Plot 37: How to build an effective allotment

Rate this book
Plot 37 is an account of my journey, evolving from a novice gardener to a proficient ‘Allotmenteer’ in just one year. I’d like to share with you the experience of discovering a hobby that will enhance your lifestyle, last a lifetime and give you a new found appreciation of nature and a sense of pride in creating something from nothing.
Along the way you can share my humour, successes and frustrations as I transform a desolate council allotment plot into a structured and fertile growing machine that is producing quality vegetables and flowers all year around. I will talk you through the principles of constructing an allotment and guide you through the pitfalls of creating an allotment. During a night of boring television I began channel hopping to find something interesting to watch as I sprawled on the couch like the proverbial potato once again. By chance I stumbled upon a gardening programme called Gardeners world on the BBC and became interested in a piece being presented by the host Monty Don on vegetable growing. As I watched him plant his seeds another seed began to germinate in my head – I could get an allotment!
The rest as they say ‘Is history!’ – read on.......
