Actually painful

So I made myself finish this because I guess I’m a masochist with books. First and foremost, if this isn’t written by AI I will eat my phone! It may have had a human editing pass, may, but the overall text is definitely written using AI. The story has WAY TO MANY minute details about everything. In most instances 200 words were used where 5 would have been sufficient. This is highly indicative of AI writing, also the constant stop breaks. Everything. Is. A. Period. Statement. Everything. Is. Written. Like. This. Basically.

The story itself is interesting, but it has no emotion to it. The MC is cold and clinical about everything. Either he’s deep in the spectrum or he’s a sociopath with no real emotions, just simulating some. The world building is atrocious. All these horrible things being perpetrated in the countries premier power academy would NOT go unnoticed for decades!! People with power whose kids suddenly died would ask questions, the death curve would have been noticed way sooner, and it just creates this MASSIVE plot hole that is glaring and stupid.

Overall the story had potential, but the author was lazy and used AI to ruin it. Also the fact that he releases 500+ page books a month apart…. Yea no one but a computer writes that fast. Author should be banned from KU.

Kafkaesque - DNF

I’m about 30% in, and the story has been engaging so far, but I’m rapidly getting bored with reading about all of the dysfunctional bureaucracy involved in training to be a heroine. Where is the romance? The spice? There is intimacy, but it developed so fast it kind of feels like a speedster slamming on the brakes. And other than that one scene, it’s been the slowest of slow burns.

Do these women ever go on patrol? I want to read about epic battles between good and evil, not about maintenance tickets that are processed on schedule without anything ever being done to repair the cracks in the system. But so far it’s been all about this exhibition match being put on by the academy. Yes the match itself was attacked, but that took up about half a chapter, and then it was back to describing how the system failed to prevent the attack in the first place.

And how does Dane even have powers? Because so far it’s been clear that only women can become heroes, and not a single mention of any other man with powers. If there was an explanation for this situation then I missed it in all the exposition about how the system itself is crumbling.

An interesting premise, but similar with the frequencies to some other series

I certainly enjoy the book. The setting is not quite fleshed out, but the bad guys are. The biggest question I have is it's an Academy but there really wasn't any learning. It was all about the abuse. The women that have powers only seem to be demonstration. But we don't know what they're actually taught, or used for when it's not demonstration. The story is all about the control of these ladies and how it's slowly being broken.. Good series that I'd like to see more body to the Academy. So to speak.

It's good

This book delivered on everything it promised was a decent superhero adventure story so they were great fights. But the main character was smart which was quite the novelty for this step of a book with the main heroes ability to keep other heroes powers from ripping themselves apart and heal them and amplifier their power in the process and gained just a little bit of it for himself, it may seem quite a versatile and Central character. I apologize for any spun errors cuz I'm writing this review with voice to text mainly for the author's benefit because I feel he deserves the extra boost

okay I’m going to say it

I’m not sure if this author has other books that are well written or not. This book, on the other hand, is so obviously written using AI generators that it’s painful. It reads like every ChatGPT post and info block that’s made for content farming in Facebook. The way it flows, the way sentences are structured, even the words used.

There is nothing short of a Time Machine to go back and watch it written in person that would convince me it’s not AI enhanced, if not completely written by AI.

Enjoyable story but repetitive at times

You will need patience for the story as there’s a lot of repetitive information being thrown at you left and right. The characterization is good. The story plot is enjoyable and the spiciness is there for sure. The main character is an interesting original character, but much like the Regency Romance stories sometimes we’re gonna be seven page or eight page long-winded repetitive information so look out.

This has allot of potential, but this book's writing was horrible, multiple reused lines with in a chapter word for word sometimes not even a paragraph in difference to which point there were times that i felt like i was reading backwards, or under the assumption i somehow missed something.

As another reviewer said if this wasn't written by AI i would be shocked, absolutely no proofreading was done and the copy paste statements or paragraphs tend to get very annoying

good concept bad execution

Overall I like the concept but the writing quality gets in the way.

Feels like it was heavily passed through an AI editor.
Paragraphs and concepts are repetitive and it slows the pace down too much. Some of the scifi concepts make no sense and aren't explained. The main character's job gets handwaved and fluffed however necessary to get him in position for the plot.

Not that good

TL;DR- feels like it's written by AI.

This book started slow. I didn't get past page 74. I usually finish every book even bad ones but this one feels like the main character is a machine and has no feelings. The other characters are boring. Could've gotten better maybe?

Pretty Good

It’s not bad but I am not a fan of the writing. It feels very aloof and impersonal. Very hard to explain, almost like all the characters have a detached personality and kind of soulless. But that’s more of a preference so I didn’t mark it down for that. Otherwise the story is fun and well written. But for me it is the characters that make or break it.

Great

I really underestimated just how good this book would end up being.I normally am not one for smut, but the plot, character development and world building did a more than adequate job of making me not care.

meh…

Interesting premise. The story doesn’t flow too well though. Probably won’t read the next in the series. The characters were interesting. Kind of a rip off from The Boys, but at least their weakness wasn’t Kryptonite like substance….

Reads like ai slop

Author seems to be a slopper. Or has decided to mimic the writing style used by all the sloppers.

Not sure which is worse?

AI slop lightly edited and smeared on the reader's screen. The signature AI move of describing things in multiple short sentences instead of using commas. Repetitive and jarring. Disjointed and odd. Disconcerting.

Then the AI obsession with its own made up numbers. In the first chapter we are told over and over and over that a Super used 30% more power than the official data showed.

So that meant you never really connected with any characters, even the MC comes across as very dry and with no agency. Just as bad, the sex scenes are weird. Not like kinky weird or BDSM type. Odd and cringey.
