One of the best field guides for the birds of the Indian Subcontinent. It's best among the ones available in the market with beautiful illustrations with very clear distinctions as to how to identify the birds in the field. It's even beginners friendly and I suggest this to anyone who is interested in birds.

What is this book about?- This is a textbook. A fantastic reference for seemingly almost all the birds in the Indian subcontinent. It is very well classified as per the common names of birds and more importantly, it gives the Latin classification, plumage, song, special characteristics as well as concise information on each species.
Why do I read this textbook?- I keep seeing so many posts of my Facebook friends. So many of them fantastic photographers, posting pictures of beautiful birds. I wish a lot that I get to go birding to different places; but I admit, I am slightly lazy to do so. Hence, I decided to do some study of the birds that I see on the social site. An armchair birder! May be some day I get that inclination to go real birding. ;-)

Superb for beginners and intermediate birders! Plus points are beautiful illustrations and detailed descriptions which help in many cases, but on flip-side, the maps need to be updated I think.

a must have book for an indian birder. Second edition is hardbound and easy to carry on field trips with maps and calls provided.
