Winds of Fate Waves of War: Shadows of Asgard Book One

Rate this book
In this captivating new portal fantasy romance Shadows of Asgard series within the Gods Among Us Universe, three women's lives are entwined in one reeling from the loss of her family, one fleeing a broken heart, and one without her memory. Can they overcome the secrets and betrayals surrounding them to find answers and trust the men they've fallen for?

No one could have predicted the car accident that took the lives of Anna’s parents on a rainy Seattle street. Grief-stricken, she hides in the arms of a dark-eyed stranger whose deep voice and powerful touch melt her frozen body and teach her how to live again. But there is something odd about him, and when the truth of her debt-ridden parents' estate comes to light, a deal to pay off all her debts for five years of work on Muspelheim is too enticing to resist. So what if she's only human, and she didn’t know dragons and other planets existed until now?

When Valkyrie Mist of Asgard visits her parents' home in California, she assumes the worst she'll deal with is their narcissist tendencies and shallow lifestyle. They've never seen eye-to-eye on her decision to become a Valkyrie. Still, it gives her somewhere to lick her wounds after the Elven Sea God's betrayal pierced her heart. But the oceanside home isn't the haven she'd hoped for when enemies decide on payback. They didn’t count on her catching the eye of the demon dragon lord, Prince Pazuzu, when they stranded her on Muspelheim.

Who are the people surrounding her? Why is this baby calling her mama? In a single moment, Princess Shannon of Asgard forgets her soulmates, her friends, and her son. Asgardian medicine can't find a solution to her curse, but the Elven Goddess of Memory might be able to help if Shannon can gather the ingredients for the potion. How hard can it be to collect a feather from a Jotun snow griffin, blood from a Niflheim lilu, or nectar from an orchid that only blooms during Vanaheim's full moon? Oh… and let's not forget a scale from a dragon only found on Muspelheim, home of the ancient enemies of Asgard.

If you enjoy dark romantasy with magical powers, soulmates, mythology, shapeshifting creatures (dragons!), action, love triangles, and feisty female heroines paired with steamy morally grey alpha males wrapped in power dynamics that walk the fine line between choice and coercion, you won’t be able to put down this spellbinding story. Don’t miss out on this thrilling new series within the Gods Among Us Universe.

Please This HFN novel has no romantic cliffhangers for the main characters.

Winds of Fate Waves of War is the 4th book in the Gods Among Us Series and the 1st book in the Shadows of Asgard Series by Melody Grace Hicks.

I have been reading this series since book 1 of the Gods Among Us Series and I have been in love with the series since that 1st book. Now we enter a new era of the series with this new part of the series entry Shadows of Asgard.

I have really been interested in Mist’s story, and while you could technically jump into this part of the series without reading the original trilogy, I have to say that you would be missing out on a lot of background, a lot of character development, and a lot of history if you skip over those first three books.

Winds of Fate Waves of War is primarily Mist’s book and I have to say that this is a much spicier book than the previous three. We get secondary characters stories when we meet Shannon, Loki, and Elatha. And there are other characters that we get to meet through this book that we start off thinking off as evil but rather we quickly realize could possibly be friends to Mist, but in getting to that point we get a ton of spice.

Winds of Fate Waves of War carries so much of the same vibe and feelings, the same depth, the same thrilling excitement of the original trilogy.
And just like in those three original books we find that there are mysteries to solve, friendships to find and watch blossom, and love to find and find refuge in the light of a new second chance.

I am so excited to continue to read the next book in the Shadows of Asgard series and the overall Gods Among Us series and I can’t wait to see where Melody Grace Hicks takes us next.

Ive been following this series for awhile now and have been interested in Mist's story. I like that I can technically just read this off the bat but it would be nice to have the backgrounder of the previous books (note for new readers). It carries the same vibe, the same depth and the thrilling excitement of the previous books. As always, there are mysteries to solve and also love and friendship! I can't wait to keep reading through the series!

Started reading this author with Origins and this book is even spicier and more interesting. This one is Mist’s book and wow. There is a side story of Shannon and Loki and Elatha. We meet new characters that start out being what appears to be evil but instead become possible friendly contacts for Mist but getting to that point gives us a ton of spice. Can’t wait for the next book

They're is nothing more frustrating and satisfying as a book that gets you going. This next book in the gods amongst us series is SO FRIGGING HOT. I love that it is two separate writings while being intertwined. Not sure how i am going to make it until the next book, I may just reread the entire series while waiting.

While this is Mist's story, other character's stories are interwoven to deliver a wild tale that just drew me in and had to see how it would all play out and how the others fit with Mist. Interesting story, characters to wonder about, and a few surprises along the way to keep things interesting. Drama and intrigue kept things hopping.
