Not the best X-Men storyline out there. Spoilers ahead.
The plot was convoluted, and you never really understand why the Acolytes would form under Magneto, then follow Fabian Cortez, and then follow Exodus. On top of that, they had Illyana suffering from the Legacy Virus, which Moira McTaggart was trying to cure. Colossus having a change of heart, and joining the Acolytes. The story was just going in all directions without any focus. Professor X finally decides to put a stop to Magneto, after what he did to Wolverine.
Recommended only for X-men fans and for a read-through, otherwise, the re-read value is almost zero.

This is, for me, the quintessential X-Men storyline of the 90's.

This first part, is just a lot of setup for what will come in vol2. Apparently reports of Magneto's recent death have been greatly exaggerated, as there are whispers and clues to his return all throughout the X-Men's adventures. In the meantime, his old team, the Acolytes, have a new leader, who is hiding a secret that will make him lose power if it gets out... and it seems to definitely be getting out. On top of this, we have Ilyana sick with the Legacy virus, Colossus' dismay at the way she is being cared for, X-Factor team dynamics, and a disgruntled Professor X realizing something is coming.

I think nostalgia definitely softened my review for this, as I did find myself having to "get through" a lot of it. That 90's over exposition and silly antics for action's sake is definitely present. But even though its pretty cheese, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the second part, which has the main battles.

If you're an X-Men fan, this is a must read in my opinion.
