This book produced by the Fowler Museum of Cultural History combines research on Mayan dress and textiles for the period 1960-1980 in Guatemala. There are numerous photographs and location maps, organized by village. Items covered with photographs and descriptions include huipiles (blouses), tzutes (useful accessory cloths, such as carrying cloths), fajas (belts) and cortes (skirts). Men's clothing is also described, and there is a history of the development of indigenous costume (traje) over the centuries. There is also an extensive Bibliography for reference, and Appendices which define the terms used in English as well as native Mayan languages.
