This book is a cautionary tale of people that making bad decisions.
This is the second book I've read by Mr. Garrett. I give Irreplaceable a 4-star rating. I truly enjoyed this book. The storyline was different but original. I was able to follow along, visualize the characters and the author's every detail as I read this book nonstop. The cover was refreshing and light.
I love the fact that Arizona wanted to change his life and his lifestyle. He was tired of his misgivings and decided he wanted better for himself and new surroundings. A fresh start. In a new state with a chance for a new beginning, he was accepted so openly from Kate and her parents and eventually found love. It's not every day that you meet someone who invited you into their home and life without any concerns or hesitation. The whole town accepted to the out-of-towner. Mr. New York, the man everyone wanted to meet. Already the subject of all the buzz, once everyone, including Kat, found out he had access to something they all wanted, Arizona was an instant celebrity.
His downfall was going against everything he vowed not to. Arizona went back to his old ways. He allowed the pretty blue-eyed Kate to sweet talk him back into the game. He couldn't resist that smile and the temptation. The root to all evil. Money. Arizona was making lots of it and fast. How could he not resist? He never was in possession of so much money.
In the game, the fast life you have to watch your back and your so called friends. His friend and business associate betrayed him. The loyalty and trust were out the window when one got caught up and greed took over the other one. Little did Arizona know, his time was running out. If it wasn't for Kate' father getting a tip-off regarding an arrest warrant, he would've been up the river. He barely made it out the line of fire, Thanks to Kate's family connection.
I really had hopes for an optimistic ending. Considering every event that took place, the author did a great job with the conclusion. Arizona rather be with the love of his life and broke than in prison for the rest of my life. All the money he left behind wasn't worth losing his freedom. This book ended well and left an opportunity for a sequel.
