Tracy is the award-winning author of Escape, a fast-paced post-apocalyptic romantic thriller that hit #1 Top New Release within hours of launching. She's spent most of her life writing and most of her childhood buried in books at the local library—basically, she's been preparing for this gig forever.

The first book in her Haven series features a massive cast of complex, relatable characters, high-stakes survival, and just enough romance to make you blush. Expect found family, sassy/timid heroines, heroic heartthrobs, and spice levels that vary depending on who’s telling the story. (Some characters are more into slow burns. Others? Not so much.)

Before diving into full-time author life, Tracy worked in the tourism industry. Now she writes in yoga pants, cruises when she can, and spends far too much time researching her twisty family history. She shares her life with her husband and two sons.

Her future writing plans include tackling romance, space opera, romantasy, and westerns—assuming she doesn't run out of time before she runs out of ideas (or lives… she’s pretty sure she’s part cat). Tracy’s TBR pile is dangerously high. Yes, she’s a cat and dog person. Please don’t make her choose.

Flee is book two in Myhre’s Haven Series. I read and loved book one and eagerly anticipated Book 2’s release. It didn’t disappoint!
Flee is centered around Sadie, a young woman raised in a military family and training to become a librarian. She’s struggled since her mother’s death to find her place in her strongly masculine, military family, and as a result enlists in the Marine reserves. Just before the apocalyptic event, Sadie has finished Boot Camp and is heading toward a family reunion at their remote farm / bunker location when all vehicles and electronics stop working. She must make her way, alone and without access to her family’s bug-out bag and cache resources through wilderness.
Sadie doesn’t know it, but she’s about to encounter both dangers and opportunities she never imagined, and which, if she allows them to, can free her from the wounds of her past. She’s been in love secretly for years with Liam, a family friend who is a few years older and is in the Navy, yet she’s also drawn to a dark stranger she encounters while traveling to Haven and after experiencing unspeakable trauma at the hands of an enemy.
I found the story gripping and kept turning the pages well after my bedtime. In the early portions of the book I was confused how Sadie could recover from such horrendous assault, but as I read, I saw the care and skill of her Good Samaritan, Carl, and was pleased to see he’d joined Haven later. I enjoyed the tension between Sadie and Hunter and Liam. It was good to also return to other beloved characters from book 1 and see their lives now.
I received the advance ebook copy free from the publisher and posting my honest review of my own volition. But I’ve also pre-ordered the ebook copy, I enjoyed the story that much.
For those readers who prefer closed door romance like I do, one chapter contains a fairly explicit romantic intimate scene. The cues that this content is coming are obvious. I was able to skip this chapter without that impacting my enjoyment of the book. Flee also contains graphic depictions of violence, allusions / mentions of sexual assault (off page), death of character parents (by cancer and by violence), abuse by parents and grandparents of minor children (off page), death on page, gun violence, and criminal activity, all in line with post-apocalyptic thriller expectations. If any of those would impact negatively on your mental health, please take care of yourself.
In summary, I found Flee to be an excellent addition to the burgeoning Post-Apocalyptic genre in the both the thriller and romance sub-categories and will be continuing the series.

“It is better to have the courage to fight and lose than to give up without even trying.”

After devouring the first installment of the Haven series, Escape, I was dying to start Flee.

In all honesty, after following the path of Beth and Ryker, I expected to see more of them within the first couple of chapters, or I guess, I hoped I would. After the first quarter, though the slow build, I quickly got passed this, as Sadie is an incredible and strong FMC. Also really grew to like Hunter and I appreciated how the romance, their decisions and some elements wasn't over the top. The development of the brothers and introduction to Carl was also perfect and shaped up a real compelling apocalyptic read!

I really respect Myhre's approach to an action packed romance, with intertwined complex characters. Flee felt more relaxed in delivery, which rightfully so as book one is a definite world builder. The world Myhre has built is curated with a lot of thought and each ending reels you in for the next one (I am SO ready!!).

My small niggles, is some chosen words used in the spicy scene and the cliche "I'm not like most women" line being used. Immediate ick for both. Sorry!
While I also appreciate the reasons for a lot of scenes being off page, and I enjoy the fast pace, it can take a while to keep up and fully immerse yourself in parts.

Echoing my thoughts on Escape, this is a perfect series for those who like to take tabs/notes!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Thank you so much for the ARC in exchange for honest review

Flee: A Post-Apocalyptic Romantic Thriller is the second installment in the Haven Series following Escape. It begins with the saga of a young librarian named Sadie as she makes her way towards her family’s secret compound, called Haven, which is hidden in the rugged Pacific Northwest. She is coming home from having secretly graduated from Marine boot camp. On her bus ride home, she witnesses a missile attack. All communications go down, and her bus crashes. She must make the rest of the way home on foot. Shortly after starting her trek, she is attacked by a stalker who had been harassing her at boot camp. Sustaining some serious injuries, she receives some unexpected help and slowly continues her journey.

Along the way, her injuries worsen, and she becomes ill. Help comes from another surprising source. While she had her heart set on returning to see a special man, this newcomer provides a big distraction. Once she reaches the compound, she discovers that it is under attack from nearby neighbors who escaped from the prison and are looking to cause problems, including kidnapping people for slave labor. The attackers have no clue about the size of the compound because much of it is hidden underground. While trying to fend off the attackers, Sadie must also figure out exactly what her heart wants.

Flee is a fast-paced story that incorporates interesting, well-developed characters into a survivalist story. Time-wise, since this protagonist is coming in from somewhere else, the initial time frame overlaps Escape. Having read Escape, I enjoyed being able to visit the original characters. Flee does stand alone well, but having enjoyed both novels, I would recommend that readers begin with book one. Myhre also includes reference materials that have maps of the surrounding area and family trees that will help characters stay on track with who the people are and the geographical settings.

The settings are vividly described in fantastic detail. I loved the survivalist elements that are incorporated into the story. The compound is huge and self-sustaining. There is also an entry place called Reed where people initially come in. The core group of people has a military background and trained the younger generation, like Sadie, with survival skills. They have also shown them the way to get to the compound. Romantic elements add to the tension, especially because the protagonist is torn between two men.

Readers who enjoy post-apocalyptic survival style books with strong romantic elements will absolutely love Flee. Tracy Myhre has become a new favorite author of mine. I look forward to the next installment in this amazing series.

Tracy Myhre’s Flee picks up where the first book of the Haven series left off, and it doesn’t waste a single beat. The story follows Sadie Masters, a young Marine Reserve and librarian-in-training, as her bus journey to a family reunion turns into a desperate fight for survival after a nuclear catastrophe devastates Washington State. Interwoven with her storyline are the perspectives of others, family, friends, and strangers, all caught in the chaos that follows society’s collapse. Myhre builds a world where every decision feels like it could be someone’s last, and every relationship is tested by fear, loyalty, and grief. It’s a book about what we hold onto when everything else falls apart.

I found Myhre’s writing raw and alive. She doesn’t dress things up or linger on flowery descriptions. Instead, she cuts straight to the emotion of the moment. The dialogue feels natural, sometimes painfully so, like listening in on real conversations you wish you hadn’t overheard. Sadie’s voice especially stands out. It's strong yet vulnerable, brave yet messy in all the right ways. The pacing is quick. Chapters snap forward like jolts, each one dragging you into another cliffhanger or gut punch. Some scenes, especially the violent or intimate ones, feel real. They left me breathless and a bit shaken. That’s not a complaint, though, it’s proof that Myhre knows exactly how to get under a reader’s skin.

What impressed me most was how the book handles survival and morality without getting preachy. It’s not about heroes or villains, it’s about people just trying to live through impossible choices. I loved the smaller human moments, like Sadie’s flashbacks to her mother, or the quiet fear in characters who’ve already lost too much. At times, I did wish the story would slow down and let those moments breathe a little longer, but maybe that tension is the point. In Myhre’s world, there’s no time to rest.

I’d recommend Flee to anyone who loves survival stories that make your heart race and your mind spin. It’s perfect for readers who enjoyed The Road or Station Eleven, but want something a bit more grounded in family and personal history. It’s emotional, dark, and real. I finished it feeling wrung out and strangely hopeful, the kind of book that doesn’t just tell a story, it makes you feel like you’ve lived through it too.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to receive and read an advance copy of Tracy Myhre’s novel, Flee: A Post-Apocalyptic Romantic Thriller.

This is the second book in the Haven series and focuses on Sadie, a woman introduced in the first book of the series, Escape. Like its predecessor, Flee begins with the typical everyday atmosphere. The reader learns about Sadie’s love for a man (Liam) she’s known her entire life, but who she has been rejected by. Then it fast-forwards to the present as Sadie travels home on a bus after secretly finishing boot camp. She’s looking forward to seeing her sister and brother-in-law and reuniting with them on their drive to the family farm in Idaho. But before she makes it, an explosion turns everything upside down, and she must fend for herself on foot to make it to the family’s safe haven.

Like the first novel, Sadie faces many hardships on her quest to get to the farm, and she meets some people along the way who help her achieve her goal. One of which is the bad boy MMC, Hunter, who has demons of his own. As you may have guessed, there is a love triangle here with Liam and Hunter, which adds to the tension throughout the story.

I enjoyed seeing more of the aftermath of the missile attack and getting a better feel of life inside the compound at the farm in Idaho, including learning more about other characters. This has a large cast of characters, and at times it gets a bit confusing as to who is who. However, Tracy thoughtfully included family trees at the beginning of the novel to assist with this, and by the half-way point, the story does home in on the key players. I enjoyed learning about each of their lives and seeing others, besides the main characters, finding happiness in a grim new world. I look forward to the next book, where it looks like we will be taken across the pond to get a better sense of the missile attack across the globe.

If you enjoy fast-paced post-apocalyptic / survival stories with romance (especially the love triangle trope), this is the book for you.

I was so excited to see this new release coming, after reading and enjoying the first book in this Haven series, Escape.

I actually read book 1 over a year ago now and so it took me a little minute to reacquaint myself with the world and to settle back into this storyline.

At first, we spend time with Sadie on a journey back to the compound and so I think that the timeline actually overlaps that of the first book - this means that initially, this looks like I would read well as a standalone.

But, as the story continues and we spend time back at the compound, we do revisit some of the original characters too and I think it's therefore important to read these books in order.

It was great to see Sadie's story. She was a fascinating character and showed her strength through not only the journey home - but also the boot camp and all the events running up to that point.

On that note, this does deal with some tough topics and although these are written well and approached sensitively, it's well worth checking out the content warnings before reading.

This was another fast paced read that had me racing through the pages.

I loved the development of the romance within this storyline and was rooting for everything to turn out well for everyone involved.

A great addition to the series and I can't wait to see how things proceed in book 3.

Flee is the kind of sequel that makes you remember why you started the series in the first place… and then somehow raises the stakes even higher. I loved Escape, but this one was even better. The pacing is tight, the plot flows smoothly, and the tension never lets up.

What I enjoyed most was how invested I felt in this group of characters. The storylines weave together in a way that kept me turning pages, “just one more chapter,” and I loved seeing how different people handle the same collapsing world in their own ways. The relationships, shifting trust, and constant survival pressure make the emotional moments hit just as hard as the action.

If you like dystopian/post-apocalyptic reads with high stakes, strong character growth, and a story that keeps escalating without feeling repetitive, this is absolutely worth picking up—especially if you already read book one. I’m genuinely excited to see where the series goes next.

This book was less disturbing than the first. It also felt slightly less organized.

I enjoyed the story of Sadie + Hunter, plus everyone sh pulled into her orbit. I also like continuing to watch Mal & Gina’s developing friendship.

However, there were so many overlapping stories here that this felt more like an action movie than a novel.

I am quite intrigued by Carl and would love to know hear more from his faux-omniscient POV.

Thank you Book Sirens for the free ARC.

I will probably read the next book because I feel hooked on this family and their collective stories.

As with Escape, the first in this series, it starts with a relatively normal person interacting with other normal people until the missile hits. Then everything starts to move quickly. There are no dull moments in the rest of the book! I could hardly put it down and looked forward to the time I could pick it up again. The intimate romance scene was a bit much for me, but it has a critical role in the storyline. The tension is realistic as everyone tries to survive in his or her own way. I hope to learn more about Carl in the coming books. I highly recommend this book!

If you enjoy post- apocolyptic military action adventure stories, this book is for you. Follow Sadie, a newly minted Marine, as missiles strike. Just don't begin reading at night, for you won't want to put it down. A great series to recommend for your local library.

I did enjoy the second part to this series. A similar storyline with romantic overtones but different problems confronting them. It is well written & kept my attention right until the end. A good fun read!
