Kat Smith is a seventeen year old werewolf, a member of the cheerleading squad, and the apple of her father's eye. Her life is perfect, except for the small fact her mother left when she was 8 years old. Now she is mated to the Alpha Neal’s son James Neal. Things get complicated when they receive a threat from an enemy that everyone thought was dead.
I really wanted to love this book. This concept happens to be one of my favorite types of stories. I didn't dislike this story, it just wasn't what it needed to be. There were several reasons: The story was entirely too underdeveloped and could have used a lot more pages of plot. The author's writing style still needs some fine tuning. It was a great first attempt, but needed several more drafts. Every great writer, edits and edits until the book has reached its potential. This one was only part of the way there. The edits weren't complete, either. There were still a lot of mistakes. Again, it just needed more TLC. The author ended this book with the intention for more to come, but the final epilogue was not consistent with the rest of the story's pov's. The level of hatred that character displayed didn't feel that warranted based on the rest of the book. I felt there needed to at least been a little more explanation there. Overall, this author has a lot of potential and will only get better the more she writes. I hope she has a lot of success once she hones her talents. Don't stop, just keep working at it. I'm giving this book three glittery stars. Like I said, good idea, just less than stellar execution. (I love the cover by Regina Wamba by the way!)
