Having spent a fair amount of time climbing in the Alaska Range, the energy, camp boredom, stress, joy, and everything in between was spot-on and palpable throughout. The pacing was great with enough character development to really make you feel for them all and I was on the edge of my seat, and even over it a few times once the action kicked off.
Overall this is an easy read and quite entertaining even if you've never been on an expedition before. If you have been out in these wilds, this one hits juuust right.
I hope we'll see more from this author in the future!

Harte Tower is a sharp, engaging climbing novel that moves fast without losing depth. It captures the tension, risk, and headspace of serious objectives in the mountains with convincing detail. It’s an enjoyable, well‑paced read for anyone interested in mountain adventure, climbing culture and outdoor objectives.

An extraordinary read. I rarely read fiction; normally I’m thumbing through guidebooks and dreaming/planning. On that note, check out Phil’s other book ;)
I knew I’d find it engaging given the subject matter, but I didn’t think I’d read it in a single marathon session! I literally could not put it down.

What an amazing read! I was so invested in all of the characters. I know nothing about climbing but Phil did a great job of writing to all audiences. This was a perfect read for anyone who loves the outdoors and a story of overcoming obstacles.

Felt like I was on the mountain
I am not a climber and probably will never be one, but this book made me feel like I was on the mountain. The description was wonderful as was the suspense.
