I enjoyed this book very much. The butterflies are what attracted me to this book. But I also loved the flowers in this book. I learned a lot from this book about both. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Flutterby!

I like butterflies, it was free, it's for children, and I wanted to. Sure would recommend for children. Since I am considering something that involves them. Read.

Pretty and informative

This book would be good for young kids in elementary grades. The information was very good and they'd be able to do a good book report with it.

I actually got this book for my SO because he's pretty bad at knowing flower and butterfly names. Why do I care? I wasn't always blind so I know what some things look like. It's frustrating for him to say there's a pretty flower and it's yellow - but that's about all I'll get. Sure, he may say it's tall, or delicate or frilly - but it'd be a lot easier for me to picture it if he started with saying it's a dahlia or whatnot. He know roses, tulips, calla lillies and sunflowers but that's about it. Same issue with butterflies.

He said the photographs in this book for both sections are really beautiful. There's no captions to tell you what the different butterflies pictured actually are except the monarch image is identified. The text has interesting info about butterflies, but not the info I hoped. The photos in the flower section are sometimes (not always) too close or only at one angle so that you don't necessarily walk away with a clear enough sense to be able to spot it in nature. Interesting info, like a fun fact, about each flower is shared.

We're not sure for what age group this book is specifically intended. It's not for little kids because there's a number of big words and we don't think this would hold their interest. We have a friend with a young daughter who points at every flower and butterfly, but she wasn't interested. For somewhat older kids who are particularly interested in these topics, they would undoubtedly appreciate the info shared but would share our frustration at not knowing butterfly names and not being able to draw all the flowers included accurately. Showing it to a few kids illustrated this theory. The pictures are beautiful and there's some interesting info and perhaps it's not the end of the world that it leaves you curious. That could be turned into a trip to the library or how to search the web or prep kids before they're going to do a flower or butterfly activity at school or in a club. But this book on it's own is unsatisfying. I received this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.

Famous Flowers And Butterflies: Beautiful Blossoms and Flowers for Kids
Very colorful children's book about butterflies and other insects. Starts out with fact about the butterflies in easy to understand words.
Next section is about certain flowers and again the facts about them along with brilliant vibrant color photos.

Beautiful

I did not know that there are 15000-20000 species of butterflies, the symbolism of certain tulips, or that the word daffodil comes from asphodel. Good book for kids. Beautiful pictures.
