The Aries Appointment

Four years after her baby is kidnapped from a Miami oceanfront estate, a grieving mother takes desperate action. Enter Morgan Sterling, a fourth generation astrologer who helps lost clients find their way. Teaming up with Daniel Kane, a blundering police detective, the pair track a cold twisted trail where nothing is as it seems, and facts are muddied by rumors and lies. Crisscrossing South Florida, the investigators stir up secrets like a stick stirs snakes. Along the way, the duo reopen old wounds that land them in the pit of their own darkness. The Aries Appointment is about a search for meaning and truth on many levels. It is the first novel in the Celestial Mystery series.

Although I always wanted to be a writer, I ended up with a PhD in toxicology and did postdoctoral research in infectious immunology. I began writing when I moved to Kenya, where I worked as a freelance science editor and writer. I was heavily influenced by the poverty and corruption in the country and my novels are a mixture of science, politics, and the misuse of power. I studied creative writing at Humber College and the University of Iowa, and screen writing at Indian River State College. My first novel won a Royal Palm Literary Award in 2004. Originally from Toronto, I now live in warm, sunny Florida. I've written three novels: 'Black Death in a New Age,' 'Gold Street,' and 'Harm,' and I'm hard at work on my fourth. I am a member of the Mystery Writers of America.

I received this book from a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I loved this book. At first I was going to give the book a 4, because I thought it got a little carried away with the astrology, but then I realized that I loved the story and now wanted to go and learn more about astrology, so a 5 it is. I was disappointed that Morgan never was honest about her past, but I hope that means that she will have another chance to do that in another book. I highly recommend this book.

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, as I am not a big fan of astrology. This story is more than just astrology, it is about a kidnapping and what a mother will do to find her child. The pain and suffering of the unknown to the parents and those around them. I enjoyed the story very much. Thank you Reading Deals for providing me a copy of this book. The review is voluntarily done and my own opinion.

The author obviously knows astrology and the astrological content can't be faulted - but for me personally i was disappointed that there wasn't any work to figure out yourself if you're into astrology and enjoy doing so!

THE ARIES APPOINTMENT
Celestial Mysteries: Book One

Author: Kathy T. Kale

Type of Book: Autographed Paperback

Length: 345 pages

Genre: Celestial Mystery

Release Date: March 21, 2015

Publisher: Pollux Press

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

* I received an autographed paperback copy of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

In the interest of full disclosure I feel that I must mention that I read one of Kathy's books previously and absolutely loved it. The title of that book was HARM and it was an amazing read and definitely worthy of a 5 out of 5 star rating. Because of how much I enjoyed her previous book, I was thrilled to receive a copy of THE ARIES APPOINTMENT from the author.

Four years ago, a baby girl was kidnapped from an open bedroom window. The police searched, the FBI investigated, but it seemed that baby Sierra had vanished into thin air.

Sierra's parents are rich and at first everyone (including law enforcement) assumed that a ransom would be demanded. But no ransom was ever demanded and no one ever heard from the kidnappers again.

Ir is now four years later and Sierra's mother, a once beautiful and vibrant young woman, has left guilt and grief overtake her entire existence.

Morgan Sterling is a a fourth generation astrologer who helps lost clients find their way. She sees astrology as a science and is not a psychic.

Daniel Kane is a police detective, who has vowed to solve the case. He is determined to succeed where even the full resources of the FBI have failed. If that means putting aside his skepticism and consulting an astrologer, well then, so be it.

The unlikely pair track a cold trail where nothing is as it seems, and facts are muddied by rumors, lies and the passage of time.

Can they solve the case? Can they even get along long enough to follow the clues?

Both Daniel and Morgan have dark secrets in their pasts and this case will force them both to confront their own demons.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

"I also took my work seriously. I wanted to solve this cold case. I wanted to show my mother I could apply astrology as well as she could. And, I wanted to find out what happened to the baby. Up until now I thought having your baby murdered was the worst thing imaginable. Now I wondered if having your baby disappear was worse. If Sierra were dead, her mother was living with unwarranted hope. If Sierra were alive, her mother was living as if she were dead. I knew astrology had the answer, if I was skilled enough to see it."

I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not only was this book a terrific read, full of twists and turns, but it also taught me things I had never known.

Before reading this book I had absolutely no idea what astrology entailed. Obviously I had heard of astrology prior to reading this book, but I knew nothing about the how or the why of this science. I found the details absolutely fascinating and if Morgan Sterling lived close to me I would definitely be making an appointment to see her.

The entire book has been great reading experience. Even though there are a lot of cases in between of Morgan which is not related to the case or incidents with neighbors which are also not related, they still give a nice background to the character and the story. You cannot help like the lead character and also gain a slightest insight into astrology.
There were slight instances where certain story lines were kept open and left to explore. But then considering it is part 1 of Cosmic Mystery series, I am hoping for something more to come up soon. I am in love with Morgan and absolutely looking forward to more of her adventures with Daniel.
The story does not lack anything at all. It is perfection in its definition. A wonderful read through and through, it is a must read for any mystery lover and / or astrological fiction lover.

I loved this book! It took off with a start and didn't stop until the very end. really enjoyed the main character Morgan, and I felt that the astrology was quite intriguing. Although occasionally I did get a little lost with the astrology references. There was enough detail given on the subject to understand the concept and it has made me want to learn a little more about the topic. We have all heard people talk about being skeptical on police using astrology/psychics to solve cases however this book I feel gave some insight on how the science of it could be used. I would definitely read other books in this series featuring Morgan and her detective side kick Daniel.

i relay enjoyed this book the way the MC reacted with each other ran smoothly the reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the first part of the book it was hard to get past the long descriptions of astrology that was my only complaint yet after that i was hooked an i cant wait until the next book comes out

I received a copy of this book from Goodreads Firstreads. Thank you very much!

This was an interesting book, the best part of it was the astrology aspect, the rest of the book felt like it meandered along, with a lot of fluff thrown in, when it didn't need to be.
