The Bible is the most famous book in the world, but with over 770,000 words, it can be hard to find your way around. This is where The Bible from Scratch comes in. It's a fun, witty guide to the Bible, giving a lightning tour using cartoons, maps, speech bubbles, family trees, and words where necessary. It gives information about every book from Acts to Zechariah. It provides many intriguing facts about the famous faces and the famous events of the Bible. Whether you are new to the good book or you simply need to understand Philippians in two minutes flat, The Bible from Scratch could be just what you are looking for.
This was just kind of sitting around so I picked it up and read it it's a brief synopsis of each chapter of the Bible with a little dose of humor and points you in the right direction for some of the more important or particularly popular scripture lessons it was okay
A very easy to follow book that provides basic information on each book of the Bible as well as covering common themes and characters found within. This was a great tool to use in discipling my children. There are times where Jenkins shows a less than satisfactory view on the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture as well as his doubts on the traditional view regarding the author's of some books (such as 2 Peter whom he thinks was written by someone pretending to be Peter as to give the epistle credibility). But, this was good in the sense that it showed my children there are other views out there, and being confronted with other views, I think, is one of the best tools to challenge why we believe what we do.
This is a great book if you have lots, little or no experience with the bible. I'm reading through it at the moment and I've learnt many interesting things from it. It is a step by step guide on how to navigate your way around it. It is humorous and has brief but detailed explanations on what goes on in each book. It also explores deeper into some of the main characters and places that occur. I would really recommend reading this!
