After starting this ARC, I chose to DNF. While not graphically described, the opening chapter includes references to sexual violence that falls outside of what I’m personally comfortable reading and reviewing.
Out of respect for both the book and my audience, I chose not to continue.
If you enjoy darker, grittier thrillers, this may still work for you.

The collection of friends and allies are there to help her end the devastation illegal arms sales created by when purchases by human monsters. excellent storyline, superb characters, Africa adventure, and justice delivered.
This is the third book in the River Swift series, though it was my first time reading it, and I had no trouble jumping straight in. It works really well as a standalone, but I do find myself wanting to go back and explore her earlier story now.
There’s plenty of action throughout this book, with a constant sense of danger running underneath it all. The author does a great job of painting a vivid, immersive landscape that River has to contend with, creating a really immersive reading experience.
I also enjoyed the found family element woven through the book. River herself is a complex FMC with a tough exterior, but you can feel the layers underneath, which makes her feel very real and believable.
Big thanks to @midascampaigns for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
What an awesome book!! This book was filled with lots of action and suspense. While this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone!! River Swift has always stood for the correct way. Whether it was in her own life or the lives of others, she stands for justice!! She found out early in life that justice is more important and satisfying than revenge!! So when River decides to seek justice only found in the wilds of Africa, she must go!! Her parents deserve as much!! This book has suspense, thrills, believable characters and wording so vivid that I envisioned what the terrains of Africa looked like!! A must read!!
When a lead about her parents’ death surfaces, River Swift returns to a country she swore she’d never go back to. And as always, Freddie P Peters has written another fantastic thriller.
This third book in the series is an absolute page-turner. You get so caught up in the story you just keep reading. It’s about family, teamwork, and having people around who would do anything to help.
Set in the heart of Africa, with the added danger of the wild, the world-building really makes it stand out. And River Swift? She’s a badass you want on your side, no question.
I’ve loved every book in this series and would highly recommend it — it’s an exhilarating ride from start to finish.
The third installment in the River Swift series and my favourite so far. It's another fast paced, non stop action, thriller and I really enjoyed it. This book follows River investigating the suspicious deaths of her parents and she is pulled into the dangerous world of corruption, arms dealing, uncovering many secrets in her search of the truth.
This book was a tad darker than the first two and revealed more about her history and the stakes and danger feel a lot higher. River remains a brilliant protagonist, smart, tough, resilient but flawed enough to feel believable and I was rooting for her all along.
River Swift is an ex combat medic. The unexplained death of her parents in Africa ramps up when she gets a new lead. She decides it’s time to call in favors and friends to help her figure out what really happened. A ruthless warlord on the African continent holds the key. With non stop action, awesome cast of characters and a storyline that will keep you glued to your seat, this is a must read !
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
River and her “A Team” fly to Africa to pursue the man she holds responsible for her parents’ deaths years ago. Non-stop action and intrigue with engaging characters along with wonderful descriptions of the African bush country. Hoping that River and Jason can finally have “the talk” while on their next adventure. I received an ARC from Book Sirens and the opinions expressed are my own.
Trip Wire. River continues her quest to bring down her nemesis. He won't come to her, so she intends to go after him. Building up her team she comes up with an audacious plan. A past paced all action thriller that grips you to the very end. A great read.
Daughter of two physicians who were murdered in Africa decides to bring justice - 5 stars
Complex story gets medic committed to bring her parents' killers to justice. River Swift forms a team to locate and deliver justice to the arms dealers who brutally murdered her parents who were working for Doctors without Borders.
Starting slowly to review the deaths of her parents fifteen years previously including extra judicial activities by both the FBI and CIA, the story builds excitement as a trip to Africa, not as a vacation but as a quest to investigate, verify, and avoid ancillary damage to people, animals and the environment. The beauty of nature and the wild extremes portrayed an intent to do the right thing on every level.
The characters on River Swift's side include military buddies, rangers, natives with a 10,000 year history of living with nature, and people who want to help. The most interesting character was Orson Wilson who, as a Jesuit priest, had conflicting goals which he put into alignment with his Christian beliefs. The arms dealers and exploiters of natural resources showed no concern for any thing beyond making themselves richer by supplying rouge armies with military grade weapons as well as minerals needed for high technology tools.
Life in the jungle is harsh. A trek starting out in off-road vehicles and slogging through the rutty and swampy fields is a part of the adventure that you will share as death is meted out with weapons and wild animals who are always looking for food or to defend their territory. (Hippos, lions. and hyenas fulfilled roles demonstrating nature doing what it has always done).
Man has brought technology (airplanes, autos, and cell phones) in an attempt to bring civilization to the wilderness. Technologies can make change for good as well as bad. This story brings out the impact of some of the latest technologies on while credibly noting the impact of mankind's greed and rapturous nature, especially on the less fortunate.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
In this story, River attempts to make the parties responsible for killing her parents face justice. She has identified the individuals and she and other friends make a trip to South Africa where the people are expected to be located. River along with Karen and Reggie are later joined by cousins of one of the people that she received information for. They are all aware that what they plan to do is dangerous and River gives them an opportunity to refuse. River is aware that someone is following her so she tries to convince that individual that she is alone. The group all meet up at Kruger National Park where they lay out the operation. They discovered that part of what their timing was to be was changed so they had to readjust. One additional person, Jason who was River's previous fiance joined them near the end.
Read along and follow River as her journey to completing her quest takes place. Discover the individuals that were involved in her parents' killing and what their operation comprised. Learn what the last piece of the action in South Africa was and how it was connected to River's parents.
