Rate this book
YOUR BODY IS NOT SOMETHING TO FIX. IT IS THE PLACE YOU COME HOME TO.

In a world driven by speed, productivity, and constant striving, many of us feel disconnected—from our bodies, our breath, and our sense of meaning. Physical tension, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, or illness can leave us feeling like strangers in our own skin.

Coming Home to Embodied Awakening offers a gentle, powerful path back.

At the heart of this book is Qigong, an ancient Chinese practice that combines slow, flowing movements, natural breathing, and focused awareness to restore the body’s natural flow of energy. Accessible to people of all ages and abilities and taking just minutes a day, Qigong helps calm the nervous system, release stored tension, and awaken the body’s innate capacity for healing and balance.

Guided by Master Mingtong Gu, you can learn how to stop forcing change and begin listening, using the body itself as a doorway to clarity, resilience, and spiritual depth.

In these pages, you’ll discover how simple Qigong practices to feel calmer, more grounded, and more energizedSleep more deeply, feel emotionally steadier, move with less painShift from disconnection and self-judgment into embodied presence and compassionSupport healing and recovery from chronic stress, trauma, and long-term health challengesTransform everyday movement and breath into a living spiritual practiceExperience the body not as an obstacle, but as a guide for awakeningBlending ancient wisdom with modern insight, Coming Home to Embodied Awakening is both a practical guide and a profound invitation—to inhabit your body fully, trust its intelligence, and rediscover what it means to feel whole.

You are not broken. You are remembering how to inhabit your body as home—calm, alive, and deeply connected to life itself.

A game-changer in self-help

A game-changer in
the field of holistic healing. It resonated deep in my soul. My parkinson's symptoms have improved since I found this method.

Author and Qigong Master Mingtong Gu writes that his own experience healing from asthma and scoliosis led to the realization that "incurable is medical mythology" that speaks more to the limitations of what exists in the physician's toolbox than to a necessary reality. Predictably the term incurable leads to hopelessness and despair for the patient. In his book Mingtong makes a powerful argument against the prevailing disease/diagnosis paradigm and offers a radical shift in perspective shaped by his personal experience as both a student and patent at the Medicineless Hospital in China, where a 30 day protocol of Qigong is the treatment. After years of practicing and teaching in his own unique style, his book offers a path to liberation through coming home to the body where the doctor is always in the house. With a blueprint of practices that build upon thousands of years of wisdom to accompany you, Mingtong has provided a thoughtful and passionate companion to healing QiGong practice. The book gave me a framework that synthesized and deepened my understanding of the underlying principles of healing QiGong . Still, it is difficult to convey the profundity of practices that are experiential and communal in nature. For example, the sound practices described in the book were entirely new to me and having an opportunity to experience them with Ming Tong in the healing Qi field was beyond what words on a page could possibly convey. If the book speaks to you as it did to me, I highly recommend an online or in person workshop with Mingtong. It just might change your life.

With clarity and compassion, Master Mingtong unerringly guides us to return to the safe harbor of who we truly are. He has revealed the missing piece for many on or off the spiritual path--truly inhabiting and loving our body as our home. I am learning to do just that through the teachings and practices Master Mingtong generously shares for us all.

Eloquent & clarifying

I’ve studied Taoist philosophy since I first discovered it as a Humanities undergrad. I’ve read many books, meditated for decades, got a Master’s professional degree in Taoist acupuncture & herbal medicine, and had many teachers in this field.

But Master MingTong Gu writes as he speaks, with such fine-grained clarity and simplicity that is so helpful to students whose understanding of the world and of themselves unfolds more effortlessly than with any previous teacher with which I’ve studied.

Whether the reader is a neophyte at qi gong and meditation or a long-time
practitioner, they will find this book filled with wisdom and new insights.

I appreciate having come across MTG’s work and his online weekly practice sessions and lectures. There’s nothing quite as valuable as finding a teacher that makes this delicate study that is Taoism so readily accessible and applicable to one’s life and happiness!
