A stranger comes to a depressed English mining town, bringing changes that first delight but then threaten teenaged Jules and the other town inhabitants.
Westwood, the son of a coal miner and a school teacher, decided on his writing career at age 11. Despite being Yorkshire born & bred, Westwood does live part of the time in East London. His first published writing was for the London music paper Record Mirror, where he worked as a staff reporter for three years. His career mixes journalism and fiction.
Eastfield was a town in decline until Mr. Stands arrived. Jules first noticed something strange when his sister's wish for a dog came true. Then, some household items his parents wanted showed up. But when Mr. Stands, the wish granter, began twisting the townspeoples' wishes around, causing injury and destruction, Jules and his friends began to wonder just where he got his incredible power. When they find out, its almost to late to save the town.
