The 🌎World is Crying

The island of 💲fifty dollar words, and pointlessness.

Mario thinks his old friend from boyhood, Daniel, is getting too isolated. Mario demands he go to a party with him at the beach on the tropical island they live on. Daniel confesses he doesn't want to go because of a woman, Adrianna. Another young man, Ciprian, has stolen her from him, so he thinks.

Mario tells Daniel he should ask her out, which men don't do in this topsy turvy new world the author has created. This 🌎World is kind of a police state, run by women.

This book is pretty strange and I was not able to figure out the actual reason for the book. The characters are still in high school! The characters also like to use big words, 💲fifty dollar words, Mario especially. The book📑 seemed pointless to me, it seemed like a snapshot out of the angsty lives of some teenagers.

ARC Received from HG for a Voluntary and Honest Review.
I also got the novella with KU.

I received a free copy of this novella to honestly review.

The premise of this story has really great potential. It was interesting to see a story that approaches a matriarchal based society. That being said even as a YA novella I would have like to see this story fleshed out a bit more. The dialogue feels rather rushed and flat. Still, an interesting start.

Short and Sweet! A great addition to the "Fighting for Love and Freedom in a Woman's World" books.

I love the author's ability to create characters that are dynamic and interesting. They live in a world where traditional roles between men and women are reversed; some characters have adjusted to this reversal of roles, and some struggle to follow the rules. Characters often portray typical male and female stereotypes, but in the end, it always takes women and men working together to succeed.
