Microsoft Office for the Older and Wiser: Get up and Running with Office 2010 and Office 2007

By Sean McManus

1.) I used/use this guild as a resource when teaching Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel 2010. The book is organized into 3 parts (one for Word and Excel then a third for PowerPoint and other features of Office 2010) there are sub-chapters in each part. The chapters teach you how to use each program through projects, for example creating an address book to learn features of Excel spreadsheets.

2.) The book has impacted my service greatly; it helps me to use wording/analogies that help older students understand Office better. I used some of the projects as supplements to the courses and there is a great website that offers expanded content: www.pcwisdom.co.uk. There are summery lists at the end of project chapters that review key skills and steps to completing tasks. They make great handouts!

3.) If you are working with older learners this is a great resource because it makes the material very easy to understand. I recommend using it to supplement course materials and for incorporating new projects into existing course materials.
