Sadie and Aiden are high school students who are best friends. When they are dared to spend the night in a supposedly haunted cemetery by a wealthy friend of theirs, to the tune of one thousand dollars, they agree to the challenge, thinking it’s easy money. Little do they know what lies in store for them in the Shadow Valley Cemetery, because on that particular night, a group of clowns are up to something in the cemetery. Something sinister. Something wicked.
Something that Sadie and Aiden get into trouble for after they discover the cultish ceremony. Now they have to try to run for their lives!
I don’t know how old Sadie and Aiden are, only that they are high school students, but it seems like they have a good, strong friendship. They have been friends for forever and they treat each other like brother and sister. This strong friendship will help them as they try to find out the truth behind what they saw that night at the cemetery, as well as fight whatever it is they are up against.
This story has a lot of surprises. These surprises kept me reading to find out more and to see if anybody else discovered the dark secrets of Sadie and Aiden’s ancestors. I loved how they both did research to find out why there was a group of clowns doing some kind of weird ritual in the cemetery. Both of them worked to get to the bottom of things and they both act bravely when they come up against clowns trying to kill them. They make a great team.
The ending of the story was very satisfying. Everything is pretty much explained and wrapped up at the end. I liked how Sadie and Aiden’s friendship remains strong no matter what happens in the story. I also liked how their relationships with their families grows stronger after everything the two teenagers went through.
The Horror of Shadow Valley is a suspenseful, frightening tale of a secret cult of clowns and horrifying family secrets. This YA horror novella is a must-read for fans of horror, as well as anyone who enjoys reading stories about freakish clowns committing terrifying crimes.
Aiden and Sadie have been friends for as long as they can remember, but, then again, in a town of only about 8,000, such as Shadow Valley, lifelong friendships aren't beyond the realm of possibility. One day, Sadie contacts Aiden and asks him to meet her at Miller's Pond. Intrigued, Aiden goes agrees to meet, only to see her conversing with the rich kid in town, Danny Davis. It turns out that Danny has a proposition for the pair. As tonight is the anniversary of the death of Felix Bergman, the very first mayor of Shadow Valley, Danny wants to offer them $1000, to split, if they can stay the night in the cemetery, where, it is rumored thay the ghost of Bergman rises, on this night, and roam the grounds. Danny tells them that if they can get a picture of the ghost that the reward would double. That would be $1000 each! Piece of cake, right? Not exactly. While in the cemetery, Aiden hears a weird sort of drumming, and goes to investigate. The scene that he comes upon is bizarre, violent, and unlike anything he has ever seen in his life. A collection of clowns in a sort of ritual. Calling over Sadie, the two observe the strange happenings. Forgetting that there was a flash on the old Polaroid camera that Danny provided them with, Aiden snaps a picture, and alerts the clowns. Now, in a race for their lives, Aiden, and Sadie must figure out the secrets to what it all means, as well as figuring out who they can trust, and how to survive the horrors of Shadow Valley. I absolutely loved this. This is a YA horror, and really gives me those vibes, and brings me back to reading R.L. Stine books growing up. This one will hook you, and shake you up. There are definitely elements of horror, but, there are some funny moments, as well, and made me laugh, because of how the two main characters acted toward each other, as friends. I would definitely recommend this to people of all ages. 4⭐️/4
The Horror of Shadow Valley by Jerry Blaze 🌟🌟🌟🌟(3.5 rounded up) This is an entertaining & short mysterious horror story. Murder, voodoo, curses and clowns, oh my! Aiden & Sadie were bet $1000 that they couldn’t stay over night at a local cemetery. And they would get double that if they could catch a specific ghost on camera. They definitely couldn’t say no to this offer! During their overnight adventure, they came across a scary ceremony involving clowns!! These clowns were not friendly and the hunt was on. Aiden & Sadie were determined to get answers of who these frightening clowns were, and what they were doing out at the cemetery. Has the town of Shadow Valley been cursed? What is really going on? This is a fun short story, but wasn’t quite as intense or exciting as I was hoping for.
I was lucky to get an arc of this well written, spooky story! *It comes out March 20th!! Check it out!!*
Got this book as an arc from the author! Thank you very much Jerry Blaze! I enjoyed the whole plot of this book and loved the twists and turns I also love the fact that voodoo was involved! Definitely recommend if anyone loves a good clown horror!!
