Honestly, the ending was very unsatisfying. I don't know what I expected, but that wasn't it. I enjoyed the lesbian rep, I thought it was very casually done which I enjoyed. However, I do not like the way DiPietro paints a stereotypical picture of a powerful woman who is anti religion and a lesbian - not all lesbians are atheists. I really thought Abigail would get some sort of consequence for talking to Danny?? She did not. I thought her parents were portrayed pretty accurately and I liked the way that DiPietro didn't soften their conflicts. I also really liked Claire's transformation into being religious, I thought that was also really well done. The juxtaposition between Claire wanting to learn about God to be with a man, and Claire wanting to learn about God despite her husband's beliefs was interesting. I liked that they had Abigail finally touching Claire as a big plot point, but I don't get the significance there. Claire thought it was meaningful, Reggie knew it wasn't, and the reader will never know. Maybe that's the point!
Idk, I didn't hate it but it did not change my life. I liked Abigail's monologues.
