MM sports romance, where our characters are trying to figure out their feelings and how to ne together. Its a fun read. I enjoyed both characters and the story line, but you will have to read to find out the ending.
I really wanted to like this book because it is set in Indiana and it is gay hockey. I enjoyed the addition of cats and some of the quirky dialogue. However, I feel like there were a lot of things wrong with this book for me. For starters, there were some grammatical errors and typos that irk me and take me out of the storyline. There’s also the issue of plot holes.
For one, how did they magically have each other’s numbers? There was no exchange or mention of how they got there. I feel like their relationship progressed very quickly which would normally be fine but I feel like in this case we skipped too many steps.
Preston started the book as a cocky womanizer that was overly obsessed with women. Somehow he does a 180 and turns into a very feminine character. I’m all for character development but this felt like an unnatural change. He spent the last half of the book crying in some form-over families health, the distance, sex (you name it.) The man whore to twink pipeline was crazy to me. Additionally, Kenny was said to have had an MI and a stroke. The chances of that happening are 0.009% and while not impossible are extremely unlikely. It felt misconstrued.
The language like “Presty Buns” and “numbnuts” felt very elementary to me.
I also feel like I couldn’t get into their relationship because it was so quick and full of disrespect. I feel like Preston’s constant need to vocalize how sexy Casey, Tia, Jasmine, etc are around Parker is gross and in any other relationship would be considered disrespectful.
Idk. Just my thoughts but I could not get into this at all.

I'm so grateful Claire provided me with an advanced reader copy of Interference! When I saw her posting about this book and when the cover was shown on social media I was super excited to dive into this story! Normally I do not read a lot of sport romance, mainly because I do not understand sports very well (oops!). But I think Interference may have gotten me into the genre! Preston is such a funny, lighthearted character and I really enjoyed the friend group dynamics in this book!
This is a fun read that is perfect for any time of year!
If you are looking for a gay, spicy, emotional, romance this is for you! I easily clicked with Preston and Parker. Part of me hopes once this series is complete, (go check out Claire Mackenzie to see about her future books on her socials) we maybe get a novella? 👀
