Pete Kelliher and the FBI thought the boys were safe. So did their parents. So did the hospital staff. In fact, everyone thought the boys were safe. That is, until people began dying.
More than a hundred arrest warrants were served and those who took part in the human trafficking ring were arrested. However, six dangerous men escaped and go into hiding. Led by Detective Anthony Dominico, these men vow revenge on those who forced them to run and no one is safe. Not Brett McGovern; not his younger brother Bobby; not George Tokay; not the twins, Randy and Billy. These boys are in danger and live in fear that at any moment, they could be murdered along with their families.
Worse, the FBI has no clues and no leads. Not even a place to begin looking.

Bringing this issue forward is a tremendous step toward understanding the horrific damage that happens to children that are preyed on. But the thing that throws me into turmoil is something maybe I can't understand, being that I never experienced such a life changing experience. That being all the hugging, kissing and the "love" word used throughout this book. That seems a little over the top for 12-14 year old boys. I understand their need to be together but I would also see a need for some them to want quietly (and alone) to mourn there loss of innocence.
I highly recommend this series. From start to finish. It's disturbing, compelling, well thought out and has quite an impact. I especially liked George. Hard topic to tackle without crying. But, kudos.
Shattered Lives continues the series about the boys who were rescued from being kidnapped, abused & used as sex slaves in a cross-country sex trafficking ring. Incredible how deep the list of traffickers & the lengths they went to go after the boys & their families.
This book is painful to read not because it’s poorly written but because it is so well written. The characters git in my heart the pain they endure made me put the book down more than once. But I finished it, the story continues in book three.
Very serious subject matter but a really good story line. Definitely worth reading. Really endearing characters and I couldn't help but want to keep reading to find out what happens.
