Main Course: Delectable Things

Sabrina can't believe her ears. The man she's been fawning over for far too long now has completely turned on her, leaving her with nothing. Sabrina decides it's time to get up and get away.

Taking a long over due trip far away from her bane, things steam up really quickly and Sabrina discovers all of the Delectable Things that life has to offer.

Dessert #1: Simmer Sweet

It is said that confession is good for the soul. Does it still ring true when circumstances are complicated? Kesha has finally come clean. She has let Teresa know about her feelings. The only drawback is Teresa's engagement to Chris. Teresa is forced to make a choice between Chris and Kesha. The fallout will be nothing less than a fire of simmer sweet.

Dessert #2: Handy

Darbi has had her share of bad luck. She is unexpectedly in job purgatory and has no chance of ever getting a promotion. Her online dating profile sat months without any responses. Why should she continue?

As she signed on to delete everything entirely, three responses catch her eye. All are different but each has something about them which makes Darbi want to meet all three. Ade appears to be the guy next door. Boyde looks like a supermodel. Choise looks like the rugged type.

When all is not what it seems, Darbi has concluded that her love life is mating with her job status in purgatory. Will anything come in handy to turn her luck around?

In a word?? YUMMY!!

Don't be fooled by the cover folks...

PS/SIDE NOTE: That cover really is pretty damn HOT though!! Love the look of it.

But just because there aren't naked people on it, does not mean that this story isn't chock full of SPICE!!

Following is the premise:

Sabrina is having a terribly awful, no good, really bad day. She's lost her job, her lover and ultimately her way of life. So she decides to take a trip. What does she have to lose, right? NOTHING AT ALL!

Things I loved about this story:

1) This isn't your average, everyday, bounce-right-into-the-sex type erotica. it actually has a story line.

2) The author has a knack for putting the reader right into the story. When your reading these prose, you're not looking at words, but actually living the action.

3) Once it steams up, it stays hot! Incredible job writing the erotic parts. This wasn't one of you atypical foul language erotic books, it actually has descriptive words. Words that form an intense image in your head without resorting to dirty words.

4) Sabrina was believable. And the other girls...? Wooh!! Need I say more?

Overall, this is a book well worth it's weight in gold. I've seen/read lengthier books for A LOT MORE MONEY that AREN'T NEARLY AS GOOD!!

Ms. Desire is definitely an up and coming author that one should be on the look out for.

Well done!!

Delectable Things: Special Edition is made up of three stores. Actually, two novelettes and one short story, if you want to be technical.

· The main novelette Delectable Things is LGBT erotica, along with the short story, Simmer Sweet.
· The other novelette Handy is more contemporary erotica, as it does not involve same sex situations.

Delectable Things itself reminds me of a soap opera. I could even hear the music in the background as Sabrina walked in, thought she was getting a raise when she had to call Tyrone because she was getting the boot. Don’t know what I mean? Google Erykah Badu.

I don’t really do soap operas because I honestly think they are cheesy, but this one is an exception.

The conflict and plot isn’t original but the layout of the events was easy to read and quick to get into. The connection between the characters didn’t feel manufactured and the dialogue was genuine in relation to the style of the characters. It’s cool the blueprint of the characters wasn’t all the same. The resolution was quite clean, and this works. For those who are content with this snippet, they are happy. Yet for those who desire to learn more about certain characters, this opens the gateway for that as well.

Summary of Thoughts: Held my attention from start to finish, particularly the parts with Sabrina and Rachel, as well as Evianne and Vicki. Extremely strong erotica that goes beyond the sex.

Simmer Sweet is challenging to talk about because it is a bit too tempting to give a spoiler, but I don’t back down from challenges so I will give it a whirl.

Out of all the tales, Simmer Sweet was the most acquired taste. Not because I didn’t enjoy the story … keep calm and wait for it. It was because of the construction of the characters, mainly Kesha. There are quite a few stories published that lay out the stereotypical personifications of the bisexual and lesbian lifestyles. Kesha is one of those prototypes. For me, Kesha doesn’t have enough layers to her personality for her to stand out from what’s out there.

With Chris, it’s a similar situation but more as it pertains to his behavior in the beginning than towards the end. I did find myself wondering if there are more men like him than not like him as far as his feelings towards Kesha.

Teresa is the one who held my interest the most. Although she loses cool points for not picking up on the obvious, her overall portrayal was true to her mannerisms.

Summary of Thoughts: Full originality of plot and characters are lost here but the action towards the end is enough to make one blush.

Every time I think of Handy, I get tickled. It’s rare anything makes me laugh that isn’t generated in a sarcastic manner, yet this is the exception.

Darbi is my favorite character. Yeah, she makes dumb decisions. Unlike Sabrina in Delectable Things, some of those scenarios Darbi experienced could not be helped. So yeah, Darbi gets a pass. In addition, she’s not painted out as some bomb shell chic that every man must fall for—she is just the average female looking for someone to love. This is in contrast to the guys in this work, who are different degrees of handsome. It shows that an “average” woman can get the attention of “gorgeous” men. Also, none of these guys came across as vain or a-holes. This made all of them quite likeable to me, despite some of their poor actions.

Summary of Thoughts: Yes, it’s erotica but it’s more contemporary than anything. Love the real life situations, characters, twist at the end. Handy is a winner and is a great story for someone who loves something a tad bit different. It can picked up and read over and over again!

4.25 on the 5 Point Scale.

Disclaimer #1:
This book was given to me by the Author's Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Disclaimer #2:
(Not that I think there should really be one, as if you read the Blurb you'd know what the book is about.)
This book contains erotic scenes of same sex couples.

BUT, if the above does not bother you, than by all means, dig in. Trust me, you won't regret it.

The gist of this book is 3 short stories full of sexual and sensual goodness. Yes, sexual and sensual are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!
Here is the difference between "Delectable Things: Special Edition" and most other erotica reads available on the market today. THIS book actually has a story line! Yes, that's right--all three stories have plots that the reader can relate to.

For example:

In "Delectable Things" the story from which this book acquired it's namesake, is about a girl named Sabrina who is basically screwed by society and decides that she just wants out. Of course, her "good friend" (which is put into parentheses for a reason) kind of schmoozed her into leaving for personal gain, but that's besides the point.

The second story is mostly about Teresa, whose long time fiance decides that he wants to cheat on her. Worse, the chick with whom he cheated calls Teresa's house!
I mean, WHAAAAAT! Heck no!
So, ultimately Teresa leaves him and finds solace with her best friend Kesha.
Needless to say, there is a tempered chemistry between the two of them that doesn't surface until this very moment.

The third (and my personal favorite story) is about a woman by the name of Darbi, who is a lot like most women now a days--stuck in a dead end job, and single and looking, without much luck I might add.
I find Darbi to be so relateable and interesting. Probably because she reminds me so much of myself.
Well life's challenge ultimately lead Darbi to an unexpected climax. Literally.

Suffice it to say that I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys LGBT & Bi-Curious or Straight erotica, as it explores all of those avenues.

Definitely a 5 star read.

When it comes to Spicy Sweet Erotic Goodness "Delectable Things: Special Edition" is where it's at. There are so many great things going on in this book, that it's hard to sum it up. That will not stop me from trying, however.

The first great thing is that you are literally getting 3 stories for the price of one. They are:

* Delectable Things
* Simmer Sweet
* Handy

The main story, Delectable Things, is about a lady by the name of Sabrina who finds herself in a very hard predicament. Tired by everything, everyone, and the unfair situation she decides to flee and takes off time Miami. When she arrives at Miami she discovers that pleasure can come in the most unexpected places.

The next story, Simmer Sweet, is about two ladies by the names of Teresa and Kesha. Teresa finds out her fiance cheated on her, and that inadvertently lands her in the arms of Kesha, her life long friend. Things heat up quick and in a hurry.

The last story, Handy, is about a lady by the name of Darbi, her life and dating woes. She finds out that dating isn't all that easy. Yet, what a Handy delight waits for her at the end of a bumpy road.

What I love the most about this book is that while it is categorized as LGBT Erotica it's so much more than that. For example; Handy is in this collection, but it is actually Contemporary Erotica. It's a book with characters so real that one connects to them instantly. It has depth of plot and intriguing twists and turns. You'll satisfy your desire for drama, and comedy, and it'll be tightly intertwined into a well put together LGBT/Contemporary Erotic short story collection.

Kudos to Ms. Synful Desire and the amazing creative work.

If I could sum this book up in 3 words, they would be:

SO DARN DELICIOUS!

"Delectable Things: Special Edition" is one of those LGBT Erotica books that you can read over and over again. While there are some totally steamy sex scenes in this story, there is so much more than that. It's got substance, intrigue and lasciviousness, and even more than that, it's got characters that you'll love to hate and some that you'll hate to love.
One in particular that I loved to hate was Sabrina's boss. What an a-hole! Sabrina is the main character of Delectable Things, the primary story in this book.
One that I hated to love from that very story was Sabrina herself. She is such a lovable ditz that makes completely bad choices, but you can't help but connect with her.

There's an incredibly amount of goodness in this story, which is no reason why they gave it a "food like" theme.

Another thing that I thought was an interesting twist is that the very last story, "Handy", is not LGBT but Straight Contemporary Erotica. So, it's like this book has tasty erotic treats for everyone.

Truthfully, I'll be keeping a copy of this book on my eReader, because I'm certain that I'll be going back to it repeatedly.

Wow! I hardly know where to begin, so I will just dive in.

Cover: The idea for the design is quite fresh. At first, I couldn't understand the lettering but then once it started talking about the sign, then the neon made sense. I had to give a double take because at first glance, I thought it was a rocket instead of a jumbo jet (representing the flight to get away).

Characters: One of the things I found engaging about this work was the mixture of characters. There are characters that I really liked (Evianne and Vicki), some I outright disliked (Mr. Torrance and Veronica), and a few I was on the fence about. One of the "fencers" was the main character. In one instance, Sabrina acted inappropriately while in another instance, she didn't act quickly enough (with Rachel). The mix of emotions kept me reading.

There was not a dull moment in any of the chapters. Each one provided new information and a level of excitement. The major players in this novelette had a back story that was conveyed with a combination of dialogue and narrative. It can be a tedious balancing at but for a debut, this author did a wonderful job.

I was so invested in the back story and some of the conflicts that one would almost forget this is a work of sensual proportions. The author took great care with describing each ladies' features as well as their executions of erotic acts. It bordered on scientific yet I think the author's aim was for it to appeal to the novice erotica reader.

If there were any type of suggestions I have, it would be these:

1. The last chapter felt slightly rushed. I believe the author could have extended it just a little.
2. Vicki the owner was my favorite character yet she is the one I didn't get a good look into nor with Amber. Maybe they weren't that pivotal but it would have allotted a nice balance.

For conflict and story mixed with sensual heat, I do recommend Delectable Things.

lol...well she wasn't playing when she said adult. All that action wasn't anything to sneeze at but it was surprisingly tasteful. And had a plot.

One thing. Does she have a thing with lips? Because on Kona, Simmer Sweet, and now this one...there are lips on it.
