Rate this book
Fa Yan is one of the representative philosophical works of Yang Xiong(53 B.C.-18 A.D.). The biography of Yang Xiong says "" Yang Xiong witnesses that the scholars are inconsistent with each other for their respective knowledge, defaming the sages, praising their own ideologies arrogantly, messing up the political society. The diverse ideologies though not very influential will ultimately break the moral norms and confuse the mass to make them have faith in what they hear not knowing it is actually wrong. From Tai Shi Gongs record on six kingdoms, Chu Han, to the end of Lin Zhi, the ideologies therein are different from that of the sage with distinctively different concepts from that of the Confucian classics. Therefore, once asked by others, Yang Xiong often answers imitating the classic paraphrases, subsequently, he compiles a book in 13 volumes imitating the Analects of Confucius, named Fa Yan.
