Hotel Bellwether #1

Max Golding wants two things: to capture a ghost on video, and for Sloane Vanzetti to have a little fun–preferably with him. Sure, his old high school friend is his biggest skeptic, but a little healthy debate never made anyone less horny. When the famously haunted and romantic Hotel Bellwether invites him to film there, he invites Sloane along. They’ll have a cozy, intimate weekend trip, and maybe they’ll find some ghosts along the way.

Sloane Vanzetti is plenty of fun, thanks. Would a non-fun person spend a weekend looking for ghosts with Max Golding? There’s no way they’ll find any, but Sloane will try anything once. If it involves sexy, flirty Max, she’s willing to try several times, in several positions. Her only requirement? That their quick fling stays just that–fun, casual, and over once they leave.
But once they’ve gone back to their respective lives, can they really leave each other behind–or will their affair at the Hotel Bellwether haunt them?

Room Serviced is book one in the Hotel Bellwether series, and features lots of flirting, tons of banter, a little Lord Byron slander, and a happily-ever-after ending.

"Room Serviced" by Roxie Noir is a novella full of delicious spice and hilarious banter and bickering! Max and Sloane were old high school chums. Sloane is going to guest star on Max's successful ghost-hunting YouTube channel despite being a massive skeptic. The old Hotel Bellwether invites Max to record some videos there, so he invites Sloane along for the ghostly ride. They agree to have a fling-a-ding weekend together while they debate apparitions, a fling that will end once the cameras shut off. I think Max and Sloane have perfect chemistry with one another. Their disagreements about spirits lead to some very funny exchanges, ones that made me laugh out loud. The Lord Byron slander!!!! This is all juxtaposed with a "spooky" but romantic weekend where they get to know each other better as adults as they hunt. There is even quite a bit of tension built up in such a short time period! This is a fast-paced, spicy story, so you'll finish it in no time and definitely want more!

Thank you to Roxie Noir for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

ARC Review

4⭐️

Upon loosing a bet, Sloane Vanzetti joins her long time friend ghost hunter Max Golding on a stay at a famously haunted and romantic hotel, Hotel Bellweather. Max hopes to capture proof of the supernatural, and finally win over skeptical Sloane, while Sloane is only interested in keeping things casual and fun.
Think “people we meet on vacation” meets ghost hunting.

With this being a novella, I honestly don’t have a huge amount to say about it other than it’s is a really fun, quick read full of flirty banter and some proper “laugh out loud” moments.
I really liked the ghost hunting aspect, it was at times ridiculous but made for a really fun story. I also really enjoyed the banter between Sloane and Max, although I felt like if the story had been longer, we could have had a bit more tension build up before they get together, and during the post-trip scenes (but that has to be expected it with a novella).

Thank you to the authors for the ARC - I’m excited to read the future books in this series!

This is a delightfully steamy, funny frenemies-to-lovers novella from the terrific Roxie Noir. At yet another wedding of their overlapping friend groups, city worker by day and cryptid “expert” online Max bets scientist and skeptic Sloane that depending upon which pair of their friends marries next, she’d have to accompany him on his next ghost hunting adventure. Their fact-finding mission turns physical as they spend a weekend exploring passageways and walled-off attics. While they’ve enjoyed each other’s company immensely, there’s about a ten-hour geographical distance between them, so it’s chalked up to a lost weekend. Max, however, awkwardly invites Sloane to stay with him in NorCal on the way to their respective Thanksgiving obligations. Can they work through the logistics for something more than semi-annual casual hookups?

I was fortunate to have been provided an advance reader copy from the author and Wicked Reads Services, and I’m pleased to share my honest review.

⭐️English review ⭐️

I read this book as an ARC.

Who would’ve thought that a haunted hotel would be the perfect place for a love story, but I feel that for Max’s (a ghost hunter) and Sloane’s (his friend and an sceptic) story was the perfect push for two nights where the tension that filled the place and came through the pages, was not a tension that could freez your blood, on the contrary, was a burning tension ❤️‍🔥.

I have to clarify that this is a ROMANTIC story, with some tiny bits of paranormal, because that’s something that was a surprise for me. I was expecting the book to be a little bit more heavy on the paranormal aspect, but I’m not complaining, I believe this kind of story makes Roxi Noir’s writing shine brightly. She have the ability to create the perfect dynamic duo, the ideal couple even though they are like water and oil.

I have to admit that at the beginning I was having trouble with Sloane, because I’m a person who REALLY believes in paranormal, and she, being an sceptic, was trying to find the logical explanation. On her character makes sense, it’s not easy to make an sceptic to believe, you would have to bring the ghost to them to make them believe. That’s something I admire on Roxie’s book. A character who clashes with your beliefs, it’s not a bad character. For me a good character it’s the one who makes you feel things and becomes alive beyond the pages.

Room Serviced is an entreating and really short story, that’s why I was able to finish it in 2 to 3 days, only because I was really enjoying it, that I wasn’t in a rush. I think that being that short makes it perfect for the weekend, you can even finish it in a day.

Lastly I just have to remind you that Room Serviced will be publish on June 5th.

I had so much fun reading this novella! I’ve been looking for a solid, open-door romcom with good banter and sexual tension, and Roxie Noir delivered with Room Serviced. The first chapter got me hooked—Sloane and Max may find each other annoying at times, but they secretly love the arguing and bickering over semantics and science and reality. I was so excited to get to read this one early (thank you to Roxie Noir for the ARC!).

Sloane and Max and their arguing as foreplay had me laughing and kicking my feet and enjoying myself. Their witty responses and silly puns are endearing and hilarious, and it’s clear they love their verbal sparring and find that they love each other’s company. They’ve been in that casual friend sort of acquaintance since high school, but after meeting again at a mutual friends’ wedding back in their hometown of Last Chance, they end up making a low stakes bet that Sloane (ever the skeptic when it comes to ghosts and the supernatural) will accompany Max on a ghost hunting trip for his side hustle as a YouTuber if she loses. Obviously, for this story to happen, she loses, and shenanigans ensue at the Hotel Bellwether.

I loved the little tidbits about the hotel’s history, from its eccentric and mysterious original owner, Belle, to the weird architecture and themed bars and restaurants, the poison garden, and the portraits that Max and Sloane play fuck marry kill with. It’s so charming and a little weird and fun, and it adds to the overall charm of the romcom itself. Max and Sloane are clearly attracted to each other from the get-go, and the ghost hunting trip makes for a unique setting for bonding and flirting.

Sloane’s awkwardness is so relatable, and Max freaking out over maybe liking his ghost hunting trip companion is adorable. The way they realize they actually have fun spending time with each other and like how the other person annoys them or makes them laugh made me smile so much. The sexual tension and buildup was well done, and I wanted to keep reading their banter and flirting even past the ending (sad that good things must come to an end). I think this was pretty well balanced in terms of flirting, getting to know each other, and physical intimacy, especially given the limited page count of a novella, and I’m intrigued enough to want to try at least some of the other novellas by other authors in this series.

I gotta bump up some other Roxie Noir books I’ve had on my TBR for a while after this one!

Wow, I loved every second of this. Zero/Low angst, haunting shenanigans, high heat 🔥 and funny as hell. 👏🏆

✦Series: Hotel Bellwether, 1
MF interconnected standalone. The Hotel Bellweather series collects five spicy novellas from different authors centered around a fictional hotel.

In Room Serviced, Max (H) wins a bet with Sloane (h) so she’ll join him on a ghost-hunting mission for his YouTube channel. She’s his biggest skeptic, but he loves it and wants to force her to have a little fun.

✦POV: Dual, third person
She’s awkward, yet confident. He’s a cocky wind-up artist. They’re both smart and sarcastic, and it makes for quick, funny banter. It’s charming and kept me locked in- I couldn’t stop smiling (or highlighting/ bookmarking). Champion MCs! 🏆

✦Spice: Open door, explicit
I love banter as foreplay and considering they want each other from the start, the flirting leads to more quickly because they only have the weekend. They have undeniable chemistry on and off screen, in and out of bed.

» It’s been a minute since reading a new Roxie and I always remember why I love her writing so much. It just feels so good and having heard her speak, I can hear her voice in the characters and their authenticity hits just right.
“So you do watch my videos.”

“Yes. Obviously,” she said. “I wanted to know what I was getting into. I wasn’t going to come on one of your wild goose chases unprepared.”

“You know, I’ve never actually chased a goose,” Max said thoughtfully. “There are some animal ghosts, but I don’t know about geese.”

“Probably because they’re all in hell,” Sloane said, straight-faced, and Max snorted.

✩ Their debates about science vs. Highly Questionable Logic had me cackling. 😂💀

♡ Loved it! Perfect for lovers of forced proximity, friends to lovers (also a bit of rivals to lovers), a bit of emotional hurt/ comfort, and opposites attract. HEA guaranteed💕

I really enjoyed this story! I’ve been reading Roxie Noir’s books for awhile now and I really love that her writing seamlessly weaves in core elements like enthusiastic consent, respect and witty banter between romantic partners. Despite being a novella, Room Serviced still gives us enough character development to really get invested in how exactly the result of their bet is going to play out. I was SO happily surprised to find that it doesn’t just end right after the initial hotel/mystery story arc finishes (which would have been totally understandable for a shorter novel like this). Instead, you get to watch these characters continue to navigate their relationship across multiple settings. I hate it when a book is getting close to the end and there doesn’t seem to be enough time left to tie up all the plot points. With Room Serviced, I knew the hotel stay was coming to an end and fully expected it to either fast track a wrap up or end at a stunted place. Realizing that there was still a good chunk of the book left felt like the literary equivalent of curling up in a cozy blanket with a chocolate bar.

The spicy scenes all felt natural within the storyline and I like that they included little pauses to deal with an occasional clothing malfunction or situational hiccup - it made them more realistic/believable without detracting from the heat of the moment (which is a very difficult balance to achieve). I also have to give Roxie Noir lots of credit for including a character who is bisexual. Representation matters and normalizing the fact that there are a variety of sexual preferences by naturally centralizing it without making it feel like it an add-on focal point is also a beautiful balance that I wish was present in more romance novels. I was given a free, early copy of this book to review and I’m delighted to say that I loved it! I’d happily read more about their ghost-hunting adventures because the dynamics between these two characters makes for such a great combination of lighthearted and intense moments.

I have come to an uncomfortable truth: whichever Roxie Noir book I read means that I am emotionally cheating on my life with that book. And Room Serviced is no different. I am obsessed with both Max and Sloane and I suddenly feel the need to go to California, hunt for cryptids, have tacos, get tipsy, and make out.

Max and Sloane are high school acquaintances who have become closer through years of mutual friend weddings in their 20s. After too many drinks at one such wedding, they make a bet that results in Sloane being Max’s assistant for his next cryptid hunting video on his YouTube channel. Spending the weekend in a supposed haunted house gets both their heart-rates up, but not because of any ghosts!

Oh my stars. Roxie’s got it all in this book: the banter, the chemistry, the sizzling spicy scenes, the character development, the setting of a gothic resort with literary undertones. I was all in from page one. Max might be the sexiest Roxie Noir guy yet, and Sloane is sizzling in every scene. I can’t decide if I want to be her or date her and that is the sweetest character conundrum to have! Roxie weaves this story so deftly that I was so completely in this world that I was confused when I finished; what do you mean I’m not in Last Chance talking about Mothman around a fire but am still in my house with this pile of unfolded laundry? I want all the places in this book to be real, and, much like cryptid hunting, prefer to imagine they might be real than face any sort of hard evidence to the contrary.

Roxie’s books make me laugh, swoon, sizzle, and tear up a little. Every. Dang. Time. Room Serviced is a fast and fabulous read that will send shivers up your spine. In the best possible way.

Thank you to the author for this book. All opinions are my own.

This was a very fun short book. This is the first time I have been an ARC reader, and that added to the fun for me. I read it quickly and then re-read it a leisurely pace. Superficial spoilers to follow.

I have previously read most of Roxie's work. This novella fits well with her oeuvre. It is stand-alone in her character universe--but feels a little like the west coast version of the Loveless brothers and the Wildwood Society. I was waiting for Javier to show up and say that he would make a sculpture of the Newt Gobbler.

I really loved the descriptions of the Bellwether Hotel. I would SO stay in a hotel with buildings and wings named for Austen romances. I appreciated the literary research about Lord Byron and the way it wove into setting up the story: Bears! A poison plant garden! Tossing coins into the koi pond! I chuckled and could picture it clearly. It was refreshing to read youngish adult characters who could speak credibly about a classic poet. I also loved the reference to "Ghost", even though Max wasn't aware of the movie. I thought that Max and Sloane were charming characters. They were intelligent, endearing, both sincere, and vulnerable. I liked that there was no 3rd act breakup. This story didn't need that.

I appreciate that this book is the first in a multi-author series all set in the same hotel. I am not familiar with the other authors participating, but I will probably read those too simply to see what they do with the classic references.

Max and Sloane are hunting ghosts or at least investigating the existence of ones at a famous haunted Hotel Bellwethera. Max has a YouTube channel and he's been invited to host these haunting's on his channel and he invites Sloane along with him, not only so she has some fun, but she is more of a debunker and prefers to see the reality in the world. He loves her take on ghosts and knows his channel will love it too. Sloane doesn't hold back and her feisty spirit is why Max is drawn to her too.

These two had chemistry, there is no doubt about it. I will admit, I didn't quite understand a lot of what they were doing at the hotel, or what their actual history was, like exactly why they were rivals, but this is a novella...so I let a lot of the background slide since there is only so much time and space to add information, if that makes sense. All in all, what was on the page, the actual ghost hunting where Max is trying to be a professional and Sloane would debunk everything was cute. It was definitely how they flirted with one another which amped up the chemistry between them. Did it make a lick of sense to me...not one bit, but I'm not into ghost hunting so it didn't matter to me and definitely wasn't why I picked up this book. If this is why you picked up this book, I have zero intel you tell you about it. I'm sorry.

As for the chemistry between Max and Sloane, it was through the roof and I was rooting for them no matter what. So there's that. I'm wishing them all the best and a happily ever after, especially if they both end up as ghosts.😏

Roxie went and did it again!!

This was a book that I was totally looking forward to reading, and now I'm super thankful for getting to read this preview copy. I've been a fan of Roxie for a couple of years now and I just love how her lead characters always have a playful, fun and sassy banter.

What I really liked was how quick and easy this was to read. It was just full of so much fun back and forth. Max and Sloane are a duo that I would love to read again. It's got your tropes that we all like betting, friends to lovers, close quarter situations, And it wouldn't be a Roxie read without great spicy scenes. Room Serviced did not disappoint In the spice column. I like the location of them trying to do some ghost busting in a fancy hotel. Which gave me vibes of somewhere between The Winchester Mystery House and the Hotel Coronado.

Another thing I really loved was the idea of Max and Sloane coming from a small town in northern California, I myself is a former small town northern California resident for many, many years. And now being a Southern California transplant for 20 years It made me giggle a bit and think about all of my hometown visits I used to make on the long trek of up and down on the I-5.

I really liked this story a lot and I hope other people really enjoy it as much as I do! I can't wait for more Of the Hotel Bellwether series. It's going to be a fun summer series.

I received an ARC from the author - Thanks, Roxie! That makes it sound like I know the author, but this is a standard ARC situation -- I asked for an ARC when she offered it to her newsletter subscribers, and happily I received same. I rarely request ARCs, and often turn them down when publishers reach out offering them, but I was excited to have a new book from a favorite author, so ask I did.

I liked the book, really, but not as much as most of Roxie's books. It is funny, there is only one other book I was not mad about (The One-Month Boyfriend) and my reasons for not loving that were pretty similar to the reasons this was enjoyable, but not classic Roxie Noir.

I love banter, and she is great at it, but this is 100% banter. There are no non-quippy conversations in the book. I was exhausted by the end of their ghost-hunting trip (that is, the majority of the novella). Sloane came off as defensive and brittle, and Leo encouraged it, but it also seemed to make him a little sad, and I wanted better for him. To feel like there is a connection between people, at some point, someone just has to say something that is not clever but is honest. It was still a fun read and good company on a solo Saturday night after my friend James stood me up because apparently he melts when it rains. (Grrr!)

ARC review

Title: Room Serviced
(book 1 of Hotel Bellwether series)

Author: Roxie Noir

Genre: romance/rom-com

Spice: 4/5

Pace: steady flow all the way through to the end.

Readability: easy and comedic. It’s lighthearted and adorable. Novella/quick read

Character development: The characters are likable and learn about themselves a little on their trip. Sloan is curious, yet practical, and loves a challenge. She also has a softer side that she camouflages with humor. Max is an adventurer. He’s open minded and enjoys connecting with the world around him. I really enjoyed them.

Mentions/tropes:
Friends to lovers
Forced proximity
Opposites attract
Ghost mystery
Youtube influencer

My thoughts: it begins lighthearted with two friends bantering about the validity of a ghost story. They have a curious chemistry brewing under the surface like an elephant in the room. They make a bet and wind up on an intimate weekend of ghost hunting YouTube edition! It’s flirty, fun, and had me snickering. The smut was gritty (Roxie style 😜).The writing was good and kept me engaged. It’s like peering into their inner thoughts while they fall for each other. It’s such a cute story!!

(I received an ARC for this book)

Trigger Warnings include:
claustrophobic situation, biphobia discussion

This book is a good time! Max and Sloane really made me giggle! Their sense of humor and sarcasm was right up my alley! I didn’t know banter about ghosts and other supernatural things could be so fun! Or hot!? I mean, they were going back and forth about newts, and it was absolutely flirting! Everything about Max annoyed Sloane. The ghosts, the sarcasm, the charm, his smile, his man bun, his dumb face. So when she loses a bet and has to be his assistant, she is tortured by being stuck with him in a hotel for a nice relaxing retreat. But then they go back to their separate lives, and the torture doesn’t stop. That man was always under her skin, there was nowhere to run.

My Favorite Quotes:
• “The f!cking mouth on you.”
• “I’m not sending you a video so you can get arrested for indecent exposure somewhere south of Stockton.”
• “Yes, I meant have sex with me and sleep in my bed, it wasn’t a riddle.”

ARC Review ⭐️4

Sloane is a skeptic of anything supernatural (especially ghosts) and Max is one of her old friends from high school who is a ghost-hunter/cryptic enthusiast. Sloane loses a bet to him at their friend’s wedding and ends up spending a couple days with him ghost-hunting at Hotel Bellwether. Things naturally progressed since they have such witty banter together and the friends quickly become lovers! There were some “laugh out loud” moments where they said things I wasn’t expecting so it kept the book lighthearted and feel good which I think most romance books should have. I loved that it was a novella because it didn’t feel like their story was getting dragged out for the sake of page count or just to prolong the storyline. It hit all the points that I feel need to happen in order for relationships to develop in books especially because they kept in contact after their “fling” and it eventually became more. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be keeping an eye out of the rest of the series!

BIG thank you to Roxie Noir for the ARC copy of this book!

Absolutely zero notes. This was phenomenal just like everything Roxie Noir writes 🔥

I was OBSESSED with this novella and wanted SO MUCH MORE MAX & SLOANE!!!!!!! How do you take 200 pages and make a deep emotional and physical connection?? This felt so real, so well paced, and so incredibly perfect start to finish I am so thankful for the chance to read this one early.

Sloane and Max had incredible banter, all of the flirty well timed tension. This book was everything and I cannot recommend it enough!!

That first scene between Max & Sloane had me needing a cold shower. Roxie is a queen and knows what the hell she’s doing. THANK YOU 👏 👏

If you’re looking for a quick standalone spicy novella - look no further. This is the one for you!!

All of the fun - including cryptid discussions and GHOST HUNTING!!! literally what could be better?? make it spicy??? SOLLDDDDDDDD. 🔥💰🔥

seriously SO worth the read !

Thank you Roxie Noir for a copy of this eARC !! I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Simply adorable. This novella is a dreamy blend of sweet, sarcastic and hot. You’re going to love Max, the ghost chaser, ghost hunter or as I like to call him, the totally hot guy who yeah, hunts for ghosts as a side gig and Sloane, the non believer love interest.

Max and Sloane hail from the same small town and at a wedding of mutual friends they reconnect. Sloane is skeptical of most things, but ghosts in general. Naturally, he gets her to go on a ghost hunt for a weekend away. Because whether you believe in the supernatural or not, if a hot guy asks you to go away for a weekend, you should go.

What happens at the inn doesn’t necessarily stay at the inn especially when you’re filming a documentary about potential spirits. Despite the uncommon ground, they find a very mutual attraction that is spicy and perfect for them.

I’m delighted to say that Roxie wrote another winner! No ghosts were harmed in the writing of this novella, but my heart skipped a few beats while reading.

This was just a meh read. While I loved the prologue, which is actually why I applied for this ARC in the first place, the rest turned into a painfully boring experience. It genuinely pushed me into multiple reading slumps, and I ended up bingeing manhwa in between just to avoid completely falling out of reading altogether. The only reason I didn’t DNF it was because it’s a novella.

And when I say boring, I mean those slow ghost-hunting shows on cable where people just wander around talking for hours waiting for something interesting to happen. There were endless small talks, the classic believer vs skeptic dynamic, and very little momentum. Instead of feeling like a paranormal romance, it read more like general fiction with sprinkles of romance scattered throughout. Even the spice felt underwhelming and forgettable.

Overall, this just wasn’t for me.

This is my voluntary review for the ARC I received.

Sloane and Max’s ghost-hunting adventures were so fun to read in Room Serviced! These two CLEARLY had some built up tension going into their adventure. I was laughing out loud watching them both try to pretend they weren’t attracted to each other.

There was so much to enjoy in this book that I’d be hard pressed to fit it all into a quick review. Sloane and Max have great banter and wonderful chemistry that translates well beyond their ghost hunts. It was so easy to root for them and to want to see a lasting romance come from this story!

Room Serviced was a quick and easy to read story! Roxie Noir delivered on the tension and the comedy in equal measures. Sloane and Max are such a great couple, and this novella was a blast to read.

What's a bit of ghost hunting between friends? This book is the start of a multi author series based around the Bellwether hotel. Sloane and Max have been know each other since high school but lost touch as they get older, now they keep meeting at friends weddings etc. Max is a part time ghost hunter he does for his socials and Sloane is the biggest skeptic out there. When Max invites Sloane to join him on one of his quests, the forced proximity turns friendship to more. The banter is delivered so on point for this, I'm excited for the series. Roxie has nailed this little novella, just as she does for all her other books, if you're new to Roxie's work - go read her! This is full of banter, innuendos and all the steam!

Thank you Roxie Noir for an opportunity to read and review an ARC of Room Serviced. This was high spice for a shorter story and I was here for it. Max and Sloane are hometown acquaintances that usually only see one another for large events like weddings of mutual friends. They reconnect at one and make a bet that results in Sloane playing assistant to Max in his next ghost hunting side gig. Sloane is a non-believer and the banter between the two is flirty and filled with sarcasm. Tension builds into something more and when they part after the weekend they’re leaving wanting more. It’s a quick read, fun dialogue and the right balance between a black cat FMC and a golden retriever MMC with capable hands and a head of great, tuggable hair.

4.75 stars. This novella is dual POV, well written, and a funny, steamy, contemporary romantic comedy between Sloane, the female pragmatist lead, and Max, the male ghost hunter lead. I chuckled at the banter and snark between this pair; I loved the way they poked fun at each other and actually found that arousing. I enjoyed Sloane’s willingness to push back at Max’s theories around “ghosts”. I enjoyed Max’s enjoyment of his side hustle and the fun he had exploring possibilities. I enjoyed the building relationship and the steamy intimate scenes that progressed faster than anything else. I enjoyed the ending.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

I generally like everything Roxie writes, and this novella was no exception. It’s funny, short and steamy. Don’t go in expecting either angst or a huge amount of emotional depth because that’s not what it’s here to deliver. If you want something fun and light, you’re in the right place! I read this in my backyard and laughed out loud often enough that I could hear pauses in my neighbours’ conversations over the fence. The hotel was a good setting for the tongue-in-cheek ghost hunting, but what I really I want to hear more about is Sloane and Max’s hometown of Last Chance and its cryptid population.

I received an advance copy of this book at no charge, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Perfection! A perfect mix of intriguing plot, relationship development, banter and feasible falling in love...all in under 200 pages.

Highschool acquaintances Sloane and Max bump into each other years after graduation at a friend's wedding, and Sparks instantly fly. Through their champagne fueled banter, they both are looking for an opportunity to spend more time together. Losing a bet, Sloane accompanies Max on ghost hunting at an old romance-themed hotel. Through their funny, scary and tender escapades, they fall quite hard for each other.

The reader is brought on their journey of falling in love, choosing each other despite distance, and bringing out the best in each other.

Many thanks to Roxie Noir for the ARC opportunity in exchange for an honest review.

So grateful to be a part of the ARC team for this review! What a thoroughly enjoyable novella, loved the world-building Roxie Noir did, not only surrounding the main couple, but also the Hotel itself. I look forward to reading more in this collection from other authors! As always, Noir’s writing does not miss for me - her ability to pull a reader in to the moment so quickly is a true talent. I absolutely loved all of the tiny details as we watched the two main characters grow closer, the characters were fleshed out and their connection was solid and instantaneous but never veered into insta-love. This was a great appetizer as we await more from Noir later this year and I’m so grateful to be a part of it!

This is a fun read! Thank you Roxie for the chance to receive this ARC. I'll preface with this, I love good banter!

Max and Sloane grew up in the same small town and keep meeting up at friends weddings. A bet turns into a weekend at a hotel, ghost hunting. He's a part time YouTuber who's known for hunting the strange and mysterious, and was invited to check out the (allegedly) haunted Bellwether Hotel. She went along as his sceptic.... did effect of losing the bet.

There are ups and downs and a bit of craziness of course, but along the way, the sparks are hard to deny. Their story is cozy and sweet, with loads of back and forth bickering banter, sarcasm and whit.

Thanks to Roxie Noir for the review copy and this is my honest review.

I should read more Roxie Noir because I've really adored the ones I've read, especially this one, they make me grin from ear to ear— so joyous, sweet, and hot.

This novella also had a bonus feeling of being scared since they're on a ghost hunting adventure in a haunted hotel. The heroine lost a bet to the hero so she, a skeptic, has to accompany him on a ghost searching adventure where they bantered, flirted and got down to business (both in the paranormal search business and of the consorting variety) It's so damn sweet, I wish it was longer, I could read a whole novel length of them going on adventures.

Sloane lost a bet with Max and old school friend and she goes away for a few days to an old Hotel ghost hunting with him.
Sloane is sceptical to say the least while Max is full of enthusiasm,
they argue about everything, she’s sure they won’t find any ghosts and he’s filming just to try and prove her wrong,
there is plenty of sexual chemistry between the two of them and being at a romantic inn they hook up and once the few days are over they are quite willing to say goodbye but it’s not as easy as a few days and done.
I found this book to be a bit slow at first, but as it got started it began to improve to the way I know and love Roxie’s books

Room Serviced is the first book in the Hotel Bellwether series and it was such a fun novella!

It tells the story of Sloane and Max, whose witty banter and sarcastic friendship make every scene a delight. The chemistry between them felt so real! From haunted air conditioning to a mysterious pentagram in the attic used to summon demons, the story balances spooky and hilarious moments perfectly.

It's a quick, funny, and entertaining read.

"And then they were just standing there, looking at each other, like Sloane had forgotten how to open car doors and Max had forgotten how to walk away."

Thank you to Roxie Noir for the ARC opportunity!

This was such a fun and easy read. The haunted hotel and ghost hunting aspect gave the story a unique twist, but the real highlight was Max and Sloane. Their banter was effortless, their chemistry was undeniable, and I loved watching their friendship slowly turn into something more.

I do wish the story had been a little longer because I would’ve happily spent more time with these characters, but for a novella it delivered exactly what I wanted. Sweet, flirty, funny, and easy to binge. If you love friends-to-lovers romance with playful chemistry and a fun paranormal backdrop, definitely add this one to your TBR!
