I realized I had no idea what to expect and decided to just enjoy it. That was the right call. With books like this you just need to be along for the ride while the author does their thing.
Lily still doesn't understand what has happened to her or why, but she has found companionship at last.
Unfortunately, Lily has now outlived Earth, and indeed the human race. She finds herself on another world, watching a species much like early humans. True to form, Lily makes for herself another family.
But especially for Lily, nothing lasts forever (except her, maybe) and nothing is perfect. What follows is finally some answers, and maybe, an ending.
I did find I needed a healthy dose of the suspension of disbelief regarding evolution and social/language development, but it was really worth it in order to enjoy the conclusion to this epic saga.
I'm so glad I read this series. It reminded me that writing can be a playground. That there are actually no limits when you set out to tell a story. Friends, if you can't tell, I highly, highly recommend.

This story starts differently than the first 2. It actually caught me off guard. We have a shipwreck on an unknown planet, and the men onboard end up discovering a tomb. Whose tomb is it? Why do the bodies look unchanged? And why do they have nail piercing their heads? I also found myself asking how in the world this situation would even tie into Lily’s story. I got my answer halfway through the book.
But the crux of the story still rests on Lily and her newest journey. She finds a new home, a new found family, and more joy-despite her immortal life. She also, once again, comes across the beings, and their slick, modern technology, that made her how she is-causing her fear and anxiety. She knows what their presence could mean for her new home, but she hope her cautionary tale will keep danger at bay. Sadly, pain and anguish find her anyway.
But juxtaposed to her fears coming true, she experiences a joy beyond words. Her love, Kwan, that she searched endlessly for, finds her. They never stopped looking for one another, and refused to give up. And once they’re reunited, they team up with another couple to fight the evil that is plaguing the land they call home, and get answers from the one source that is responsible for everything that has happened. Their journey ends bittersweet, but they finally find peace and know that their story is coming to an end.
This was a perfect ending to Lily’s story. Her beauty, kindness, and never-ending hope brought joy everywhere she went. She lived endless lives, and endured much pain, but it was balanced with love beyond measure. This slower paced series was a delight to immerse myself in, and I’m sad to see it end. If you are a fan of the journey that is full and rich, but complex, stories that immerse you in imagination, this book/series is for you. 5 stars♾️

This became one of my favorite trilogy 😭💕 And can we talk about how the covers of all three books perfectly capture what each book deliver?
Okay, so the final book, Vai, is an amazing ending to the series.
The first chapter was horrifying, monstrous, and inhuman. I was literally biting my nails wondering what happened to them because I had absolutely no clue 😭 (Those who have read the first two books will understand.)
Later, the story has a slower pace with a lot of buildup, so you have to give it some time. I did feel a little bored in between at a few points.
But the story was absolutely worth it.
The plot twists, the emotions... I was literally on the verge of crying, but at the same time, I was so angry 😭 My heart genuinely felt so much while reading this book.
The characters, the connections, the love... everything was so beautifully done.
And that mind boggling ending 😭 Just put yourself in Lily's place and think about everything that happened. You will feel it.
And my gosh, Lily 😭💕 Oh babe, my heart is going to ache for you forever.
But I can assure you guys... it's a happy ending, which is honestly the best thing and something I always look forward to ✨🌷🪄

I loved the first two books of the Vai trilogy, and a month after release, finally got to read the finale! The entire trilogy spans such a vast amount of both time and space, but it still manages to tell such a fascinating story in each book and as a whole.
This book is where everything comes full circle, and it was so worth the wait. I wasn't expecting this to go where it went, but it made for such a good ending that I think Lily deserves after everything she's gone through. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened to her, and I finished the book in one sitting because of it!
I won't spoil anything because I think it's worth reading yourself, but I was so amazed at the way V. tied the events we saw happen in "Vaieon" into the events of "Vai" in the way that she did.
The plot of "Vai" itself was also something that I really enjoyed. Despite so much happening for a final book of a series, everything made sense by the end and I finished it feeling as though it was all explained well.
Overall, reading this series has been so enjoyable, and I really loved the ending to the book and the series as a whole.

What an adventure this series has been. We have gone through time. Book 1 was back in time, book 2 was present, and this one was in the future in a new place where they have to find their path to make sure they all survive. But when I tell you this one not only takes you through time as well, but it brings new characters (some good, some bad), the sceneries are beautiful even if you can see them you can imagine them. This series is beautiful and I have enjoyed following Lily through time and seeing her go through it all without giving up. It has adventure, it has happiness, it shows the dark side of some stimulation, shows the evil in some people and the good in others, it has it all. Plus seeing Lily and Kwan different pov gives me joy to see them never give up and give it their all. Sad this trilogy is over but so happy i got to read it ♡

Oh my goodness!!! This was such a good last book.
You know it's a good book when I find myself pacing my apartment while reading. I couldn't put it down, feeling the dread spiral and needing to know what was going to happen. I definitely binged this book because I could not put it down.
I love how well V pulled everything together from the first two books, and it all culminates here. It was masterful. The story was, yes, very tragic, but also so mysterious, and I loved putting it all together as I read.
I 100% recommend this book!!! Just a warning: you will lose sleep over this. 🫣🤭

What a way to end a trilogy.
This trilogy is definitely worth the read. All your questions from book 1 will be answered and it is satisfying but also not predictable, at least not for me. And that’s what made it so good.
The opening of the book starts in an unexpected way, and the author does not shy away from getting the point across that something terrible is happening on this planet. But why? And how? And what planet?
Things are revealed when they need to be and when it’s most effective.
And the ending of Lilys journey? Again, so satisfying. So worth the read.

Wow! What an incredible series! This book perfectly wrapped up all the questions we've been asking in the past two books, while also introducing more.
I can't say enough good things about the Vai series. It leaves the readers with so many topics to think about while also telling an amazing story and making us feel every emotion possible. Beautifully done. I have a new favorite author. ❤️

This book is a fantastic conclusion to an intriguing trilogy; it will grab hold of you from the very beginning and not let go until it is finished with you.
We continue to follow Lily, our immortal FMC who has somehow survived, died, and survived again in the void of space. She has now landed on a young planet and has a choice: to give in and wallow in heartbreak and despair, or find a way to begin all over again. Her eternal fascination with the natural world and her determined, peaceful nature lead her to an ape-like community, and she starts a whole new journey.
V Casa writes about such a hugely transformative timeline, human experience, space travel, immortality, morality, and choice in ways that you cannot help but keep gobbling up. Through her main characters, we see a world that could be, how peace could thrive, and how humanity could survive and thrive, even when faced with immense threats. Now that Lily has a new world filled with a new population of humans, her tormentors have turned up. The cloaked, dangerous time travellers have landed on her new planet, and she must work together with the new nations of this planet to decide how to cope with them.
I started this book by shouting so loudly at the first chapter, like, what do you mean!? It does an insanely good job of hooking you in and encouraging you to fly through the story, following Lily and this emerging civilisation, the new challenges, the arrival of the other immortals, and how the story concludes. V Casa writes a fantastic conclusion to a genuinely epic timeline that spans eons, and like chaos theory, we see change and growth but constant recurring patterns. It is beautiful to explore this new world; it is emotional to relive the traumas of our main characters and their heartbreak at being separated and searching for each other.
It is so hard to review this book without spoilers, so I am going to end this by saying: if you want an epic trilogy covering insane timelines, events and details, but with a totally human and emotional focus, with a strong adult female main character as the lead, then do not look any further. I have never read anything like it.

I'll be honest, the beginning had me confused. For about the first half of the book, I wasn't entirely sure where the story was going or how everything connected. I found myself questioning what was happening, but once everything clicked, I really appreciated what the author was doing. Looking back, I wouldn't have wanted it to start any other way.
What I loved most was Lily's character arc. After following her through millions of years, it was so rewarding to see her story come full circle. One of my favorite aspects of this series has always been watching her grow, and Via reminded me that growth never really ends. Even after living for millennia, Lily is still learning, still making mistakes, and still becoming a better version of herself. That felt incredibly authentic and made her journey all the more meaningful.
Like the previous books, this isn't a fast paced science fiction adventure. It's a thoughtful, character-driven story that asks big questions about identity, humanity, and what it means to truly live. The slower pacing gives those themes room to breathe, and I found myself reflecting on them long after I finished the final page.

The series took us on a long journey through time, and I was eager to learn how everything would come to an end.
After Earth *ended* in the previous instalment, Lily starts building a new life on a new planet. She balances interacting too much with civilisation while still leaving her mark. Time passes, and she is once again faced with the loss of the people she has come to know, but she also gets the chance to experience them growing up and witness future generations.
When she learns that the people she met in the past, who were responsible for her immortality, are also on this planet, she becomes curious and wants to know more without putting anyone in danger.
The story starts with a bang, instantly raising the stakes and making it clear that something dangerous is lurking. It took a long time to find out how it connected to the overall story, but once it clicked, it felt well-rounded and brought everything to a perfect ending.
Every book in the series feels unique in its own way while remaining true to itself. Wanting to feel a connection to others, looking for someone to be there for you, sharing experiences, and supporting one another: these were constant challenges and themes Lily had to face.
In the end, the main question becomes one of the consequences of our actions. How much should you intervene if given the chance? Or should you stay away?
It felt like a satisfying ending to an ambitious series. It felt unique and different to me, and that is what makes it special. It is one that I will remember for a long time.
After Earth *ended* in the previous instalment, Lily starts building a new life on a new planet. She balances interacting too much with civilisation while still leaving her mark. Time passes, and she is once again faced with the loss of the people she has come to know, but she also gets the chance to experience them growing up and witness future generations.
When she learns that the people she met in the past, who were responsible for her immortality, are also on this planet, she becomes curious and wants to know more without putting anyone in danger.
The story starts with a bang, instantly raising the stakes and making it clear that something dangerous is lurking. It took a long time to find out how it connected to the overall story, but once it clicked, it felt well-rounded and brought everything to a perfect ending.
Every book in the series feels unique in its own way while remaining true to itself. Wanting to feel a connection to others, looking for someone to be there for you, sharing experiences, and supporting one another: these were constant challenges and themes Lily had to face.
In the end, the main question becomes one of the consequences of our actions. How much should you intervene if given the chance? Or should you stay away?
It felt like a satisfying ending to an ambitious series. It felt unique and different to me, and that is what makes it special. It is one that I will remember for a long time.

I had the pleasure to be a beta reader for the last installment of the Vai series, by V.Casa. I am glad I was, as I was excited to read about the conclusion of the story.
After reading books one and two, we are left with many questions. I was really looking forward to getting mine answered.
A lot happens in Vai; right from the start, we are plunged into action. Then, the story picks up and from there, a LOT happens. The book is fast paced, not a dull moment.
I was very satisfied with my reading; the way the author pulls you in the story is very captivating. I was hooked from the start. To me, the saga ends on a beautiful note.
I find it worth mentioning that from Vaieon (V.Casa's first effort) to Vai, the author clearly has grown and learned, as her writing has matured improved a lot in terms of grammar, syntax, flow of the story.
Highly recommended reading.

With how the second book ended, I'm glad I didn't have to wait to read the final book in the series.
It's a brilliant story of a new world starting out and once their version on humanity evolves, it becomes a story about epic betrayals, found family and a brilliant conclusion.
It also had a dual POV section which fits in perfectly.
This was a fantastic finale to the trilogy and the whole trilogy needs to be on people's TBRs.

The final chapter of the Vai Trilogy. Beautifully ties up all the threads from the first two books, ending in a fascinating show down. The book unpacks the paradox of time travel, grappling with immortality and the finer nuances of human psychology when faced with the possibility of unchecked power. Insightful and gripping!

Vai is the third and final book in the trilogy—and OH MY GOD, it was so good. Everything was wrapped up in such a satisfying way. Books 1–3 connect beautifully and truly bring everything full circle. All the questions I had finally got their answers.
Vai opens with a completely different tone and approach. There’s a much darker undertone to the story compared to the previous books, and honestly—I’m impressed. We’re introduced to entirely new characters; some are absolutely incredible, while others are truly awful in the best possible way. Like I said, this is definitely the darkest book of the three, but wow, it delivers.
Lily now finds herself in a future where Earth has fallen, and we’re welcomed onto a new planet. Earth has reached its end in a devastating way, and that shift in setting adds so much depth to the story. Once again, we follow Lily as she navigates her challenges—especially her immortality, which turns out to be a priceless asset to some.
