Alan Shivers is back with the conclusion to his second slasher trilogy, Killer Vocals 3. It's always tough to review the final entry into a series like this – if you haven't read books 1 & 2, any details about the story would no doubt spoil them for you; if you have read them, then chances are you'll already be invested and know you'll want to pick this up as soon as possible. I suppose what may help people the most is answering the question, now the trilogy is complete, would I recommend picking up the first book and diving in?

First, a bit of background for those unacquainted with the series. Killer Vocals follows two Greek sisters, Themis and Hara, as they enter a Europe-wide search to form a new pop group. As the competition heats up, it soon becomes clear that there's a killer in their midst. If you've read Shivers' Europa Hall trilogy, you'll be in familiar territory – the series is fast-paced, easy-reading camp fun in the vein of the late 90s slasher boom. Characters come from all over Europe, including countries you wouldn't often see represented – how many books have you read recently with someone from Bosnia, say? - and are positioned across all points of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. They're a quick read, interspersed with moments of occasionally really brutal kills.

As a conclusion to the series, and when thinking back on the trilogy as a whole, I have to say that I'm satisfied with it. With a conclusive ending I didn't see coming, characters that are easy to spend time with, and wince-inducing death scenes, there's not much more you could want from this book. My one complaint, and it's minor, is that I wish authors would include a short summary at the start. With two other books in the series, plus plenty of callbacks to The Namaste Slasher, I feel like I missed a few things that would have been easily remembered if I had read the books in quick succession.

If you're a fan of the classic teen slasher and are looking for a fun ride to go on that doesn't rely on the usual character and location clichés, I'd strongly recommend picking up The Namaste Slasher and then the Killer Vocals series. Where else are you going to get characters practising their Girls Aloud choreography, some in-depth Slavic mythology, and an ocean's worth of blood, all in the same story?

It’s giving finale!

‘Killer Vocals 3’ is the final book in the series that began with ‘The Namaste Slasher’ (2024). Themis is the sole survivor of her group of girls. Now she and other survivors are facing their final trials, and this time it’s deadlier than anything they could imagine. With literal gods watching them until the finale, Themis, Aagje, and Dimitar have to fight and unleash their special skills to make it to the end. But as they get closer to the finale, an even bigger twist emerges—one that no one saw coming.

One thing about Alan Shivers is that he is not afraid to take risks by making you fall in love with these characters and then killing them off. Not only does he kill them off, he does it in such a torturous and gruesome way—and I bet with a smile on his face as he does it. That bitch! (Joking…mostly.)

Throughout the book, I didn’t know what to expect or how to feel about many of the situations. Aagje, one of my favorite Alanverse characters, was back—but in a completely unexpected way—and she knew the truth about the competition. When that truth was finally revealed… I kept repeating “What?!” over and over.

The execution of this series was chef’s kiss. It’s a mix of The Hunger Games, mythology, and Friday the 13th, all wrapped into one off-the-chart book that will leave you guessing until the very end.

‘Killer Vocals 3’ felt like a more personal book for Shivers. It wasn’t as intense or gory as the previous books, but I truly enjoyed the experience of reading it.

Make sure to read Alan Shivers’ books. He truly is the king of slasher and chaos!

What a stunning conclusion to the Slasher series! Alan has once again delivered a gripping narrative that kept my anxiety at an all-time high. Each page was a whirlwind of emotions, as I found myself on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating what would unfold for the remaining artists, their devoted readers, and the ever-loyal guards who play a pivotal role in this installment.

Alan masterfully crafts a world that feels both vibrant and otherworldly. His descriptive writing engulfs you, providing a visceral experience that is hard to shake off. The setting serves as a perfect backdrop for the intense struggles and triumphs of the characters left in the competition. Each character's journey comes with its own set of challenges, akin to navigating a dog-eat-dog world, making the stakes feel incredibly high.

The battle of wills to become the best culminates in a satisfying and emotionally charged conclusion that respects the complexity of the characters and their relationships. Every challenge they face forces them to confront not only their outer struggles but also their inner demons, making for a compelling read that resonates deeply.

Killer Vocals 3 is a fitting and exhilarating finale that wraps up the series with style and depth. Alan has left no stone unturned, ensuring that fans of the series will walk away feeling both fulfilled and contemplative.

This was the epic finale we’ve all been building towards, and honestly? It did not come quietly.
This book ties together the Europea Halls trilogy, The Namaste Slasher, and the Killer Vocals trilogy into one blood-soaked ending, and it somehow manages to feel even bigger, darker, and more chaotic than everything that came before. We’re talking Slavic mythology, Germanic folklore, and even a little Greek chaos thrown in for good measure. It adds this eerie, almost ancient-feeling layer to the carnage that makes everything feel more intense… like something much bigger is at play.
And as always with this author -
you will get attached. You will pick your favourites. And then you will watch them get absolutely destroyed.
The kills? Brutal. Creative. Zero mercy. No one is safe, and the author clearly enjoys reminding us of that.
Also, can we just appreciate the LGBTQ+ rep being seamlessly woven in without it feeling forced? We love to see it, especially in a genre that doesn’t always get it right.
This was one of those finales that actually feels like a finale; everything collides, everything escalates, and it leaves a mark.
I’m genuinely excited (and slightly scared) to see what this author does next.

As the survivors enter the final arena of battle, this monstrously malevolent story reaches its glorious finale with the return of two much loved characters. Who survives?

Soaked in mythology, not only Slavic/Germanic but with Mount Olympus vibes as the gods watch the trials in silent judgement. The losers in each round are dispatched with gruesome glee and I guarantee you will not see what is coming at the end!

The Easter eggs linking back to not only the Namaste Slasher but to the Europea Halls trilogy are a pure delight and had me smiling in the midst of the destruction. Although this story takes inspiration from world mythology it also creates its own universe where things are not what they seem, where reality is malleable, manipulated and humans mere pawns in a cosmic game.

No one writes slashers like Alan, the kills are brutally juicy, the tension electric, the characters fully rounded and real, you really care who survives and there is real heartbreak when they don’t. I loved this trilogy and the whole seven book arc and I cannot wait to see what twisted horrors creep out of his head next!

Wow! This was an intense ending to everything that we have seen in the last 8 books! I wasn’t expecting that ending at all, and I really enjoyed this last little bit of the story. This was probably the least gory of all of the books, which was a nice surprise! It seemed to revolve more around relationships and especially family in this last little leg of the journey. I have to say, the (near) ending has a twist I didn’t really see coming, and I actually loved it. I feel like the series could still continue, but would probably go in a different direction. I can’t spoil the ending, I just feel like a certain someone needs an offshoot! Now that the entire series is complete, I highly recommend binging them all at once if you haven’t read any of them yet!

'Killer Vocals 3' by Alan Shivers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a climactic ending!!!
As the contestants are being whittled down in the most gruesome way, the remaining characters find themselves in a different realm. Alan describes the environment in so much detail that it gives the reader that sense of unease that not everything is as it seems. The picturesque Greek location is far from paradise!
As the story unfolds, the reader is given little easter eggs of what they can expect to happen delving into the heads of the characters, the readers' minds, and what they are hiding from their artists. This series has kept me hooked to the bitter end, and wow, what an ending!!
Can you guess what the winners prize is?
I didn't! Right up to the final note, I had no idea. If you love a good slasher story, incorporating x factor and Greek mythology, then grab this series. It is very well written by the king of slashers 👏 💯

I have been a fan of Alan Shivers since his heart pounding Europea Halls trilogy so when Namaste came out I had to give it a read. That story hooked me right from the start.
Now with the conclusion of Killer Vocals 3 I can’t wait to see what he unleashes next.
The Killer Vocals series has shown such a range that you can’t help but want to see what happens next. To be it’s like Xfactor meets survivor tossed into a Greek mythology. The way the author pulls off his kills is unique and continues to evolve as each story unfolds. Plus the description of the setting ads to the story. For fear of spoilers, I will say the ending was climactic and unexpected but it shows the range of talent this author has.
Alan Shivers has gave us another series that will pull at your heart strings while terrorizing your nightmares.

What a way to finish the series! Another sensational, heart-racing, fast-paced read from Alan Shivers.

The final book is not at all what I expected, with emotionally charged twists and turns from the beginning. While the horror remains, there are also unexpected elements of mythology, fantasy and sci-fi that help explain a lot of the goings on from the series, and ties the story up with no lingering questions.

As always, I loved Alan's writing style. The fast-paced narrative meant I flew through this book in on sitting, always wanting to know what happens next.

I would highly recommend this book and the entire series to those who want to get into the horror genre, and those who are already there.

I loved this conclusion to the Killer Vocals trilogy. It was different to what I expected and I found that refreshing. I loved the new characters and the return of a previous character from The Namaste Slasher. Along with a sneaky reference to the authors first trilogy.

In this book we follow the last three contestants and their readers in a to the death final. It is unknown what the prize of winning is until the end of the book. The character development of Themis throughout the books and how she showed her authentic character right to the end. One question I was left with about the ending is who truly won? I’m not going to give any spoilers, but I wonder how many readers will have a similar question.

I loved to continued incorporation of Croatian folk lore. Along with inclusivity and understanding of different family dynamics. Overall a different book to what I’d been expecting but a great way to round the trilogy off.

Thank you Alan for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.

Alan Shivers closes out the Killer Vocals trilogy with a conclusion that earns its ending.
The surviving competitors face their deadliest trials yet, with Slavic mythology woven in and a twist that might blindside you. Alan isn't afraid to kill off characters you love and the foreshadowing is clever enough to keep you guessing without feeling cheated.

Less gory than its predecessors but more emotionally satisfying, this is the kind of finale that respects both its characters and its readers. If you enjoy fast-paced, LGBTQ+-inclusive horror with a diverse European cast: start with The Namaste Slasher and continue with the Killer vocals trilogy. Don't stop until you've finished this one, thank me later.

This book drops on March 27th. Enjoy! 🖤

I went into Killer Vocals 3 knowing this would be the final chapter - and somehow, everything, all the intensity and heartbreaking slasher drama, had to come to a conclusion. It doesn’t disappoint at any point. The way it effortlessly binds together not only Killer Vocals 1 & 2, but The Nameste Slasher and The Europea Halls trilogy as well, truly cements its brilliance.
The focus on the mythology is epic, and the attention to the smallest details that make these books sing is simply flawless. I am completely enthralled by this series. I urge everyone to read it and experience the twists delivered with such flair - just as I did.
An unforgettable ending to an extraordinary series.

Killer Vocals 3 is a dark, gripping story that blends horror with a strange, dreamlike world. What really stands out are the characters—they feel real, emotional, and easy to connect with, even in the most intense moments. Their relationships, fears, and determination pull you deeper into the story. As secrets about the world and its gods unfold, the tension keeps building. It’s an immersive, character-driven read that keeps you hooked from start to finish, perfect for anyone who loves eerie, unpredictable stories with endings that leave you gutted and likely slack-jawed.

A stunning conclusion to a fantastic trilogy. Themis became one of my favourite book final girls and I was glad to see her continue to kick ass in these challenges.
Although I'm sad the story is over, I'm so grateful I got to spend time with these characters and experience the story of their sacrifices and survival.

What a great conclusion to this slasher series!

I don’t want to give too many details away, but it was a gripping, fast-paced, and enjoyable read! While it is a horror/slasher novel still at its core, there is some mythology and sci-fi/fantasy elements to it too.

I enjoyed the different POVs. And with it being right around 200 pages with short chapters, I flew through this one all within the same day.

It is the final book in a series that you do need to read in the correct order. Recommend checking the series out if you enjoy slasher novels/movies!

I think it was the perfect ending to this series.
The story had a great ending and it feels finished. (Even though I would love a spin off)
