New York socialite Evie McKenzie is happy. At least, she tells herself that she must be since she has a ring on her finger from the man of her dreams and the city’s hottest speakeasy named in her honour. But a secret job as a gossip columnist brings the elusive and sinfully seductive Jack Taylor back into her orbit, and resisting him is twice as hard second time around.
For speakeasy manager Tug Hadley, the roar of the twenties is practically deafening – her eyes and ears are full of opportunity, and she’s ready to grab life with both hands. If only the man she loves weren’t engaged to her best friend… Beneath the bootlegged booze and beaded flapper dresses, Evie and Tug must decide how much they’re willing to risk to get what they want in this most decadent era of high-stakes hedonism.
I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.
I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)
I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I'm not kidding. The list. It goes on.) But the one I love the most is writing, in part because I get to meet people who love books and stories as much as I do! Please don't hesitate to get in touch to say hello, and don't forget to join my newsletter!
There is so much to love about this book. It is a fast paced read, with great character development.
The story picks up from where Prohibited left off with Evie and Roger headed toward wedded-bliss, but Jack Taylor resurfaces and the sparks fly. There is also the story of Tug, Evie's best friend. While Evie has lead the life of a socialite with all its advantages, Tug's life has been anything but with her mother leaving the family, and her father reverting to a drunken lay-about. Tug is on her own, and works towards becoming a successful club owner, but all does not go to plan. And, with their stories set against the backdrop of 1920's New York, you are in for one great read.
The Glittering Life of Evie McKenzie by Delancey Stewart
In the time of glitz and glamour, debutants, and speakeasies, Delancey Stewart delivers The second book in a dynamic and empowering story during the prohibition era of Evie McKenzie, her gal pals Janie And Tug. Each girl travels a path unique to her and all learn the lesson of following their hearts. I devoured this book and hated to see it end. The characters were written with such depth and flare it was easy to imagine being within the pages. Stewart's apt for descriptive imagery steals the show! I can barely wait to begin her next series: Girlfriends in Gotham, Men and Martinis #1!!!
Fantastic read! Evie continues her search for independence & happiness in the roaring '20s. I like the additional story of Evie's friend, Tug. These ladies have a lot going on as they sort out their path to happiness. The story had me guessing a few times! I really was not sure how this would all end! Great story and wonderfully written!!
