The Lapse of Lunaria is a 'Why Choose' pirate romantasy. Anastasia meets Pirates of the Caribbean vibes about lost identity, a treacherous journey, and a cheeky ruse. Full of Spice and everything very nice!

Nari has spent her life hidden unknowingly in the town of Narith, believing she is no one worth noticing. But when a group of Seafarers step through the doors of the tavern where she works, her illusion begins to unravel...

Orrin is a beautiful and dangerous Mooncraft wielder who takes one look at her and sees an opportunity, one where he can use her likeness to the lost Duchess of Luneer to earn many a coin for a reward in finding her and securing his way to freedom.

Ro is a fun and lively Seafarer carrying a vast secret of his own. He accompanies Orrin in the ruse, only to become tangled in a past he thought long buried.

A single oath binds them together and sets off a chain of revelations that will unmake the world as they know it. Forced proximity stirs a mixture of emotions they are all desperate to bury but the lines begin to blur between the three.

Between them lie many secrets — some the kingdoms have killed to keep and magic gifted by the goddess herself.

In a world where the sea whispers and moonlight remembers…

Will love conquer all?

Absolutely loved it! It was so much fun diving into a world of pirates and the unique magic system. The main characters dynamic was chefs kiss. So hot. Sommer sure knows how to do spice well. Don’t even get me started on the plot twist. Obsessed. Love love love. ❤️
Thank you for trusting me with an early copy Sommer. I need to hurry and read everything you’ve ever written 😍

I received an ARC of The Lapse of Lunaria in exchange for an honest review.

This romantasy was such a fun escape! The world has strong pirate vibes mixed with moon magic, creating an adventurous and slightly dangerous atmosphere that pulled me in straight away. With action, romance and plenty of spice, it’s a great pick for readers who love a good why choose fantasy romance.

The characters were a highlight for me. Ro’s witty banter kept me smiling, Orrin brought plenty of broody energy, and Nari’s sass made her such a fun and strong presence in the story. Their chemistry and dynamics added both tension and humour throughout the book.

One of my favourite themes was the focus on found family over real family. Watching these characters build loyalty and trust with each other added a lot of heart to the story.

If you enjoy pirate-flavoured fantasy worlds, moon magic, sharp banter and a spicy why-choose romance, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR.

FABULOUS!!
This book had me hooked from the get go!! There was never a lull in plot, dialogue, spice, and revelations!! And all of them were amazing- I didn’t see half of it coming honestly!!

The book definitely gave that Anastasia vibe with the beginning and lost princess- but then took that story and Sommer-Lee made it her own with the pirates, the twists and turns- plus the magic systems which were so creative!

From beginning to end this one had me hooked and I’m so thankful I got a chance to read it!

This is such a gorgeous pirate romantasy. I loved that it was a why choose and that the plot surprised me a couple times. The pace was steady, and while a lot did happen, it didn’t feel rushed.
The only thing that held this back from being a 5 star read was that I really wanted it to be a little grittier and have more pirate action. But the way Sommer-Lee Deaves writes is both beautiful and lets you get lost in the story. I want both a physical copy of this, and book 2 asap.
I received a digital ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Disclaimer—I've never read a why choose. But I'm so glad I read The Lapse of Lunaria. 🏴‍☠️👑🗡

I went into this book not really knowing what to expect. I have read pirate books before, am a beloved fan of Anastasia plotline, and it is well-known that I detest love triangles. But, safe to say, Sommer's book was a spectacular read! I was introduced to new worlds and genre experiences, and the expectations I did have were met well.

While I personally would have loved to see more build up from the Nari, Rin, and Ro (regarding romance) I had a clear sense of who each character was individually and together. Their roles as a group and on the Silverfinn and beyond was clear. I know that aspect is super important in fantasy romances, and I would assume why choose books too!

So, my feelings of the weight between the cast feeling unbalanced at times aside, their backstories were all so interesting and cool and I guessed some aspects but not all of them. Just know that Sommer had my jaw on the floor with AND when some of the information came about.

Speaking on to how the characters acted within the plot—the Anastasia inspiration was strong, which I ADORED. I love that story, and while Sommer successfully added her own flair to the idea of that plot, I loved being able to clearly see the threads of inspiration.

And the worldbuilding! The language! Twas perfect. I wanted more magic and pirate adventure. I feel it helped that Sommer's writing style is so easy to get used to and understand, so it wasn't hard to fall into the story.
But the magic and confidence, she wove these aspects into the worlds culture so seamlessly that I had this fresh feeling. Perhaps that is the freedom she spoke about...

I'm grateful to Sommer for writing with that idea in mind. I truly believe that confidence in one's body/sexuality is so important. So reading a story where these things are so intricately woven into a culture, how freedom and devotion can be same, felt like a reminder we all need at times.

So, thank you Sommer.

And those intimacy scenes? Now I understand why choose 🤣

Some favourite quotes:
"Like a melody that seems to come from the bones of the world itself"
"Ye could talk a fish onto her rod with how persuasive ye can be"
"Even the stars envy the fire between us"

The Lapse of Lunirea releases on March 31st!
I can't wait to see what comes next!

Still Team Rin! ☀️💜🌊

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Lapse of Lunaria has a really fun premise, it felt like a blend of Anastasia and Pirates of the Caribbean, with a why-choose romance woven into the story.

Nari was found wandering a beach as a child and taken in by a kind man who later becomes her adopted father. Years later, she is caring for him as he grows ill. The kingdom’s royal line was believed to have been brutally wiped out years earlier, but rumours persist that one missing princess may still be alive. In response, the kingdom launches a massive search to try and find her.

When a crew of pirates asks Nari to pretend to be the lost princess, she agrees in exchange for their help finding a magical flower that might save her father. What follows is a seafaring adventure filled with pirates, magic, and the possibility of saving a cursed kingdom.

I really enjoyed the characters and the ocean setting, and the story itself was a fun and spicy ride.

For my personal taste, the book leaned a little more toward romance than romantasy. The magic system is present but lightly explained, and I found myself wishing for a few more scenes showing the magic in action. I also would have loved a little more pirate adventure on the page.

Overall, this was a fun read with an engaging premise and cast of characters. I just found myself wishing for a little more magic alongside the romance.

In this “Anastasia meets pirates of the Caribbean” Romantasy, Nari is living a quiet life by the ocean caring for her ailing adoptive father and cousins. When pirates come to town they bring news of a reward for the return of the missing Princess. Nari fits the description and agrees to follow the two handsome pirates back to their ship to claim the reward and in return they must help her find the cure to her father’s illness.

Honestly this was entirely up my alley and as soon as I heard about it I knew I was going to love it.

Sommer-Lee has such a beautiful prose. I love the way she describes her scenes; she’s got a very clear vision and is able to articulate it so well it just rolls through my brain like a movie.

Also, bring back stand alone fantasy! This was adventure from start to finish and we got a full relationship development, back story, spice, coming-into-her own moments and a resolution. I was so sated after this.

Thankyou @sommerleedeaves.author for the ARC 🤍

First of all, I want to thank Sommer for the early copy of this book - what an absolute masterpiece. I loved every single moment. Everything was so vivid in my mind that I honestly don’t even know where to begin. You’re not just reading this story… you’re living inside it. That’s how effortlessly Sommer pulls you into her worlds.

I’m not usually a big fan of pirate‑themed novels, but this?
THIS?!
This is something entirely different. I have no idea how Sommer managed it, but she hooked me from the very first page and kept me captivated all the way through and that’s incredibly rare these days.

It’s a solid 10 out of 10 for me.
Brilliant work!!!!!!!

And let’s be honest… it’s HOT AND SPICY. Especially with those two love interests circling around the main character. I couldn’t choose just one either since it’s impossible. The tension, the chemistry… ugh, perfection!!!!!!!!!!!

I highly recommend it!!!!

I highly enjoyed this novel! I haven’t read fantasy let alone a spicy fantasy in years, but this one captivated me from the very first line. Thank you again to Sommer for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

Sommer’s writing immediately pulled me into a world filled with magic, tension, and desire. The pacing was excellent, and the story flowed effortlessly from beginning to end. I found myself fully immersed in the atmosphere and the characters.

The spice in this book leans more into buildup and tension rather than explicit detail. Sommer does a great job creating anticipation between the characters, which made those moments feel natural and engaging. On my personal scale, I’d rate the spice around a 2/5, but it still added nicely to the overall tone of the story.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book.

4.5🌟 reverse harem 3.5🌶 ARC read mix between Anastasia and Pirates of the Caribbean, but if Elizabeth got both Jack and Will!
It's advertised online as a Why Choose, however, there is no m/m interaction. Both mmcs focus and ravage the fmc, which is better defined as reverse harem and still a great time! The spice scenes are frequent enough but not overly graphic.
I'm definitely an Orrin fan, but both mmcs have great attributes and qualities. Both are pirates.
The fmc, Nari, is where you get the Anastasia type of back story but with a magic twist.
There are a couple of great twists, I enjoyed the read. Fast paced and kept my attention. I was hopeful that I knew how it was gonna end and that I was right, but it kept me on my toes just enough. Definitely recommend this. Not sure if there will be a sequel. It finishes like a stand-alone, no cliffhanger.

What an absolute delight to read this romantasy with pirates! This was magical- in so many different ways. A tale and adventure, why choose which I thought was a bit of a love triangle to start with but why not have both! It was a fun and enchanting read with some twists that I was a bit shocked with. A really really great read that I really enjoyed.

Nari aka Moonbeam and Violet- started off shy and reserved and she got brought out of her shell by these 2 magnetic men, Orrin and Ro- her characters development was crucial to this storyline, she's fiesty, she's alluring, she's caring and soft and nurturing and she brings out the best in the boys, who are opposites of each other but compliment each other as well.

'Yes, she loved Rin—he was her chaos but also her anchor—but Ro was something else entirely. He was warmth and light, and he made her heart burn brighter.'

Firstly, I wanted to say thanks to the author for accepting me as an early ARC reader for Lapse of Lunaria! This pirate romantasy is a why-choose, pirates of the Caribbean meets Anastasia and did not disappoint!

This book was full of action, and had me interested the entire time with the journey Nara embarks on! I haven’t read any pirate books before but this one I would say was top tier - amazing banter, a bit of smut and a why-choose theme that made me keep on reading! The pacing was crafted perfectly and I felt like every beat was met accurately, along with the characters who I felt were very authentic and real!

If you love books that have heaps of action, a journey that remains mysterious, and love a why-choose theme, you will love this book!

first i wanna say a huge thank you to Sommer Lee Deaves and The Naughty Nook for sending me an ARC of this book🫶🏻🫶🏻
Now I haven’t read much about pirates but i enjoyed this and definitely want to get more into them!
It took the first couple chapters to really get used to the language but once I really got into it, it really brought out the story more.
This book was definitely smutty (obviously it’s a why choose) but well written and totally had me kicking my feet at times.
This is my first book of Sommer’s but i’ll definitely be reading more.

Thank you for the ARC opportunity!

Absolutely devoured this one. I laughed I cried I became unhealthily attached to fictional men. I love the way Sommer writes her MMCs because the absolute sass and filth out of these mouths is 🥵🥵

The language was tricky to understand at first the research was clearly done to ensure authenticity with the way pirates spoke. I absolutely loved this it gave such Anastasia meets pirates of the Caribbean vibes.

Cannot wait for more from this Aussie author! Utterly obsessed

Firstly, thank you @sommerleedeaves.author for the opportunity to be one of your arc readers, I feel very blessed.
I don’t know where to start. To say I was hooked by the first page is an understatement. This take on Anastasia and pirate with a touch of fantasy and add ‘Why Choose’ trope was just everything. The strong FMC, Nari kept surprising me throughout. Then there is Rin and Or, no wonder Nari doesn’t choose. Don’t forget about the twist and turns and the smut! It was just the right level of everything and out together so well.

This is a fun and spicy read for anyone who loved the adventurousness of Pirates of the Caribbean but couldn't choose between Jack and Will. Sommer delivered on exactly what she promised readers with this why-choose pirate fantasy. The plot was easy to follow with an interesting and unique magic system that added twists and turns along the way. The political intrigue was enough to keep me hooked without detracting from the romance and relationships that developed throughout the story.

Thank you to Sommer for the ARC and congrats on a great book!

This was my first romantasy, and I enjoyed this a lot. The pirate vibes, the magic and the secrets were a great mix. I loved following Nari as her whole world cracks open. The dynamic between her, Rin, and Ro had me hooked. It was spicy, adventurous, and more emotional than I expected. If you’re new to the genre like I was, this is such a great place to start.

Firstly, Thank you to Sommer for sending me the ARC copy of Laps of Lunaria.

I absolutely loved this book, I found it was just the right mix of all the things I love, magic, spice, plot, found family and world building.
In this story, we follow our FMC Nari, as she heads off on a mysterious adventure to save her father, herself and possibly everyone.
Our pirate MMC's Orrin and Ro are the perfect combination of dark and broody meets sunshine golden retriever.
The tension in this why choose romantasy is also on point. I was hooked from the first chapter and found myself easily immersed in the world of Lunaria and was thrilled to experience a magic system I hadn't read about before. It was so refreshing and I hope Sommer has some more books in store for this world she created.

So if you love a cosy, smuty, pirate adventure with a fantastic FMC, this is the book for you!

From the first chapter I was hooked by Sommer’s storytelling, the introduction to our FMC Nari, her meeting the MMCs Orrin and Ro, and the ruse to impersonate the lost Duchess of Lunaria all made the book’s pacing feel quick and engaging.

This book offers magic, mystery, hidden identities, and an adventure that unfolds across land, sky, and sea.

It was sweet, spicy, heartwarming, and hard to stop reading!
