A concise handbook by a highly respected meditation teacher.Written in the tradition of John Main, the pioneer who revived the Christian tradition of meditation, this book is an ideal introduction to the discipline of daily meditation.John Main called the practice of meditation a pilgrimage to our own heart. Laurence Freeman adds that "the solitude of meditation cures our most painful loneliness and reveals that we are in a deep and essential relationship."For anyone who seeks fullness of being and a deepening of his or her spiritual life, Christian Your Daily Practice is a perfect guide. Here are practical essentials of meditation leading the reader to the still centre of prayer, "the human consciousness of Jesus worshipping God in the Spirit."

Short and helpful introduction to an ancient Christian practice
Many people believe that meditation is an exclusively Buddhist practice, yet this powerful technique dates back to the early Christians. Sadly, it has been lost to much of the modern church and often viewed with suspicion, which is a shame as the world needs a way of finding God away from the noise of the world and our internal chatter and distractions. Christian meditation creates space for God's Holy Spirit to "break through" and avoids an over reliance on our own words. It works alongside other forms of prayer and worship : I follow meditation with intercession and scripture. This short book describes all you need to get started with this simple, but often challenging, practice in just a few chapters.
This is a very useful guide to Christian Meditation as taught by John Main. Freeman concisely covers the background and the process and includes a list of resources for further reading. As an introduction to Christian Meditation, this is a very useful book.
This is good for what it us. Be aware that this is a very short introduction to the practice of Christian meditation with list of resources. That being said, there is a lot of wisdom in here. I found it helpful.
Fantastic link between meditation practice and christian way of prayer. I never had heard about it , and feel myself enchoraged to practice. Months ago , I felt how important it was for me.
