This fascinating treatise was first published in 1856 (Antoine Stradivari, luthier cilhbre). Its chapters detail the history and development of the violin family, old master Italian violin makers and an analysis of the bows of Frangois Tourte. Filled with historically documented and fascinating details about the evolution of stringed instruments, of violin making, especially that of Stradivarius. Includes similar information regarding bows.
This slim volume offered excellent fuel for my novel in progress.
